First of all; Thank you so much for all of your gear and guitar reviews! Very well done; informative, unbiased, and concise! Your professionalism is what makes your reviews so good! I've got a feeling that you have a future in this Rock and Roll thing...!
Several years ago I bought a similar sound hole pick-up by Dean Markley, and love it! Recently I went to by another, but Dean Markley change the design to a permanent full length cable and male plug. I prefer the female plug attached to the strap button. As for the older Dean Markley, the sponges in the side slots work okay, but I've always thought I would be better with some other form of temporary securement. The clamps on the Viva sound hole pick-up solve this issue. I also like that the Viva pick-up can be installed temporarily or permanently. As for it's tone, it sounds great! I see now that this Viva sound hole pick-up is exactly what I've been looking for.
I bought one on Amazon a couple months back...works great. I drilled out the strap hole and ran the pick through the body by just enlarging the hole a little...works just fine. I would recomend it for anyone with a budget acoustic who needs to amplify.
Yes. the strap goes on and then you plug in straight through the strap hole. There are bunches of them on Amazon, different makes and price ranges, MaxxxwellC shows the model 11, I got the model 12, they look alike...but you do have to enlarge the strap pin hole but the wires are inside of the guitar. If you mount it the other way the wire is exposed but you can switch it from one guitar to another with out much hassel. www.amazon.com/ammoon-Passive-Magnetic-Humbucker-Pick-up/dp/B01M8HI63H/ref=sr_1_36?ie=UTF8&qid=1521130281&sr=8-36&keywords=acoustic+guitar+pickups copy and paste and you can see clearly on the amazon photos.
Dude does the thing sound good playing with effects like distortion and does it basicly do anything electric guitar does?(sorry if my termenolegy is wrong im a completer noob at this.i just want to know)
I have an electric/acoustic full size guitar that I wish I never bought because it feels too big for me now. So I bought a Taylor Big Baby which I love. I was thinking of asking my music store about electrifying it somehow but because of the virus, the store has been closed, but I think I found the answer. I saw other ads for electrifying a guitar but this is economically doable. Thanks so much for this video for "how to and why"!
This is great!! The Fender all mahogany CD‑60SCE electric acoustic with a built in tuner cost about $300. The non electric version is about $200, so technically speaking you can save a bunch of money by getting this external pickup and a built in tuner isn’t even necessary .
Very nice sound, especially for the price. You could also mount it the other way around, closer to the neck for a little more bass reflex. I like the plug idea as well. You could also run the lead-and-plug arrangement to the front strap button, and hide the wire along the top side of the fretboard to conceal it a little... for the visual aesthetics.
Funny, I just put this Viva Humbucker pickup on my Yamaha 800 acoustic late last week, a nice low noise pickup. I wanted something to run my acoustic through my Katana and record, this works a treat. I personally prefer a 70pu/30mic+fx mix for that well balanced sound so far. I got mine on Amazon around $25 on prime. Love the channel bro!
I've bought the same one on Amazon after watching this video. The output level is not enough to drive an electric guitar amp. You'd need either an acoustic amp or a preamp.
this pickup seems as though it does what it was built to pretty well, sounds good. I had a Dean Markley sound hole pickup year's ago (still in the junk drawer infact) and I have never really felt that the Dean works well, or works at all it seems.
I'm getting ready to start learning how to play an acoustic guitar and what I just seen was totally amazing And it's something I'm definitely going to be looking into buying
I thought it sound great for the price and convenience. Also, I love the recommendation to mic the acoustic and blend it with the pickup going to the board or an amp... I hope to try that in the studio SOOOOON!!!!!
it sounded good to me,,I've often thought about getting one,,now I'll get two, my 79 Yamaha still sounds choice, and the Washburn WD20S will be enhanced too. Run to my Mesa Boogie DC3 and if it doesn't work,,it's my own fault. rock on,,i subscribed.
Yeah yeah the pick up but dude when is the nutrition and work out vids coming lol. Ive been searching for months for a descent pick up like this so I dont have to bastardize my vintage guitars and still get a descent tone without dropping a few hundred or have to mic it. Great review as always!
All there is to it, is to plug a guitar cable into the metal plug (the one that goes in the little leather piece on the bottom of the guitar) and then plug the other end into the amp!
I just ordered two, but I have a question. How well do these work with standard bronze-wound acoustic strings? Would it be better to use a set of jazz electric strings?
thanks for the review! It sounds good to my ears. What I find interesting is that the cable goes to the top part of the sound hole instead of the bottom, but I guess it could also be installed at the other end of the sound hole, right?
Yes, you can rotate it pretty much any direction within the soundhole. It kind of depends on where you pick. If you want to pick up more pick noise, then you mount it closer to where your pick hits the strings.
I have a beautiful old 70’s epiphone 12 string and it sounds amazing, I was going to do some gigs with my friend, of course being an older guitar it isn’t acoustic electric like my newer fender T bucket, this is something I’m going to buy and use and see how it works, I probably wont drill a hole for the cable as I don’t want to drill into the guitar 😂 but it sounds bad ass and I’ll re comment how it sounds thanks for the video
I don't know how to play guitar yet, this is such a helpful video on options for acousric guitars for those of us on a budget. Thank you, I now subscribe to your YT vhannel
I have a Duncan that mounts the same way, but has a 20ft cable to plug into an amp. It sounds good, but this one sounds better, and cost less than I paid for mine! Was this also the $45 guitar? If it is, what a decent sounding low cost setup!
Yes, will work fine on a classical guitar. No, I sold that B52 head a while back. It was good though. You can still find them cheap if you look around!
I had a problem with tomtop. I bought an Ammoon looper and it didn't work so I asked to return it for a new one and they offered me $10 instead to fix it locally...I refused then they said $15 I said no then they said $25 and I keep the pedal so I was frustrated like what will I do with $25 and a broken pedal?

