The name of the fort is Kalam Darchi Fort ( KD Fort ).
I got my initial acclimatization training for Saichen Glacier here in KD Fort for one month in 1990.
I walked from Karakorum Highway to KD Fort.

This is historical for everyone and in a way very special insight into a corner of my own family history.
My uncle Muzamil Khan marhoom manned this fort some 70 years back. He was serving in the Pakistan army corps of Signals and they had set up a wireless station at this very
Qalanderchi Fort. He was there for a fairly ling stint and most of the time all by himself. This was in mid 50's. He was a great friendly man and very brave individual . Despite the age difference we were great friends and that is how he shared some extremely fascinating army life time stories with me which included his stay at Qalanderchi Fort and his adventurous final departure from there to Rawalpindi.
Thanks once again.
By the way Tajikistan and Pakistan do not share any common borders. Wakhan corridor falls between the two friendly countries. This corridor is some time as narrow as 22 kms at some places while over 200km at others .

In 2008 Me and my friend was done Mintaka and kilik passes at that time the post office and Army signal cor buildings were side by side and both are in working condition with staff.Trek starts from Misghar village and the fort was closed.Beautiful high pastures and singing streams are also available for explorers .Unique colour flowers are also available.Markopolo sheep's Murmote pika could be seen while trekking.
