He was s severe drug addict and no one else in the family cared enough to help him, just me. I went through a lot with him and we were progressing fast. It wasn't the drugs that took him from me but another medical problem caused by the drugs. I miss him and love him and will remember him. This song was released Sept. 26,1969 the same day that my eldest brother was killed in Vietnam. I heard the song for the first time the next day on the radio. That same afternoon my fiancee and I were married. This song has been dear to my heart ever since.

These covers from Emily with her huge vocal range and the skill to play piano or guitar at the same time are a little ray of sunshine in the darkest moments of 2020. Not sure what part of the world you are in but take comfort from the fact that your “almost quarantine” is the only way to avoid this virus. I’m lucky enough to live in a country where most of our fellow citizens have heeded the very strict lockdowns and made huge sacrifices to keep this virus under control till vaccines are available in a few months time. I hope that as we start to control this virus the world will start to return to normal, friends old and new will appear and you will feel less alone. Hang in there mate, at this point in time we are all a bit alone, but think about how lucky we are to enjoy this amazing talent that we probably would not have found if we weren’t locked in at home. A few weeks back I received a letter (yes on paper and in an envelope) from an old friend that I lost touch with 30 years ago. Of course I wrote back but I also wrote to several others that I had lost touch with over the years. All of them wrote back and mentioned how much more satisfying it was to get an old fashioned letter rather than social media invites from hundreds of people you don’t know. Try it. Just pick a few people that you have lost touch with and write them a letter. For some reason, this song popped into my head about a month ago (I was a teenager when it came out, long ago, in a much better time). Now I collect antique Sewing Machines one of which is a 1889 Wheeler & Wilson Company Machine. One is identical to the one given to Queen Elizabeth & Prince Philip on their Wedding Day. ❤
