i'm pretty sure Max just made up half of those things, because i've never heard the phrase "busting fresh, out of sight" or "chill hard" or "bump the bump" or "groove your moves" ever... then again, i was born in 2003, so i wasn't even alive to witness the 90s, so maybe people did use those phrases in the 90s. either way, it made me cringe a little bit.
@BK Beatty lol, that's crazy. although 2003 doesn't seem too long ago, even though i'm an adult (by law anyway, i don't feel like an adult...). and honestly, being old enough to be my mom isn't really that old, considering teenagers get pregnant a lot. my mom graduated high school when she was pregnant with me, so i dunno. but yeah, i feel you.
I was at Walt Disney World twice when this parade was running and I distinctly remember them playing the music so loud that you could hear it from across the park. The theme song has been in my head for decades.
Mickey Mania was the parade during my first visit to WDW! I remembered loving it as a kid…I was also 9. Watching it as an adult is a bit unsettling 🤣! I, however, ALWAYS support the inclusion of Max in any and all parades! #moremax
Remember this parade well from my first couple of times though I was 7/8 at the time. I have the soundtrack on a custom CD you could make in the parks sometime in the 90s called ‘Walt Disney World Forever’. Goofy says on the soundtrack ‘A party? Maybe I should bake a cake!’ Never knew what Roger Rabbit was saying until now. Max says “Mickey wants you all to ‘chill hard’ and ‘bump the bump’ …” emphasising these phrases like he has no idea what they mean… which probably he didn’t. Also the characters on tricycles had a few of their own tricks like doing wheelies and riding on two wheels I remember. Anyway a hilarious parade, typical of the spirit of the time and with a sense of humour which is sadly lacking today.
The pop culture that we are almost forced to consume is always personally nostalgic, because it's our memories, but it's also collectively unpalatable looking back if we look back with an honest eye. So why does everyone seem to consume it? Well, it becomes the only stuff easily available to us and it makes us more relevant to at least understand it, like it or not. I used to wonder why old people didn't seem to understand, learn, or care to understand the slang of the day or how to dress. Now I get it. Most of what is pushed as trendy for a time is garbage and honestly we know that even in the middle of it but lie to ourselves. I look at what's trendy now and laugh. No girl really thinks mom jeans make her look better in any way other than being on trend. I see what's trendy and older me thinks that's not coming into my house, onto my body, or out of my mouth. Even the past pop culture we lift up should not necessarily be the parts that we lift up. There are amazing sub cultures through out history with true core values and style that should be lifted up. Pop culture is not typically the best of the time, or even the most consumed of the time, but the most pushed and produced of the time even if it's laughable and short lived as trendy, edgy, cool, the cat's meow, or on fleek. Does it really look and sound "good?"
In 1996 Feb. I took my kids to Disneyland and Toy Story had a wonderful area where the 'soldiers' had plastic feet that were stuck together like the real toy ones & they had to sort of shuffle to get anywhere. No one knew yet that if you called out "Andy's coming!" they'd all have to fall down. So no one said it when we was there. The parade was amazing that day too! My daughter caught a beachball from Ariel & she was a very happy kid that day.
Omg me too, and I was only 2 during the actual trip. This video is giving me weird flashbacks of home videos of a trip I was too young to actually remember. (But yeah I definitely got one of those Mickey plushes whoops lol)
This was my first ever Disney parade from my first visit to WDW at age 7 and I never forgot it. The weirdness and music live forever in my millennial brain. Thanks for the video!
This parade was awesome!!! I was in it for a year and a half! It kicked our butts doing this in the Florida heat. I wish I had my Finale Dancer costume. Fun to wear. Thanks for this video so I can see all my awesome friends in our glory!! Mickey here, Mickey There, Everywhere!!
I had an old "Cool" Mickey and Minnie poster from the 90s. This parade looks like that Mickey jumped off of the page and started dancing. I am here for this mania.
Donald Ducks 50th Birthday from the 80's is my favorite! Over 30 years later and the chorus of that song still haunts my dreams. The accompanying special hosted by Dick Van Dyke is a gem as well!
This looks like a parade that be more believable for April Fool’s XD As much as I love Disney, but ugh they do have their fair share of cringe moments XD
I mean, we got Mickey Mouse Russian Dolls, Mickey Mouse as the Incredible Hulk, The handstand Mickey Nightmare Fuel, Minnie with the Toast Band, Chip and Dale operating their own impressive mickey clock while others walk around, Pooh moving a spinning thing, Dissected Mickey feet and Gloves walking around along with a living hat, and Balloon Firefighters Max and Goofy! This parade is Straight-up Chaos!
I remember watching some parts of this parade way back when our cable system had Univisión and they tended to make some specials related to holidays like Easter and Christmas on Walt Disney World. I never thought it was all around weird. Going from this to Remember the Magic on October of 1996 is a mood whiplash.
Can I just say, I love your channel, I love seeing the history of everything, and I just love the energy you express in every video. I'm always excited when ever a new video comes up in my notifications. :D
Dan, your screaming is scaring my dog and I’m wearing headphones for goodness sake. Great video! I would also like to note that directly after the Minnie segment, I got a Mini-Wheats ad. PS. Still campaigning for a Barney the Dinosaur Evolution video! 💜💜💜
Okey...I remember watching Mickey Mania in Tokyo Disneyland with my family when I was in 2nd grade. It was my 1st visit to a Disney park. We loved it and my mom even bought me the CD and the T-shirt for me. I'm now 32 and still love to dance to the music.😂
0:28 hey that's me :D i've been waiting for this video, i feel like this is definitely disney's weirdest parade... goofball is nothing compared to the horror that is upside down inflatable mickey
The Disney marketing team was like “ALRIGHT THE STOCKS DOWN BY 5, what do we do” And some guy at the end of the tables like “let’s make an entire parade to devoted to merchandise.”
OMG! I have an old video of this parade from early 1995 when I was 2 (and was sadly my only Disney World trip.) This is one of two parades I have recorded along with Aladdin's Royal Caravan. The videos also include Mickey's House (which is sadly no longer around since Pete demolished it in favor for his silly sideshow back in 2011), and It's a Small World.
My family took a trip to Disney in the summer of '94, I was 8. I 100% have no recollection of this parade. Either we didn't see it, or I have blocked it from my memory. Lol..
This was actually the very first Disney World parade I ever saw on our first visit in May of 1996. But compared to Remember the Magic, Tapestry of Nations, and the Toy Story parades, I have no memories of this nor did I care about it.

