Hammamet's name derives from hammam, the thermal bath (it means "many hammams"). The waters that flow from its springs have therapeutic and regenerating properties.
The charm of Hammamet is also due to its wonderful Medina, the old town, which, some are saying, is the most spectacular of all those in Tunisia.
The beautiful fort, known as the Kasbah in Arabic world, is found in a corner of the old town.
