New subscriber! I'm so excited that I finally found another middle school teacher on YT. I'll be a first year 7th/8th grade science teacher soon & appreciate your content!
So my actual desk where I grade and sit at during my prep is in the back of the room. The standing desk is mainly what I use when students are in the class
@@swinapatel9310 I have a chair next to my actual desk in the back so sometimes I have kids sit there that need more 1:1 help from me or sometimes they even want to sit there to get more help from me. I just tell them to come sit there and they dont mind
I noticed you don’t have a classroom library. Does your district not allow it? I have 205 books in my own room, in my library corner, but I hardly ever see other ELA teachers with anything similar. Am I alone in this? 😮
I do have some bookshelves with books in my classroom but I’m middle school so if they want to read on their own, they check them out from the library!
@@MrsKellyintheMiddle overall, yes. But I also had a lot of support from my admin. If I called them out with their phone and they refused to put it in the rack, my principal would come and pick up their phone and put it in the office for the rest of the day. I’m hoping they follow through the same next year

@@livmjev did you ever have to have a student move to sit right next to you for close proximity? If you did what did you say to the student ?

Could you share your schools policy on student cell phones?
Hi! Its honestly that students cannot use cellphones “bell to bell” meaning during class times. They only can in the halls and lunch

@livmjev that's awesome! We're cracking down on phones this year too so I'm looking into ways of keeping it easy and smooth
