Townes Van Zandt was one of the greatest songwriters of his generation. Some people (Steve Earle included) would argue he is the greatest of all time! Townes certainly wrote many great songs and he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Neil Young and other top drawer songwriters.

Thank you for the comment, Bill! I turned 76 a few days ago and I'm grateful that I can still sing and play! I used to finger-pick using thumb and first two fingers, but arthritis in the middle finger of my right hand has meant I've had to adjust my style. I now use just thumb and first finger for picking and strumming. But that's OK. Best wishes, my friend!
