Hi Glenn, shame about that oil lamp but at least you got the rain you wanted. A beautiful sound on the roof of the tent. Did it rain through the night? Both of my zips broke the same way as yours. Seems the older model of the tent had YKK zips, but this 2021 version uses cheap ones. The only fix I found was if you look inside the zip track on the inside, where the seam of the zip runner has been sealed, the seal bit is like a transparent rubber/plastic texture. This seam seel appears to come away a millimetre or two through using the zip, and it starts getting caught in the zipper when opening and closing. I trimmed about a millimetre off the edge of this seam seal, and zips are working again (for now!) They are temperamental zips, very disappointing.

Hello and thanks for commenting. Sadly, apart from a few very light showers, the rain did not last long. At least I got some!. I'm not entirely sure how my zip got jammed, I suppose I wasn't actually watching what I was doing, and maybe a gust of wind didn't help, but somehow it was the storm flap that got trapped in the zip. The more I try thinking about it, the more baffled I get! Think I will deffinitely take a look at that seam sealing tape later tho'.

If you had tipped your lamp at home you would know they cant be transported full. It pisses out of wick. Every day is a school day. Just found your channel. Loving it. Subbed.

Cheers for the comment. I last had a 'Hurricane' lamp back in the 70's (they were even placed on the ends of station platforms during all the power cuts - back in the days when I was a train driver). In those days they were built in Great Britain and of a different quality to the cheap chinese imports we get today. That particulary one was a gift from my daughter after hearing me talk about using them way back when. The leak was in part a silly oversight by myself, but also in part because the wick holder was a poor & loose fit. The glass is also wafer thin, as is the metal used. It now stands on window sill as an ornament. My daughter has since replaced it and the new one certainly seems to be better built and the glass is not wafer thin! Hope you have found the later videos. Happy days!
