Thanks to you Katherine and everyone for keeping this very important piece of American cinematic history alive on TH-cam. I grew up in Central America as a child in the late 70s and the local Spanish language television stations would play all the serials chapter by chapter on a daily basis which is how I got hooked on them. It's great to see you guys keeping them alive here on TH-cam. Serials on streaming, a perfect amalgamation and time capsule of the past and the future of entertainment. So looking forward to seeing all of these.
Love seeing the ethereally beautiful Katherine back in the intro chair. She is my favorite 12 chapter serial when it comes to exciting, breathtaking, thrilling adventures. In my cliffhanger dreams anyway! ❤❤❤
Thanks for posting this and I'm looking forward to watching it later! And who can forget Lyle Talbot's extraordinary performance in the sublime "Plan 9 From Outer Space?" I certainly can't!
Lyle Talbot fans shouldn't miss his best performance in non-cheesy cinema, Three on a Match (1932). His daughter said he thought that was his best role ever, and I can't disagree. (A couple others in the cast had more auspicious career trajectories: Bette Davis and Humphrey Bogart!)
Great to see Republic Stunt regulars Dale Van Sickel and Tom Steele in this serial. Val Sickel went on to do the stunt driving for Dennis Weaver in " Duel ". Tom Steele went on to do " The Towering Inferno " among many others. Both great and in demand Utility Stunt performers.
Victor sen young also starred in Charlie Chan movies he also played Hop sing in Bonanza back in the 80s he was cooking in his gas stove sprung a leak and he died of asphyxiation unfortunately
To save the cost on making these cliffhangers they use the same footage in a lot of the Republic serials to keep the cost down if you notice like a car going over a cliff it's a 1940 model and then when it falls off the cliff it's a 1930s model car.
Lots of stock footage from much better Republic serials (Haunted Harbor and Drums of Fu Manchu come first to mind), but not bad considering its late date.
Lauter might be even more famous for his uncredited roles. He appears as one of the Army soldiers who first confront Klaatu/Michael Rennie at the very beginning of 'The Day The Earth Stood Still'. Also as one of a pool of newspaper reporters (among them the disguised Catwoman Lee Meriwether ) interviewing Batman early on in the 1966 movie.
Arline was also in the Cagney gangster classic ,white heat. She played the undercover wife of Edmond o brian. She was very beautiful , but , somewhat wasted at Republic in very lite roles , also harry was also in white heat. When undercover cop O'Brian sneaks a electric device on cagney's gas truck , harry is in one of the two cars tracking the gang.
I noticed that as well. In the 50s Republic was cutting the budgets quite at bit. They always recycled footage, but it became much more common in the 50s.
I have both Green Hornet serials on my channel. As far as I know, only one Shadow serial was made. There were other Shadow movies made, but they were not serials. I can check to see if any of them are in the public domain.
this was a well done story. my only question, they knew who the bad guys were if not the leader. why weren't they captured. any way it was a good story.
Pretty good serial from republic. Love the fist fights. Dale van Sickel was Harry Lauter's stunt double. Thanks for posting this.

Great series great cast of actors.

So many streaming channels right now i don't know which one to choose...less was more ! Greetings, Tom, Brussels, Belgium.
That's my cue to say, with so many channels to choose from, we thank you for choosing Atomic Age Pictures! 😁
Thank you, good quality.
TV was replacing serials by this time but they would find a new home there too for kids to enjoy
Lyle Talbot was in just about everything I saw as a kid. A very familiar face.😊
Lots of stock footage from much better Republic serials (Haunted Harbor and Drums of Fu Manchu come first to mind), but not bad considering its late date.
Yep that's the nature of 50s Republic serials and their budget cuts.
Robert Shayne aka Inspector Hencderson
@@AtomicAgePictures there's also stock footage from SOS COAST GUARD

I also noticed at the beginning that's your insignia is shaped like boomerang the cartoon channel
The boomerang was a common mid 20th century design motif.

concept of the serial is good, but too many scenes are from another Republic serial from 1937 SOS Coast Guard with Ralph Byrd and Bela Lugosi
Yeah its the nature of late stage Republic serials and the lower budgets.
Trader Tom of the China seas is very similar to haunted harbor they have used the same footage in each of these cliffhangers
I noticed that as well. In the 50s Republic was cutting the budgets quite at bit. They always recycled footage, but it became much more common in the 50s.
Need to turn up volume on the download.
Can you put more serials of the Shadow and Green Hornet on your channel.
