I just dragged home a 1984 Yamaha 225 DX. Black and gold. It is a real mess, just a complete heap! Messing Lots and lots of stuff. Paid 25 bucks for it. Wonder if it is worth getting into or not? I'm 45 and it's the first three wheeler I've ever owned haven't had dirt bikes and quads and everything over the years. I know three wheelers don't come up very often for sale in my area so it might just be a project to tackle.

When I did this, I put the piston in first, then put the wrist pin in. Cool watching different ways to get the same results.

Man, I just scored a 1983 Yamaha YTM200E K. For FREE!!!! Where do y’all order parts? I can’t find anything on eBay or Amazon. I need a front brake cable and a choke cable. And a good cleaning! It was in a barn and ran four years ago!!!

A lot of the parts are interchangeable with Yamahas of that era. We use partzilla to cross reference part numbers and usually go from there. Best of luck. Thanks for watching!

Partzilla and ebay. With ebay look up different ways (year/model, part #, etc...). And keep looking, new parts pop up all the time.

When you use the new Chinese cylinder does it have an o-ring around the cylinder on the bottom? I tried using an o-ring and it didn't sit flat on the casing after tightening the 2 bolts by the timing chain

They had a paper gasket, not an o-ring. We didn't have any sealing issues at the crank. Thanks for watching!

All of the engines we rebuilt for the 225's and the 200 got the compression and oil rings, along with new timing chain tensioners. Thanks for watching!

any recommendations on where to buy piston cus keep hearing bad things about china's cheep products on ebay. the ones around 70 bucks every one says don't buy.

Good stuff, but I didn't get the answers that I was looking for. I swapped my 225dx motor with one from a yfm with reverse. both engines have 2 set of wires, 4 and 3. I could clearly match up the 4, but the ytm didn't have a connector, just male and female connections for all 3 wires. I can't figure out which wire does what. Everything worked before the motor swap, but at this moment, I'm not charging, no head light, and the push button start isn't working, but the on/off/run switch works. I was wondering if you would get into that if you swap motors on the one with the broken shift forks. Thanks. p.s. it is running great now, other than the 3 disconnected wires and what I mentioned.
