    Great job! This is more or less the same construction idea for my up coming pond this year. I see most people go the fibre glass route with viewing windows, so it's great to see one go in to a box liner build!

    • @dannycurrie1
      @dannycurrie1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad the video was helpful :) if the pond was block built I'd definitely fiberglass. As its wood I was worried that any movement in the wood could caused the fiberglass to crack. But shows windows can be done in sleeper ponds. Mines seems rock solid and nothing has moved so far

    You’re doing a grand job, pond is really coming on well despite the weather/conditions you’ve been working with. Interesting way of sealing the liner around the glass, certainly avoids the creases and folds you get when pinning liner under glass. Keep up the good work👍😊🐟🈲

      Thanks mate. I'm so happy with how the window turned out. It was a bit of a gamble doing it that way with the liner in front. In my head I was confident it would work but couldn't find much info about anyone that had done it successfully. Like you say it avoids the creases and also if the wood moves atall the liner is only sealed to the glass so the seal shouldn't be affected by any movement, that's the theory anyway

    Looks very professional Dan!
    I'm planning a pond as well - could you elaborate a bit about the air coming from the bottom drain?
    How does it work (is it just air or is it mixed with water), the pump you used (external/submersible, model), etc.
    Also, did you take care of autofill?

    • @dannycurrie1
      @dannycurrie1  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The air from the middle is from an aerated bottom drain. The air pipe runs under the base of the pond and I have an air pump running it from the filter shed. There's some details on it from the video before. I've not got an autofill yet but I'm going to be installing one this weekend if you keep an eye out on my channel. Up until now I've just been trickling water in constantly

    Glad I found your videos just watched a few and am now going to watch a few more. This is similar to what I want to build. Will be my first koi pond. A friend has advised I dig out and do a concrete base then I will block up from that so the inside is nice and square. But at the end you talk about the dirt on the bottom of the pond. Iv seen that if you have a bottom drain you should slope the bottom of the pond so all the dirt falls down the bottom drain, I want to do a bottom drain with a box liner have you sloped yours? I’m guessing it’s quite hard to do with a box liner as you won’t have any liner to play with. What’s your opinion? Thanks.

    • @dannycurrie1
      @dannycurrie1  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your using a box weld liner the bottom needs to be pretty flat, you will get away with a very slight slope in towards the drain but too much and your liner won't fit. Mine was sloped in a little but with it being so wet underneath once it has all settled my drain isn't even at the lowest point. Hasn't caused an issue though as I've got good flow around the pond and no dirt settles. If I'd done it in summer when the ground was dry it would have been alot easier. Lessons learned there. If your block building your pond then yes slope it in to the drain properly but then have it fiberglassed would be my advice

    • @joshuabolton137
      @joshuabolton137 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea so much to think about think I might build the pond and then work out what I’m going to do haha. I don’t know how difficult it is to do fibreglass.
