The narrative behind the Celtics had an easy road fine I’d give ya that if Celtics won every series in game 6 or 7 then ok you have a point … they won them 4-1,4-1, and 4-0 so it’s not a narrative they still took care of business.
They’re all high on copium. The Cs when fully healthy are, in my semi-casual opinion, very close to unstoppable. But it’s OK, these are the days of gaslighting on real issues, but manufacturing controversy and conflict where none exist to drive clicks. And many of us feed into it if it’s to either highly praise or full-out defend the teams for which we cheer. One of the silliest, in my opinion, is the transparent attempt to drive wedges between brothers. JB v JT, overreacting to who’s coming off the bench when, etc etc ad truly nauseum.
Another problem with Nicks graphic is that Tatums career isn’t over. He’s 26 and could still finish top 3 in his career. The teams on the graphic have the benefit of hindsight knowing no one ever made it to top 3 mvp
It's also just the most dipshit, do-nothing analyst way of looking at the game. Historical trends do not with ball games. Scoring a lot of points and stopping the other guys from scoring as much points as you did does. The only thing you need to look at is the recent performance of the teams in question and ask "can they do those things on the highest level?" For all the media bluster, basketball is a pretty simple game. It's putting together all of those simple things better than anyone else in the world that's hard. Boston has shown that they can do those things, no matter what bozo historical trend check-boxes they've missed.
Tatum sure above average player but top 3? i can’t see how he can surpass kobe. He is not even on curry”s level for now. At best tatum would be like a ray allen or paul pierce player nothing more.
Let's discount that the Celtics were the only team to win 60 plus games (64), were 2nd in offense, 5th in defense, and all 5 atarters are very good. Dallas is what exactly? Luka, Kyrie then nobody. Blows my mind, how they picked Dallas to win in 5...ridiculous

Lakers were fresh as a daisy, Celtics looked like they came out of a Mad Max movie. But no one remembers the road to the championship, just the championship.
Exactly. Plus these Celtics were never given any breaks for being in the playoffs without injured Gordon Hayward (twice), Kyrie Irving, Kemba Walker and Robert Williams pretty much every year. Even now they never mention Porzingas being out. It's just the stupid media narrative of the day that will never be remembered.
if you think the Celtics are boring then you just dont appreciate team ball. The passing of the ball and the cohesiveness in which they play is pure poetry when theyre firing on all cylinders. that 3rd quarter game 3 was textbook team basketball and it became an onslaught for Dallas.
He's actually worse than Harden on defence. And I thought I'd never say anyone is worse than him on D. Both of them legitimately do not know how to defend. They are capable of standing in front of an opponent and pretend to defend, but as soon as the ball is passed, they are rabbits in headlights.
Luka is too slow to get open without pushing off multiple times with his off arm. Yes, every star does this but Luka does it three times per possession, then falls down and complains, “He’s playing defense on me! Make him stop!”
Celtics haven’t lost to Dallas in 2 years. They won 64 games. Danced through the east. Have the best team in the NBA. And yet people think the top heavy iso dominant easy to stop Mavericks will beat them. You saw the Celtics sweep the iso Nets a few years ago. Styles make fights people.

