In this video I'm taking you on a tour of my high school English classroom and showing you how I decorated and organized materials. First of all your class is sooooo cute!! That white lettering on those pink buckets!! LOVE!! Pink is my favorite color! My class is pink, neon mint and black. My boys give more compliments than my girls! I teach Sped Biology and Environmental Science by the way!

I came for the pink backgrounds and stayed for your greatness! I wish I had a similar classroom set up when I was in High School English. I had the same teacher for 3 years of his school, he was chill but the room felt like a blank grey and white slate! Made it hard to stay up! ❤what you are doing for these children!
Thank you so much! 💕 Yes, I too had teachers like that and it definitely made it hard to stay up and engaged. I vowed to be a different teacher than that. It’s important to have a bright, positive learning environment.

I switched to pink this year for my HS ela classroom too! I went muted pastel so I could keep some of my farmhouse decor but I love pink too! You have a beautiful room!

Hi Shari! I love 💗 your classroom! I’m a teacher too! I teach Heritage Spanish & Spanish to non-natives. Right now I’m teaching K-5 but my certification covers K-12 & I’ve taught all the grades throughout my career. I think your room is designed perfectly and the calendar is essential. (We educators understand why it’s there. No explanation needed.) I definitely agree. Students react positively to bright, upbeat colors. Pink is a wonderful choice, of course! 💗 You are so fortunate to have a microwave, coffee pot and mini fridge in your room! We are not allowed 🚫 to have any of these items in the classrooms in our district. 😢 You are blessed. May you have a wonderful school 🏫 year ahead. 💕

@@shariamourHi , thanks for sharing. How did you create magnetic labels for your white board and which whiteboard do you actually do lessons on ?
@@stacyr4768 Hello 👋🏾 I made magnetic labels with my Cricut machine. I used magnetic sheets and permanent adhesive vinyl to layer on top. For lessons, I use the projector screen. I only use my whiteboards to post my agenda and learning target.

Beautiful!!!! I love it!! Please share how you made the magnets on the board. I’m interested in purchasing a cricut machine but need to research which model will best fit my needs.
Oh wow! I literally just told my mother today that I should have created a tutorial on the magnets, and then your comment popped up in my notifications. Wow! That’s confirmation! I’m going to create a tutorial very soon. I was able to create the magnets using my Cricut Explore Air 2. However, I also own a Cricut Maker. I interchangeably use both.
@@shariamour That’ll be awesome thanks!!! Yup, definitely confirmation. Which of the two circuit machines you’d recommend for beginners? I guess watching a comparison video would be helpful. Also, thanks so much for your quick response.
@@michellepettiford2215 Honestly, they’re both suitable for beginners. It really just depends on your needs. For instance, I usually crank up my Maker when I’m cutting felt because Cricut Maker allows for you to use blades that are required for cutting fabric, wood, etc. The Explore Air 2 does not. However, if you’re only going to be using it to cut card stock paper, vinyl, and poster board, I’d say just go with Explore Air 2.

Thank you! I have a pink Keurig, but not a pink microwave, but the pink Keurig stays in my pink home office. As far as other teachers’ rooms being decorated like mine, the answer is no. At the high school level, most don’t feel it’s necessary. I guess I’m just extra! 😂

Hi Shari, how did you stick the foam boards to the wall? I love this idea!
Thanks! I used lots of Scotch double-sided mounting tape around the entire perimeter of the back of the boards and the center.

Hi! Where did you get the magnetic board configuration titles?
I made them on my Cricut machine using permanent adhesive vinyl and magnet sheets.
A high school classroom does not need a elementary calendar. Classrooms are designed for the teacher not the student. Most students do not care what the classroom looks like. looks nice though.
I beg to differ. Not only do my students care about what the classroom looks like, but they have voiced their opinions several times about how much they hate going into classrooms that aren’t decorated or visually appealing.
As for the calendar, my students and I both use it because I post important dates that are relevant to the students and they find it helpful. I think you should speak for yourself and not for every student or teacher. Thank you! 😊

i had the same high school english teacher 3 out of 4 years because i was honors and than ap and only one teacher taught those. I still talk to her and love her to death though my 1 year i didnt have her i couldnt stand that woman she still refuses to pronounce my name correctly
Oh no! I think it’s extremely important for teachers to pronounce their students’ name correctly. That’s an important part to a child’s identity. I would never intentionally not pronounce a student’s name correctly. That’s so rude! As to your other point, yes…I’m the only one to teach Honors 9th Lit and AP Lit, so my students take me for freshman and senior year. They love it!
@@shariamour teacher im sure would never get away with it now but it was a rural school 20 years ago. She insisted that was the correct way to pronounce my last nmae in english but bethune isnt english its scottish gaelic
and i wasnt her only student with my name in fact my cousin was in my class it annoyed him just as much@@shariamour
I fail to understand why you would decorate this way for high school students. It is more appropriate for grade school.
You don’t have to understand it. My high school students love it and rave about it all the time, so that’s all that matters. Carry on please!

Have you met high school students? They love looking at cute things. Those kids get excited if you at least rearrange their desks in anything other than rows.
@@lebana so true! I don’t know why people think high school kids are any different from elementary aged kids. They’re just taller with hormones! 😂