As a result, this is the only Disney parade we have on video. Yup. Years later I became a cast member so I guess the mesmerizing mania got me? No longer a cast member so I love watching your channel when I need some extra magic!

Well that was an uncomfortable flash back 😂 And if you ever get to Disney Cruise shows- I have complete videos of both Hercules and Ghost Ship from the old days before they banned video cameras! Back when Hades had actual fire coming out of his head.
I just discovered your channel and I died laughing at this video in particular. I loved how you were slowly being invaded by Mickeys. I’m glad I never saw this parade. It’s horrifying.
I can't remember if you ever talked about "America On Parade", but its the one with the creepy doll looking things called "The People of America" or something like that. The dolls were also used in EPCOT for a bit.
[ * cuts to dan holding mickey mouse plushes and wearing mickey mouse sun glasses*] me: WHAT IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!! A FEW MOMENTS LATER... dan: what's going to my set it's true mickey mania IT'S TRUE MICKEY MANIA!!! me: IT IS TRUE MICKEY MANIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!
Dan: Who needs more Mickey plushies?
*gradually 50 Mickey plushies appear in the set-*
Including a few that stare straight into your soul.
Yeah, that's Dan, all right
*I need more mickey plushies.*
Max’s part killed me!!! I was like “mickey wants to what now” 🤣

Getting down harder than any costumed character ive seen
Busting it down sexual style
he was high like any good disney cast member
VIBING
@BK Beatty Why did you're joke make me sad?
Remember, it's not a 90s Disney parade without walking gloves or shoes you can drive in!
Disney should bring back this parade without any announcements, just out of the blue so we can see the public's reaction!
i would want to go lol
I don’t think Walt Disney is not going to be happy. Sophia,

Pooh is giving me left reindeer vibes ALL THE WAY
HELP THATS SO FUNNY-
Each scene with just you kept getting more and more mickeys. I noticed only once you were holding one.
OMG SAME LOL
I only noticed after the plush segment lmao
I just noticed after he got the glasses lol
I like that the hand walking Mickey just had a Mickey head slapped onto the bottom of the costume. 😂
And the army😂😂😂
I was at Walt Disney World twice when this parade was running and I distinctly remember them playing the music so loud that you could hear it from across the park. The theme song has been in my head for decades.
Seeing Dan break into laughter not even 5 seconds into the parade makes me think this is gonna be good.
Just call this "Mickey's Overdone Ego trip"..... XD
“When Mickey met acid trips.”
More like “Mickey the narcissist”
The Mickey wtf parade
@@madaboutmonsters9957 Yep! :)

But that fancy foot work is so fresh!
The fact that he says "subtle" right as it cuts to him wearing Mickey Glasses and smothered in mickey plushies is... *chef's kiss* magnefique

Mickey doing a Handstand & releasing a song called “Ice Ice, Mickey” is very 1990s.

This unlocked a memory of Mickey Mouse watches being the THING when I was in middle school in the early/mid 90s 😅
EVERYTHING you do is AMAZING, Dan!
It's ALWAYS a PLEASURE to see one of your videos!

Remember the old saying Dan,
Fill your house with mouse from roof to floor, and keep the big bad wolf from your door.

I think playing a walking Mickey watch is the Disney parade version of being a tree in the school play.
Goofy was nuts but Mickey. Man, his ego is nuts
Max's little speech sounded like if you forced one of those AIs to write a script only using early 90s slang.
I have to agree with how creepy this parade, especially the Mickey-like Weebles and Goofy and Max’s “balloon firefighter” float thingy.