I wasn’t sure how some of these teams would work out during the playoffs (Dallas Wolves some of the lesser east teams Knicks Pacers etc) but 2 things have been obvious all year - the West was the stronger conference - but the best single team is the eastern Celtics.
A lot of guys don’t get any recognition until they win a chip. An example is Tyson Chandler . After he won with Dallas . He made his first All-Star game and won DPOY.
The funniest thing about this run is that if Boston wins on Friday it'll be seen as one of the most dominant playoffs runs in the era, and "of course Boston won, they were the best team all year" and all the "mickey mouse run" and "Mavs in 5" garbage will be lost to history
Ok, so I agree with most of your points. That said, your opinion that this Celtics team is "boring", "vanilla", & "they only play basketball"? First off, what does "they only play basketball" even mean? What are they supposed to be playing? Croquet? Is it because they don't film themselves with guns on Instagram? Or they don't knock women up & then try to pressure them into abortions? The only "boring" about this team is how absolutely dominating they were throughout the whole year. Jaylen is an incredibly exciting player, so isn't JT. Throw KP, White & Jrue ontop of that, & you have nothing but excellence & domination. On to Nick Wright. Hes a total clown. His opinions are fueled by nothing other than petty, envious, hatred of Boston sports teams. He'll cherry pick, manipulate, & misrepresent anything he has to in order to make his idiotic drivel seem somewhat logical...even then, it still doesn't work. I honestly don't know why the guy is employed as a sports commentator, he's horrid.
Actually in this finals I learned that Maverics won't win chip in years if they stay like this because they need players to be more active and involved not 1 Luka and 1 Kyrie doing the main job. Celtics had team where everybody did the job and were super active and involved and importat, every starter player was an mvp in some point, they were a t.e.a.m. with no k "i" in it. And in first season after those trades... that's really impressive how the pieces fit together and so fast.
Because Boston has owned more than their share of professional sports for decades and fans elsewhere are envious and spiteful, talking heads have to have an anti-Boston guy on staff to cater to that audience. (See Nick Wright, Skip Bayless, etc..)
Great video, during the first 2 games it's clear who's winning 26 assists per game, 8 steals per game and 7 blocks per game for Boston vs 15 spg, 6,5 spg and just 2 bpg to me that's pretty evident which team is winning up until now at least. Thanks we have this experts in the media to educate us! Nick is more and more a joke!!!
I think the biggest thing, and this is something I've been saying since the Celtics lost in 2022, you simply do not win an NBA Championship with your #1 player being under 26. It doesn't happen. Magic and Bird both did it, but Magic's situation was a little different joining a playoff caliber team and having 6x MVP and NBA Champion Kareem as the team's #1 while Magic got into his groove. Tim Duncan did it but much like Magic he joined an absolutely stacked team and just made them better. Spurs caught the injury bug and were able to draft Duncan. They went from a 59 win team to a 20 because of injuries, then right back to a 56 win team. By the time the Admiral had faded away and Duncan stood alone as the team's #1 he was 26 before reaching the mountain top again. Luka is 25 and I'm sure he'll get one at some point in his career. These Finals exposed his majors weaknesses, and like any superstar he's going to work tirelessly at them and become better. It's what Jaylen Brown did after his left hand got exposed last year. Luka may never be a great defender, but he just needs to be good + in better shape and the Mavericks team will look completely different. Unfortunately for them, they'll still have to contend with a half dozen other contenders in the West.
The Drake curse strikes again. When Drake put money on Dallas to win I knew it was likely Dallas was not going to win the series before the finals even began. Drake's bets rarely payoff.
9:45 This is the whole series in a nutshell... Mavs even at their best just too slow to react, to defend and to basically do anything! ☘We got this to shove in all the Boston haters✊🏽
Geez three out of the five 50+ win runs to the Finals were Kobe, including sweeping the West in 2001. Might have the toughest competition for a GOAT candidate in history.
I don't find the CELTICS vanilla or boring. I love watching them. Tatum and Brown are like 2 Devil Dogs guarding the gates of Hell out there every night. They both are a couple of Hell Hounds andnI hope the CELTICS front office is smart enough to keep Tatum and Brown content as the cornerstone of the next great CELTICS dynasty and legendary front court.
I love how Nick uses that graph about the hardest road but yet trashes Kobe. Who you think on those Lakers teams Nick? Who won the championship Nick? Oh that's right. Kobe did.
Beautiful. Even if I'm pulling for the Mavs, the massive silver lining is Nick slowly turning into that 'teary eyed Michael Jordan' meme. Listening to him you're actually almost starting to root against the Mavs. He's that obnoxious in his 'biased rationalizing masked as sound analysis'.
The biggest joke is Nick's failure to note Boston's record against the West this year which was impressive (23-7), I believe. Nick didn't take that into consideration during his analysis. And yes, the number one seed is suppose to have the easier path.
The best moment for Wright when when he was droning on about how the Lakers had failed LeBron over and over again. Wiles says, “You’ve picked them every game in the playoffs. You’ve picked them ten games in a row over Denver.”
He once had Kobe top 3 all time. Once LeBalco and Klutch Sports started paying him, he switched tunes (just like LeShannon Sharpe) and talking smack about Kobe. LeBalco is paying people to call him the GOAT when he isnt. Deep down, Nick knows Kobe is better than LeBalco.
@@feynmanschwingere_mc2270 that's a real head scratcher there. why LeBalco need people to talk for him. How is he in the goat convo when he cheated his way to the finals and plays with another top 75.
If anything, a harder path only means the Mavs are a capable team. Other than that, it only serves to get Luka even more tired and hurt, wich makes their chances get smaller, not bigger.
Most teams that have won an NBA championship have a great player on their team, so I can see why people would pick the Mavs before the series started. Boston reminds me of the 2004 championship Pistons who had several good to very good players, played suffocating defense, but didn’t have a “superstar.”
The stat that I looked at is what seeds actually win a championship. It is extremely rare for a team that isn't a top 3 seed to win an NBA championship. So based on that I though maybe the Celtics.
Lakers basically had a cake walk every year to the finals when Magic/Kareem played except for Rockets one year, it was one of the reason they won so many finals while Celtics/Sixers, Celtics/Pistons beat the crap out of each other every year to the finals. To say teams with easy roads to the finals are less likely to win it is ridiculous logic. There's a reason every year where Celtics beat Sixers or vice versa in playoffs they lost to the Lakers every single time.