Or don't drill a hole in your guitar and just pull you end strap button and do that mod with the end pin strap pin / input jack don't drill a hole in your guitar for a removable non factory pickup JMO
For only $20 or so this pickup kicks ass. I've used it live and in the studio; it can even handle some pretty heavy F/X. Thanks max
so can you connect it to an amp?
@@alexmartinez3683 It will most likely to connect to an amp.
I’ve been waiting ages for delivery, then I realised it was pickup only…
That's terrible 😂
Works
Dude..
😂
Finally, a legit TH-camr with actual info! I needed this pickup. Ordered!!!!

tripsichord dude, can the jack be used as a strap pin?
Yes. the strap goes on and then you plug in straight through the strap hole. copy and paste and you can see clearly on the amazon photos.
Thanks for sharing that info... I was wondering if it was an end pin jack or not. Have a great upcoming weekend.
tripsichord thank you so much!

Why does he remind me of Cisco/vibe from The Flash
I swear I was thinking about that
lmao yooooo
He even talking like him😂😂😂😂😂
I bid on one similar on eBay which came from China, won it for 2 bucks free shipping, works brilliantly.
i shall toss a coin to this witcher
Oh valley of plenty !!!
this pickup seems as though it does what it was built to pretty well, sounds good. I had a Dean Markley sound hole pickup year's ago (still in the junk drawer infact) and I have never really felt that the Dean works well, or works at all it seems.
stepvan Joe same here, mines in my sock drawer, lol.
He should’ve showed us how it sounds with distortion
I'm getting ready to start learning how to play an acoustic guitar and what I just seen was totally amazing
And it's something I'm definitely going to be looking into buying
why he so buff tho
$32 on Amazon as of 03.2020. Sounds good to this neophyte guitar noodler though.
I thought it sound great for the price and convenience. Also, I love the recommendation to mic the acoustic and blend it with the pickup going to the board or an amp... I hope to try that in the studio SOOOOON!!!!!
he should do a review on a best choice products stratocaster from amazon
very very cheap
I am warching this 3 years later and I wanted to ask you if you can do this and plug it into a normal combo amp that is used for elextric guitar
it sounded good to me,,I've often thought about getting one,,now I'll get two, my 79 Yamaha still sounds choice, and the Washburn WD20S will be enhanced too. Run to my Mesa Boogie DC3 and if it doesn't work,,it's my own fault. rock on,,i subscribed.
What if you put a strat pickup on an acoustic
they raised the price
What is it now and you think i could use this piece of equipment with rocksmith?
Yeah yeah the pick up but dude when is the nutrition and work out vids coming lol. Ive been searching for months for a descent pick up like this so I dont have to bastardize my vintage guitars and still get a descent tone without dropping a few hundred or have to mic it. Great review as always!
This is a dumb question but could it work on an acoustic with nylon strings?
2:50 song?
Sounds good, how is the output level. I find most of these to be weak.
It's definitely lower than an active / preamp setup, but it's still very usable.
I wish that you had shown how to hook it up to an amp. Good video & you have a new subscriber................
All there is to it, is to plug a guitar cable into the metal plug (the one that goes in the little leather piece on the bottom of the guitar) and then plug the other end into the amp!
time to play theme songs of my favourite games
I just ordered two, but I have a question. How well do these work with standard bronze-wound acoustic strings? Would it be better to use a set of jazz electric strings?
it takes a long time for the pick up to get to you 15 days still no pick up.
Thanks. I’m a sound tech and didn’t know about this device.
You are the best in TH-cam. Thank you very much.
Thank you Levent!
just order one from tomtop coming soon.
Great vid. More proof of how the guitar and pick up aren't nearly as important as the player.
Max is the pickup a magnetic pole type enclosed to work on steel strings or is it a microphone type
Sounds good
So this is for recording but not live playing?
Very cool. I am checking Amazon right now
thanks for the review! It sounds good to my ears. What I find interesting is that the cable goes to the top part of the sound hole instead of the bottom, but I guess it could also be installed at the other end of the sound hole, right?

