@@qasimnawaz9376 I haven't done. It's sealed to the liner and to the insulation. With the water pressure and the Soil packed down tight around it on the outside it shouldn't move anywhere
You might have mentioned it, and I could well have missed it, but what size are the sleepers you used? Are they 8" x 4", or even bigger?
There a little bigger than 8"x4" They were 240mmx120mmx2400mm. Softwood pressure treated
Great video, can I ask where did you get your skimmer from.
Skimmer was from absolute koi
Hi what did you use to drill the return flange holes cheers
Will it be ok with the wood shrinking when dry and expanding when wet?
It's certainly should be. Wasn't an issue on my old pond. Will find out soon enough though
Great work Danny! It’s looking really good. What type of drill bit did you use and was it hard keeping it straight? Any tips there? Did all the rebar go through?
I used a 450mm long 12mm auger drill bit. Drilled through the top layer into the one below, took the top row off then carried on the hole. Lined up perfectly that way, got all the rebar through with no issues
@@dannycurrie1 Great! I saw that in the vid but wondered if it worked practically. I can see myself making a mess of the drilling and then not being able to knock through the rebar. Assume it was also 12mm rebar? I’m going to give it a go!
@@riche5901 it was easier than I expected it to be to get the rebar through, get yourself a lump hammer to wack it through, don't try and use a small one. I did try a 13mm drill bit but it made the hole too lose. Needed the 12mm and yes 12mm rebar. Seems to have held up well, I've got no bowing on the sides.
@@dannycurrie1 Yeah it's looking great and some very happy fish! 🙂 Sorry to hear about the shock. Will definitely take your advice there and get a spark to run out a cable on a RCB
@@riche5901 thanks mate. The shock was before the fish went in luckily. And it was quite mild as the current was going through the wood of the shed wich is a poor conductor, had the shed been metal it could have been a different story. My problem is actually in the house not the pond but 100% worth getting a sparky out. I've got 1 coming soon. Currently can't use my houses heating as it's on the faulty ring that the pond was on
Hi looking good,I've just seen this as first video have did you fix sleepers to ground, are they on concrete or are we just all linked together,do you have video link showing how you fixed them please
Hi mate. The sleepers aren't fixed to the ground atall, there not on any concrete, just straight on the ground. Will probably shorten there lifespan but there still all good at the moment
Danny
What kind of kingspan did you use as there seems to ne a lot to chose from
Can you tell me what model of skimmer you are using?
Danny, where did you get the re-bar from? Great job :)
Was from travis perkins, got a depot close to my house so I picked it up myself
What skimmer is that and where did you get it from?
what wood are you using for caping sleepers?
I used c24 timbers from Wickes
@@dannycurrie1 thanks I am building my own pond so wana do one like this but a bit different wat uv would you recommend?
@@Technologyadvisor1 yeah no worries mate. What's size will it be? Mines 10000l and I've got a 40w UV. Had a 25w on my old pond that was around 5500litres
@@dannycurrie1 I think its around 3000-4000 litres The pond size is 2.3 meters long 1.5 wide 3 feet deep aprox 1 meter deep. I was thinking of caping it with sleepers layed flat but forgotten to buy them as I under calculated. check my latest video out. its still in the building stage.
I like that skimmer were did you find it
From absolute koi
Do you have a link for the Skimmer?
Coming together well....only thing which is worth noting is ideally allowing base to dry out if your not concreting... Otherwise your end up with footprints an sagg on the liner in the base... Pain in the arse I know but a level base tampered towards drain etc is the ideal as I'm sure your aware 🙄
In an ideal world I'd let it dry out but could be waiting a while. I'll scrap the surface mud out and put a think layer of sand down so should be pretty level. Did the same thing last time and that worked out alright in the end so fingers crossed it will be fine
What diameter rebar did you use?
It was 12mm mate 👍
Hi Dan
What size sleepers have you used?
There 2400mmx240mmx120mm
The very top row is 100mmx100mm fence posts
Cheers Dan
Just in the process of planning my own rebuild but my current pond is already 3ft in the ground.
Have you laid them directly onto soil?
@@raymondcousins8894 they are directly on the floor. Didn't have an issue with my old pond. There pressure treated and tanalised sleepers. Obviously it will still shorten the lifetime of the wood though
need help have pond one air pump fitting 18mm I need to adapt to 8mm air pipe any ideas? The pump came with a rubber tube that is about 18mm but can not seem to find a fitting for my large air stone that has a 8mm pipe.3
I used the 'single air control valve' on mine. Hope that helps

Hi, what Skimmer did you use? Cheers
It's an ultraskim from absolute koi
Poly on the first works .I used sand first to get the shape I wanted then a sheet insulation, liner. looking good , overkill in strength 👍
I will be putting the old underlay over the insulation sheets before I put the liner in so should be fine. Might put some sand underneath to make sure it's level though 👍
Take a wheelbarrow to your nearest children’s park help yourself .😉😂😂

Has any one used 100x200 sleepers, with rebar for their pond?
Lots of people do and there mostly fine. I went for the jumbo sleepers just for an extra piece of mind
Not far now Dan👍😷😷
It's getting there. Hope to have it done before the end of the month
Have you been watching Carl and Alex
Yeah I have seen their build
You should really recess the glass into the wood buddy for extra strength and the weight of the glass ? Just saying good work keep it up 👍
I know what your saying but really it makes no difference. This way I've cut nothing out of the sleepers so they have the full witdth to support any outward force. The glass only weighs 25kg as its small. I've stood on the ledge to test it, I weigh 80kg and it doesn't move. 🤞 I reckon it will be fine but we will see. I'll certainly let you all know if I'm wrong
