Eyes are the windows to the soul. If the eyes are painted perfectly, more than half the painting is completed. Thank you for sharing the perfect video. Wonderful Watercolor Wednesday🎉
Gorgeous and most beautiful eyes by one of the most wonderful guru( teacher) of this century.❤❤❤ guru means teacher in hindi Indian language. You are superb sir
The shading in the elephant’s eye is amazing. Thank you for bringing us back to the basics. Whether it’s line and wash urban sketching or a traditional watercolour painting; letting the paint do its job is a fascinating thing. Cheers!
This is so much more enjoyable than endless swatching! Love the idea of doing these eyes and there are endless animal/bird/fish.... eyes to try. We have not heard Margot's voice in a while. I hope she cuts in soon!
Absolutely love these short exercises! I always learn so much and it’s no pressure to create a “masterpiece”. If I mess up, I just tell myself that it’s just a sheet of paper! I can always grab another sheet of paper. Thank you for your tutorials- I look forward to Wednesday for your tutorials and Saturday for Margo’s challenges.
Thank you so much-I have no trouble with coloured pencil animal eyes but have shied away from trying in watercolour.I am now off to try these 3 I really like these type of short lessons, more please.
These eyes are so haunting and beautiful! I love this lesson and I agree about color charts, boring waste of time.. Can't wait to try this.. Thank you ever so much
That was fun. Of course, I love your shirt. And glasses. I paint a lot of animals. Mainly sheep and dogs; that video will help me. Thanks for the fun video.
I love how you used a variety of washes, textures techniques, & different types of highlights for each of these eyes. It is definitely a great help breaking down how to accomplish each different eye for beautiful successful results. Thanks for sharing this wonderful practice video with us. 💕
Hi Paul, you are very funny. I love your antics combined with the teaching of Art, brilliant. Considering we are in very serious times, you are a breath of fresh air indeed. Keep laughing and keep Teaching.........GOD bless, Cheers, Laurence - a Bexhillian.
Wow!! These are truly amazing! Such an informative tutorial to practice eyes. The moment you painted the pupil onto the crocodile, it came to life 😮 Can't wait to try these! 🐈⬛🐘🐊 Many thanks 🖌🎨
Thank you very much Paul for the wonderful and very valuable tutorial. There are a lot of things to learn : colour mixing, different techniques ect. I have never thought of how to do different eyes. ❤️
It’s just amazing how each animals eyes are so different! God truly was creative when designing them. Your rendering of each one is gorgeous. ❤🐈🐘🐊And this is extremely helpful for me. I paint pet portraits and sometimes struggle with painting the eyes. I love all the techniques too. Saran Wrap is what I call it here in the USA. 🇺🇸 We just celebrated our Independence Day ..cough..no hard feelings I assume. 🙏🏻 As always much love and blessings to you and Margot. ❤
Your shirt is a riot. This is a great exercise in painting specific types of eyes. I super appreciate this video - thanks for being such a wonderful teacher.
Yes, the cling wrap is a challenge!!! I laughed because that happens to me everytime. I agree about mixing as you paint something. Much more fun. My favorite is the crocodile eye. Superb tutorial for us to follow. Thank you again.
That comment about the cling wrap made me laugh and remember my father in law who passed away when he was 95 11/12. When we visited him at his home, he had 3 started rolls of cling wrap all stuck on themselves, none of them usable!!! He was a treasure. Joyce
Fabulous excercises Paul, thankyou. A little tip regarding the cling film. Keep the roll in the box, pull out the required amount, hold the box vertically and then pull the cling film from the top, downwards along the serrations. Not perfect but less frustrating 😂
Thank you for taking the time to find an exercise in painting for us! Enjoyed this a lot - all your tips and expertise and just listening to you discuss and explain while demonstarting! We can all learn from this!! :0)
Again, I learned a lot from this tutorial and had fun. I enjoyed it from the first minute to the end. I paint animals the least. But I couldn't stop doing this. Thanks, Paul.😊👋
Ha!!! Mixing color charts. NEVER!! Drives me crazy. And the relevance thing is also true for acting; one has to DO it and make mistakes. I needed these lessons today, haven't painted much of anything since early December. I miss it yet am terrified to pick up a brush. Thanks so much, sending a cup of coffee your way...I hope! J
Amazing! Love the method with splattingtoget speckles in the crocodiles eye I think that old be used for speckles animal fur. The cats eye is gorgeous and the cling film wrinkles are a great technique thank you
Amazing! I have been painting for 30 years and I do things so differently. I don't usually paint wet on wet or mix the colors on the watercolor paper. Also, whenever I try to use gouache it feels so pasty on top of the watercolor. I will try again. Thank you for some new ideas. God bless. Joyce
Thank you Paul this was another great tutorial. It was so interesting to see how each eye is so different and I loved seeing how you did your washes. I really struggle with the consistenecy of the paint. Loved this!
Lol you are so funny ! I can’t wait to use this technique painting animals and dinosaur eyes for my grandson! I ordered your 5 brush set for my birthday last Wednesday , I hope they arrive this week ! Thank you Paul you are the best ! Sending you and Margot many blessings from WA state !
I'm really going to try these. I am interested in painting animals in watercolour and these would be a great start. The croc eye reminds me of a photo my husband took a few years ago. When he entered a photo competition he called it 'Reflections in a Golden Eye', a Marlon Brando movie.
Laughed so much seeing you fighting with the cling film ❤
Cheers - glad you enjoyed it!