💛1.1 T: 12:42A.
Sounds good especially for 20 bucs
I have a beautiful old 70’s epiphone 12 string and it sounds amazing, I was going to do some gigs with my friend, of course being an older guitar it isn’t acoustic electric like my newer fender T bucket, this is something I’m going to buy and use and see how it works, I probably wont drill a hole for the cable as I don’t want to drill into the guitar 😂 but it sounds bad ass and I’ll re comment how it sounds thanks for the video
Got this very one in the mail--and my soundhole is to small :-( Idk if I should return it or just buy another guitar.
For $20, its a no brainer. And like you said, Danzig would want to see you use it in a cheap acoustic guitar review soon :)
If I have a piezo microphone, what cable and amplifier do I need to buy to turn my acoustic into a semi electric?
I don't know how to play guitar yet, this is such a helpful video on options for acousric guitars for those of us on a budget.
Thank you, I now subscribe to your YT vhannel
Great option!!! thanks
I have a Duncan that mounts the same way, but has a 20ft cable to plug into an amp. It sounds good, but this one sounds better, and cost less than I paid for mine!
Was this also the $45 guitar? If it is, what a decent sounding low cost setup!
Yeah, same guitar!
I thought the same!!! Great info and subscribed
Will this work fine for a left handed guitar? With the mounting?
I just ordered 1 from Walmart $26.43 total delivery to my home,I wanted to play on my acoustic in my back yard (outdoors) 😬🎸
Another hreat review. I cant wait to see whats next.
Can we use the basic guitar techniques like string slap
Does it get in the way when you try to fingerpick? I'm kind of a wild strummer.
should work on Classical too, right? Great videos! Do you still have your B52 head?
Yes, will work fine on a classical guitar. No, I sold that B52 head a while back. It was good though. You can still find them cheap if you look around!
MaxxxwellC Alright! Thank you
Mine is an acoustic electric guitar but I wanna play it unplugged is there something that can allow u to do that and unplugged
Hey max can you cut the wire add a tone knob and volume to that to control the sound
can I mount it on my classical guitar?
Yes.
Can you put the pickup further back to where it's not over the sound home at all
Does it need steel strings instead of the usual nylon strings that acoustic guitars use?
Steel strings work better but if you have a folk guitar already you can't put steel strings on it.
They have raised the price on that pickup now it's actually $29.99 so about $30.00 now
great review :)
What's the product name
Could it be used on 36inch smaller classical guitar ?
Does it hum or is it a humbuker. It sounds good
Do you need a preamp?
Can i use it with rocksmith?
Awesome review! This guy shreds guitars and muscle. 💪😂
Can I use this on a 12 string guitar?
I need those
Where can I get this preciousssss 🧟 for my accoustic?
I really want it!👍 Don't hold back give it to me straight where can I buy one?
I had a problem with tomtop. I bought an Ammoon looper and it didn't work so I asked to return it for a new one and they offered me $10 instead to fix it locally...I refused then they said $15 I said no then they said $25 and I keep the pedal so I was frustrated like what will I do with $25 and a broken pedal?
Wow, that's bizarre! As if you could actually have an effects pedal repaired locally for $10. Hopefully the pedal wasn't much more than the $25?
MaxxxwellC it was $38. They eventually refunded the full total but it was upsetting cause now I'm on the hunt for another looper.
natural output
Where's the friggin link to buy it?
will it pick percussion?
Awesome
Were you using nylon strings here? If not, does this work with nylon strings or do you have to have metal strings?
These are regular acoustic steel strings. It's like a microphone, it just picks up the sound, so no they don't need to be metal strings.
But can it works on classical guitars?
Yes, you can use this on a classical guitar!
MaxxwellC thanks for the answer. I love your YT channel!!! 😁😁😁
Does it work with a uke?
Does it work with tone bridge
Can you use this with an amp?
Not bad at all!

Muscle guitar MAX
Hi, could you do a review of a squire contemporary
Great Vid btw
I hope to in the future. I've got a backlog of review videos but I was checking out the contemporaries recently and they look really cool!
They want how much for an Indonesian Squier? Just get a used Mexi Strat.
Is this the guy from SLC Punk 2
In theory i can do this same at classic guitar
Be really cool if there was a Wireless version
My whole guitar costs $35
Wow! Does it play well?
Or don't drill a hole in your guitar and just pull you end strap button and do that mod with the end pin strap pin / input jack don't drill a hole in your guitar for a removable non factory pickup JMO
since I'm Romania,I don't think I can find those things.
Aliexpress sells them for less than a happy meal.
No distortion:(
Its 29.99!!
Goes for $30 now
less planky than many piezeo
It sounds natural.....
This video is a perfect example of Danzig...if he was helpful. And hotter. Plz wear a mesh shirt next video.
