On the glass removal on the 58 Belvedere, you're really lucky you didn't break the glass. The seal unfolds , and the glass lifts right out. On installation you put the seal on the pinch weld and set the glass in the seal and fold it back into its self. Take a good look at the seal and I'm sure you'll see how it works. They don't make them like they used to do they?

      @nhmtrhd 2 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Your explanation is correct.
But please don’t forget the 60+ year old original rubber glass seal has shrunk and is about as pliable as 25yr old roof shingles!
Laminated w/s’s rarely tolerates pushing and prying. Tempered backlites can have a better survivability rate with rough handling.
But anytime you see anyone prying on any glass, run the other way, fast! 😉

He is half right. The much harder urethane bond also makes the metal structure more rigid so less metal is needed for the vehicle’s construction. Plus making it lighter and cheaper to manufacture. Also safer in a rollover.

Sixty-four year old rubber doesn't really fold. Working on these when I was young I found sometimes fifteen year old rubber doesn't fold depending on if it was from the far south or far north and never garaged.

As I've been in metal fabrication for over 35 years The last 5 years building stuff for the nuclear industry (Y12 and TVA). I can honestly say:
The welder is the first QA person that should see defects, and resolves them before any QA person inspects.
Conversely, you can't bet the whole farm on an individual that does self Quality Assurance checks when they have average self-standards.
Also, you had at least 3 individuals working on the paint that probably saw the defects and just didn't want to mention it, to keep from stirring trouble or whatever.
And lastly, Mark is ultimately to blame. That's his name going out there. I think a 7 figure car is ridiculous, which only drives my point home. You'd better put the final stamp on the project before is ships. Once the customer get gets the so-so product, it only gets worse.
Nobody has time to do the job right the first time, but we always have time to do it over again.

If the next gen learns 110% of the trade before they are 100% responsible for the business the chance of it being successful after passed on is far better.
Just one company, a machinist company, I'll speak about was began and taught to the son. The son was completely knowledgeable about everything. Before that son died after retiring, his two sons had ruined and shutdown a 75 year old company. They'd worked there for their entire lives, but the hobbies the money paid for were far more important than learning everything he thought they'd learned.

@@matthewgibbs6886 When I bought my 68 GTS in the early 90s it had a terrible rattle in the door. Upon further inspection it had a messed up hole from the factory and a window regulator bolt had never been installed. I could hardly believe the original owner accepted that.
My father is the original owner of a 69 Corvette still wearing it's original paint and the door contour at the top is off from the quarter by about 3/8th of an inch. It's not something that can be corrected by door alignment. The contour of the molded panel was made that way.
It seems most people want their cars _"restored"_ not actually *restored* like they came off the assembly line.

Yep if was stopping the line, put the fork through the roof. If it went through the roof top? Body can fix it. Lift and sent it back to the body shop and run through paint again.
A one minute final line skip was $2500 in 1973. or 1.17 cars. I got paid 11cents to screw the rear shocks and rear muffler bracket in the car. Or $7.37 and hour in 1978.

It’s messed up but I’ve learned to lower the bar for expectations of services or have learned to do it myself and live with my skill level. Whether it’s painting my motorcycle or getting new water lines installed at the house. Everything during the virus the last couple of years really screwed everything up. There’s been a shortage of parts and labor, both of those the prices have almost doubled.

That UNICEF joke made me laugh out loud, and momentarily feel proud of Mark for coming up with such a good joke! Of course, that pride was quickly dashed when he mentioned it was from "Joe Dirt." A movie I've never seen because the wig Spade wears made the whole movie look stupid. I guess I'll have to watch it now. A lot of people say Mark's "unfunny" and/or he simply steals material from old movies and TV shows.. That he's a wannabe comic actor with no originality actual talent and simpmly parrots jokes and comedic bits he's seen in old tv shows and movies. Well, uhm, okay but he also... "UNICEF," HA!

HELO THERE' have you ever watched a pre trip video for a cdl tractor trailer/school bus endorsement ?...maybe that is how you should approach quality control before it leaves the lot...a checklist at very stage ...dipping, sandblasting, primer /paint ,bright work , ect at each station check off items that could give problems only experience will dictate the approach ...

Every time I hear that they have a "Bondo guy"..... I'm pretty sure the factory didn't have a bondo guy except the guy that filled the seam between the roof and the quarters with bondo instead of metal if you ordered the vinyl roof. And we know how that worked out.

He seems to be a great guy, obviously he’s a clown and it makes for a good show….but one episode he clearly states that his prices are a lot cheaper than most builders and you don’t get the exact work from the factory from them as you would from Mark….he’s spot on….if I had a mopar it would go to him hands down…..in that same episode he stated that he wanted to get as many mopars back to factory condition as long as hes living…and to help people out on costs…..he does it for families and mopars together…..

    • @scotmandel6699

For every instance of Advertising pollution that I see on youtube, I will encourage people to sell Google stock short. This sort of quick 15-second ad pollution causes PSD. Many people have told me that they have smacked their phones or throw their phones because of the incessant ads. They basically just delete TH-cam and move to another platform. It's so sad to see this amazing platform deteriorate in such a way. The best thing to do is to short Google stock to the ground. Plenty of fat money to short to $2
