    VLT = Visible Light Transmittance.
    It's very hard to find the truth online if you want to stay the right side of the law. Nearly every video I watch fails to tell you that the windows are already at their limit or close to it within a few % VLT. Most Window tinting companies never actually tell you that your windows are already at their limit. If you then add a even a few % shade to the front screen or front doors you run the risk of being over the limit.
    We have tested many windows over the years and it seems only some older cars with thinner clear glass will be a few % under the legal limit.
    Here we try and explain the window tinting law.
    It is so easy to get wrong and mislead customers. Even for us it gets confusing.
    - You can tint the rear windows as dark as you like.
    - Your front door windows are already shading 30% or close to it.
    - Your front screen is shading 25% or close to it.
    - Any shade you add will make it technically over the limit.
    - Unless your Chameleon tints are shading less than a few % then they will be shading over the limit once added to your factory clear or slightly tinted glass. Most seem to be Chameleon tints seem to be around 20% VLT. Many companies never tell you this important technical detail.
    - If the VLT of your chameleon tints says 81% VLT then its shading 19% on top of the front screen that is already shading 25%.
    - You may never get stopped by the Police.
    - You may never have to make an insurance claim.
    - You run the risk of getting 3 points per window.
    - You run the risk of getting done in court for dangerous driving if the windows are too dark.
    - You run the risk of having no insurance.
    - You run the risk of putting other road users in danger because you can't see them.
    - You run the risk of hitting someone and having no insurance for the other driver to claim from your insurance, because you have no insurance.
    - If you are a window tinting company you could be liable in the event of a bad accident.
    - Any modification to your car has to added to your insurance policy.
    We hate the law and think it is outdated.
    The Police hate Chameleon Tints as they can't see who is driving.
    We lose many customers by staying professionals.
    We try to help every customer who calls or emails to understand the law.
    Many parts of the world accept a light tint to the front two doors.
    We love the look of a nice light tint to the front two doors, but understand it's illegal here in the UK.
    Any comments welcome.

    People confuse the percentages. The stupid think they can tint up to 70 per cent. Your video is super clear 👍

      Thanks.. Yeah exactly.. Most new cars are already back on the limit of what VLT is allowed.

      @@sctints7621 the UK Police rule of thumb is that ANY tint added will push you over the legal limit. The dodgy installers fitting these should be prosecuted

      @@captainking4426 You mean add them to the over 160,000 back log of court cases right now!!! It's really not a priority for the Police or courts they have other priorities. I just feel sorry for the ones who think they are legal as being told so, only to find out otherwise when in trouble.

    What about mirror tint. Regards normal tints, isit true that the police just want to see who is driving?

    • @sctints7621
      @sctints7621  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sure, don't we all need to see who's driving? Checking to see if a driver has seen you make eye contact give the nod at junctions..

    So 50% on the front side windows are fine?

    • @sctints7621
      @sctints7621  9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      A 50% films shades 50% so adding 50% films to a 30% shaded front door window would also make it over the limit. You may never get stopped by the Police as its very light. But still run the risk of no insurance depending on what company you are with or what company the person who may have hit your car is with.

      Back 3 can be tinted as dark as you like but nothing can be added to the front screen or 2 front doors.
