    In 2005 at the age of 38, I contracted HSV 2 Encephalitis ( it states HSV2 on my hospital report). I had pain in my head like I have never experienced before and I am exceptionally lucky to have survived. I remain concious throught although my state of awareness was considerable altered at that time. I was treated with IV Acyclovir over a period of 11 days and sent home. I spent a year having speech and physiotherapy and the exhaustion and inability to stay awake for very long was debilitating for about 2yrs afterwards. I have been left with an acquired brain injury and neurological pain which affects my body in giving me pain, discomfort, reduced muscle strength esp in my upper arms and of course chronic fatigue. My immune system is also not as strong as it was before the Encephalitis and I am no longer able to work. But life goes on and I am a happy bunny :o)

      I didnt know that type 2 can cause encephalitis. Lisa, rather than thinking about what "you think" you have missed think of what you can have from now on. Also, as far as I can see, you are able to see and use your fingers for typing. So, you are still capable. Stop torturing yiurself with those sort of thoughts.😉

      Lisa, I would like to contact you through email if you are willing. I have a relative suffering with this. He is still in the hospital, and has been there for 8 days. I would like to discuss what we all do when he comes homes. A real life experienced perspective.

    My daughter, eight months old, had herpes simplex encephalitis and had to be treated with aciclovir for three and a half weeks.
    She had rapid fever attacks up to 40°C again and again, but only a seizure with lumbar puncture brought the knowledge after 4 days. After that it was so bad that we had to spend three days in the intensive care unit in critical condition.
    We were very lucky, she only has a small scar in her brain and so far there are no abnormalities in her behavior.
    Nobody knew before how dangerous herpes can be.
    Fortunately, we live in Germany and our daughter received the best possible care.

    Hi. In August 2019 , I was diagnosed with viral encephalitis and with lesions in the corpus splenium. I had severe headaches, high fever, confusion and was later also in a coma. I was admitted to the icu for an entire week and was discharged. I am now doing ok, but I still have headaches and am also on medication for seizures. Thank you for creating this video because everything you described here I happened to go through.

    I think I have this! Severe fatigue, anger, some nausea, intense chocolate cravings, ADD, inflammation, joint tightness and a swollen pre frontal cortex.
    I have HSV1. I'm currently on an enormous supplement protocol and will start taking my Acyclovir. Thank goodness I found this before more serious symptoms show up. Should I still see a Dr.?

    I used to get cold sores. (In my fourth grade school picture, the evidence is easily visible.) However, now, and for years now, maybe for 20 years now, I can feel that feeling when one is coming on, but then they NEVER break out anymore. Never. Is it possible that I've developed some type of immunity or antibody that could somehow be helpful? Even if just with the breakouts of cold sores many people suffer with so greatly? I am here because my sister was just today diagnosed with Herpesviral Incephalitis. It would be such a great honor and answer to prayer to be able to help her, and others, somehow via this phenomenon of my no longer being victim to the cold sores breakouts. Thanks so much!

      Few reddish spots could be spotted inside my genitals as well as thighs. It is already been with me for most of my entire life. The initial couple of days, it was a little flaky. The irritation are all gone subsequently after using this Herpes guide *4HerpesCure .Com* Within the 4th day, I recognize that my very own cheek don`t have any flakiness and also the section has completely cured..Immediately after the 4th day of using the guidebook, I recently found the flakiness to be vanished and the afflicted part now are recovered. .

    Great, informative video, thank you so much. My 55 yr old Husband was admitted on the 15th July 2023 with encephalitis simplex herpes virus. I had never heard of it prior. He was in ICU 11 days, then into a regular ward for almost 2 weeks. He's back home and recovering well & has great support by the hospital, speech, physiotherapy & occupational therapy.
    His main issues are memory, remembering names of people, mainly new people in his life. Remembering in general , fatigue and he also feels the cold more.(although we live in Portugal and it's quite warm here at the moment)

      @@encephalitisinternationalhello im so sad because my mother was diagnosed with viral encephalitis last August 5, 2023. It started with Shingles which get out in her neck up to her head. It was so near the brain. She was intubated from August 7, 2023 up to August 18, 2023. But unfortunately she didn't make it when she extubated. She has multiple cardiac arrest. We are so wary at first not to let her intubated but her ABG result was 48% oxygen level. Please enlighten us if we done wrong because we let her intubated. Thank you so much

      It's very rare (1-2/million); but, unfortunately, when it happens to someone you love, those statistics don't mean much. Sending out prayers for all future cases that the diagnosis are quick and Acyclovir is administered timely! Sadly, I'm learning just how devastating this disease can be otherwise! I had no idea!

    Would Compression such as sleeping on the side of your face trigger the virus? I often get sharp pain in that area when sleeping on my side. I used to get cold sores on my lip but now it’s moved to my gums. I always feel very unwell with every out break. I often wonder why as I know other people who get sores on their lips feel fine. I end up in bed for days with flu like symptoms. Do patients who have suffered with this have to take lifelong acyclovir to prevent recurrence?

    • @encephalitisinternational
      @encephalitisinternational  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Claire, thank you for reaching out. As far as we know, nerve compression isn't the trigger for HSV1, It's more that the virus has managed to bypass the immune system - it may be that the immune system is tied up trying to fight another infection. With regards to the acyclovir, some people do go on long courses of the drug, but there is no hard and fast rule. For more information and advice, please call our support team on +44(0)1653699599, or email us on support@encephalitis.info

    Is it possible to not have a fever when HSV Encephalitis presents itself? Can the virus continue on for 3-4 months if untreated?

    • @encephalitisinternational
      @encephalitisinternational  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello. In answer to your questions: It is possible that an onset HSV - Encephalitis event could present without fever, or a fever event may have been mild and short lived. This would be considered rare and unusual, however. A HSV- neuro infection would normally require urgent medical attention. The patient would become acutely unwell very quickly. Untreated the likely hood of mortality is very high indeed. There is always the possibility of an atypical presentation, and one could never exclude the possibility of a subacute presentation. If you have any more questions, we would recommend emailing the support team at support@encephalitis.info - hope that helps!
