  • Here's my vlog from day 1 of Polyglot Conference 2019 held at Kyushu Sangyo University in Fukuoka, Japan. 🇯🇵 italki CEO Kevin Chen spoke at the Opening Ceremony, and then we were treated to a Taiko performance by university students. Thereafter we had lunch, me stel flow polyglot, mingled and explored MUJI at Canal City in Hakata. The next vlog will have some speeches (and pics from all the cool famous polyglots I met! I was so starstruck).

Here's my last vlog from #PolyglotConference 2019 in Fukuoka, Japan. I gave my speech that day, but the full speech will be uploaded on the Polyglot Conference channel on TH-cam later. Enjoy some snippets from the event! Btw, it seems lots of people are asking if they can join this event if they're not a polyglot - of course you can! The conference is open to anyone interested in languages. We're all still learning and it's a great way for us to get together and share our love of languages.

7:05 - That would be a very interesting topic to talk about in a video!
I watch a lot of videos of "How did I learn English" and most people are extroverted, so they always suggest things like, just start speaking and practicing and so on, as a shy person, I would like to see examples of other people who share some traits of personality with me, but even so could achieve fluency in the languages they wanted to.
I don't if I made myself clear enough, but I'd love to hear your thoughts on personality x language learning

    • @Nicolas.Fernandes

Maybe it has to do with the abstraction. Like, words as "house" or "man" are easy to learn in other languages because we can associate them with the image, we can imagine in our minds the house and the man. But numbers, it's a more complex concept and each language has it's own way of organizing them (not even gonna mention the 90's in French because oh my goodness who the hell invented that)

🦎🙈 Hopefully the next Polyglot conference is somewhere with less lizards. :\ Thanks again for this video. I've been studying Arabic for a year now, and it'd be cool to go to a polyglot conference in the Arab speaking world.

I have learned 13 languages, speak 5 lang. I've seen a lot of so called polyglots who don't speak properly even 2 languages. On the internet there are a lot of charlatans

Right-handed, absolutely incompetent at math and music.
Still not a polyglot, though, but 3 is already something, I guess.