The narrative behind the Celtics had an easy road fine I’d give ya that if Celtics won every series in game 6 or 7 then ok you have a point … they won them 4-1,4-1, and 4-0 so it’s not a narrative they still took care of business.
Exactlyyyyy
Just a go-to excuse because others mad their team lost.
The only thing you need to look at is the recent performance of the teams in question and ask "can they do those things on the highest level?"
For all the media bluster, basketball is a pretty simple game. It's putting together all of those simple things better than anyone else in the world that's hard. Boston has shown that they can do those things, no matter what bozo historical trend check-boxes they've missed.
Tatum is only 1 year older than Luka
And ppl forget Luka had already played on the biggest stage outside the NBA before even coming over

Celtics was second in defense behind Timberwolf
Picking the Mavs over the Celtics was ambitious. But it’s funny how people realize they aren’t that good but insist Luka is overrated. Makes you wonder how an overrated superstar and mediocre team made it to the finals through a stacked western conference.

I used to say in the 80’s, by the time the Celtics got to the finals, they were beat up, as the East had 5 or 6 teams better than anyone other than the Lakers in the West.

@@fenixchief7he is getting toasted in finals!

When you rely on two star players as much as the Mavs do, you have no real recourse when either of them don't play well. Kyrie didn't play well during the last two games, so the Mavs had no chance of winning those games. The Celtics will change the NBA when they win the title this year; other teams will have to be deep in order to be able to have any chance of stopping the Celtics.

The celtics core have been tested against the heat for years. They know adversity, they know how to win.

It boils down to the modern "2K generation" They want 2-3 ISO Allstars on a team putting up 30 plus a night. When you see a well-rounded team that has 2 way players and not a ton of flash that's "boring" In reality the Cs are top 1 or 2 in rated defense and offense, 5th in rebounding, and won 64 games. Its sad really, they are a very dangerous team all the way around but because they arent social media gold or say controversial things nobody cares. The basketball heads and retired players get it but the general audiences missed the boat

The Celtics did a lot of iso ball against the Golden State Warriors back in 2022 and that didn’t work. We also didn’t have enough offense.
Smart and Robert Williams were poor offensive players and that was a huge problem especially at the end of games. They usually lost with Smart missing a last second 3 after going 1 for 12 on 3s during the game. Getting Smart out was the single biggest step forward.

This video should've been 5 seconds long. "Nick Wright is an Idiot" The End
the guy on the right is like... aw shit here we go again
You were spitting facts for 9:50 - Great content and analysis
The Drake curse strikes again. When Drake put money on Dallas to win I knew it was likely Dallas was not going to win the series before the finals even began. Drake's bets rarely payoff.

And they wanna downplay championship rings. MJ, Kobe and even Dirk are more impressive than his back to back, one in Cleveland, and bubble ring.
