You are bringing back some memories - and it is a joy to see you enjoy the hobby! Finding old kits in such good condition at a decent price is becoming more rare. I just hope Sig continues making kits. Apparently they moved, but operations don't seem to be up and running like it used to be 🥴
Awesome. These kits are gems, not sure if Sig will ever be back as they were. They appear to have a few planes now, but who knows if they will bring back the rest. I recently scored a Sig Clipped Wing Cub, the smaller scale, not the 1/4 scale. But what a beautiful kit. Thanks for sharing.
I learned to fly with a kadet mk ii in 94' just outside of Kuala Lumpur. What great memories, this really brings it back. Thanks for showcasing your finds, and for all the other content you make
Lol love the closing on the video! Awesome score and yes, kits can be pricey now if you can find them. My Cloud Ranger was made by Herr but sold by Sig (not sure of the relationship there). That kit is no longer available last time I looked... And any place that does have it is wanting double what I paid for it. I have just only really got down and enjoyed balsa kits in the last year or so. Hope you enjoy...whether you build it, fly it, sniff it, stare at it... And speaking of Sig... I heard they moved to a new location but that's it. They've been worrying me the past years or so but I hope they stay around.
Your finding of this old, unmolested kit is very similar to my example of finding my latest 61" Tucano, bought by our Club's president but sitting unbuilt / unopened even, in his office for ~ 17 years. A spectacular score on my part; you may recall that's what my new Laser 80 is powering; giving her practically ballistic-like performance (she's a .40-size aircraft). This kit has gone out of production for over 16 years and I 'm told and I've found out myself that it's one of the very best flying Tucanos. Just so chuffed :) Build your Kadet and when the weather allows, go out there and fly her. You must have a few engines to choose from, for her. Regards Harry
LT-40 is a blast, but I like the Senior and Seniorita a little more since the area I fly is gusty after midmorning, and they don't get pushed around in the wind as much. I like pull-pull tail draggers and with most of the dihedral taken out of the wing, but if you can't do it quickly don't bother. Without a doubt, these kits are 100 times more fun than foamies! Assembling that plane doesn't require much more than a small folding table, 36"-48" long is more than enough and you can stage prepped parts on a tv tray table or something. Sanding sponges are way more convenient than sanding blocks, and magnetic building boards are more convenient than t-pins. CA glue, gorilla glue, and wood glue could all be done inside your house in a temporary spot for a weekend if your quick. If you epoxy the hinges and firewall, you can knock that out outside or in a garage, then come back inside for final assembly after it cures and stops stinking up the place. If you are short on space, Stevens Aeromodel has some sweet smaller kits, as well as $20 wing kits you can practice on to refine your tools and procedure. Don't let the winter slow you down man, that's prime model building season! I like to have the model assembled, with the servos mounted, pushrods installed, battery straps installed, RX installed, wires fished through the wings and fuselage, fuel tank and lines measured/cut/installed and everything ready to go, so that the only chore left to do before flight is engine bench testing/install. If you get the engine running first, depending on how long assembly takes you may get a gummed up engine or fuel lines. Any chance you'd want to post a build log video?
Your comments are quite inspiring! The fact of my building situation is that I live in a small two bedroom apartment with my feline companion Sasha. Besides not having a good, private space to build an airplane, I have just as much of an issue in storing any framed up sections. My unheated garage is down three floors and across the parking lot; so again, not an ideal place for building or storing delicate items. Now I have been in this hobby for many years and I have built a LOT of airplanes, so I do know how to do these things. And no, you will never see a build series of videos from me on this channel. Have you ever made videos of building an airplane before? I assure you it takes away from the fun of building.
Me Too!! I just picked up a SIG Four Star 60 NIB from FB still in its wrap! It's totally mint ... Big grins ! David, thanks for doing videos again. You have brought much joy into the glow world mate. Merry Christmas to you bud.
Not learning to build and repair is why so many mildly damaged planes get trashed.I have taken trashed plane and rebuild thim unfortunately my age shaking hands has stopped my building.I have been a subscriber of your channel for years
Right on brother. First i love the FSR engines. Solid plants. Flying to me was always secondary to building. Was very rewarding to fly something you build, but i enjoyed the building part more than the flying. When it comes down to it. You do you.
As you said, there is no reward like the successful completion of a maiden flight of an airplane built by YOU! That is one thing so many younger people in the hobby are missing today. They are missing the investment of ‘sweat equity’ into an airframe. Transforming a box of balsa sheets and sticks into a beautiful flying machine is pure satisfaction! It is a shame that so many now do not know that feeling.
Sweet kit! Reminds me of the plane I once had. My Dad once bought me a yellow & red Paragon RC airplane, I think it had a Enya engine, Flew great. I didn't solo tho, Let my younger brother fly it once and He immediately crashed it in the back 40. The instructor tried to save it but couldn't.The motor mounts were cracked too, around 99 or early 2000's...✌👍
ARF’s are no where near as good as a home built kit. The ARF’s of today use inferior hardware and horrible and cheap wood. The last few I had I had delamination of the lite ply within one flying season.
Years ago before I created this channel and was an active member of RCGroups I had an extensive blog page. In that blog I wrote several series of building airplanes all with images. I did a SIG Astro Hog and one other airplane. That was a LOT more work to document all of that. It really detracted from the enjoyment of the build. With that said, you will never see a build series of videos from me. I refuse to do things that take away the enjoyment of the hobby. Building a plane is a very solitary and personal thing to do. If you desire to see build videos Miller RC on TH-cam has several.
For the record, the DXS transmitter is sold.
Sig kits are truly works of art and unparalleled in the industry. So much care and attention went into them.

Love the way your keeping the hobby alive . Just brilliant. Keep up the good work. Cheers Andrew.
Thanks 👍

That 45 FSR would be a perfect match for that LT-40!
Yes but i prefer four strokes. I have both a Saito 45 and 50 that would be nice in it also.
Absolutely a fantastic kit and flying plane.
Great video. Balsa kits and arf's are the best.

Enjoy that sig LT40 i bought sig 4 star 54 ARF!
Nice score Dave ,I'm the same buying things in bed 😂 id love to see ya do a build series mate 🤙
