Dang good video man. A repeater that’s mobile and can be strategically placed whenever and wherever you need would be a huge advantage in a lot of situations!
Just commented on another post about this topic, for the next podcast y’all are doing. I did the same thing, with a TYT UV8000 ht several years ago. Then took it to a whole other level, using a QYT-cb58, a surecom sr-628, and 8 watt ht on MURS. Plus solar panel, battery, weather proof case, etc. Works awesome. Then a second one, about 20 miles away. MURS HT to 2m/11m repeater, to 11m/2m repeater, to MURS ht. Legit long distance comms.
In theory, you could link numerous radios together over a vast distance this way. Not legal but it can be done. Would be a cool FTX if you had enough equipment and people to make it happen.
You got the power outputs backwards. Generally VHF will put out the advertised rate and UHF will do about 80% of that. I own the same radios. There are two plus versions. 10w no gps and 5 w gps.
@goombakiwi I wondered if I said that backwards. Thank you. I'll try to do an edit of some kind to correct that. One of those things you say backwards while trying to record video.
Awesome video brother, thanks for posting man
The secret service has excellent comms; when they want them to work.
Exactly

Great video mate. The more I listen the more I grasp the terminology and the simpler it gets
