Your voice is so soothing. I’ll admit I put on your videos to cam down and sleep sometimes. This is weird but have you ever considered a planty ASMR video? Plants are such a chill hobby I think there might be a crossover opportunity!
aw thanks so much! Glad my videos are calming for you 🙏 I've been told I should do ASMR and I actually love listening myself :D maybe it's something I can branch out and do one day!
I love that you leave kitty interruptions in your videos. Makes me smile everytime. I really love the long videos they help me fall asleep and thanks to you i have bought so many new plants. Im waiting on your restock on your website to get some plants from you! ❤ thank you for the hard work!
That 1st. Maranta is so Hugh and beautiful. I love your plant videos and the way you explain the plants and what you are using and what is best for each of the plants. Very knowledgeable.
Luna is a momma's girl for sure, she's so cute! She likes helping you in most videos 😁❤ Love them all they're so beautiful and enjoy your videos so much.
Luna is the best helper❤️what sweetypie. My calathea riseoptica was struggling so I moved it to pon, she had a giant fit at first and went down to one sad leaf. I threw up my hands and walked away. After six months she is giant and beautiful!
I find that maranta and Calathea don’t need a water transitioning period. I put mine straight into pon and fill the reservoir and it works perfectly. Only two days later they started moving like crazy again and there’s constantly new growth coming 🙊 I was really anxious at first but it does work wonders ☺️ I love your videos! They’re so informative yet relaxing 😍
I found mealy bugs on my lemon lime maranta. Don't know how they got there but thankfully I caught them before it was an epidemic. It is so beautiful now. I have a baby calathea burle marxii too. Can't wait to see it grow next summer. 😊
Can you do an update soil mix video? I’d love to know the ratio of tree fern you’re using in your mix. Thank you for sharing, I always enjoy your videos!
I have passed this plant up several times. Even the variegated one. But seeing it in the white pot looks so pretty. I’m rethinking maybe I should get one🍃❤ 14:19 Your cat is so cute 🥰
Ich finde es großartig wie du dich um diese o Pflanzen bemühst , damit hab ich kein Glück. 😂 ich steh eher auf so einfache Sachen wie epipremnum, variegata, oder Manjula ❤
Melissa I’m so relieved to see your video today I potted up a lemon lime Maranta in almost the exact same substrate you used. Whew! You have that Ctenanthe (?) too now I must have one! Happy weekend 😊 love your channel
You look so sweet, and your voice is very relaxing. Just careful Dawn (this one is worst) is a détergent not a soap, it’s very hard on leaves can damage leaves, remove protective coat, and if soap go in the root this can create a lock out 😅 This version of Dawn contain a lot of alcohol very good to clean to home I love it, but alcohol dehydrate the leaves and can damage leaves like burn the leaves calathea/maranta are sensitive to this. You can use black soap, Castille soap, soft on the leaves (and kill pest). Your Maranta are insane ! 💛
I like using clear plastic pots really helped me with my plant journey. Knowing when to water and check on the health of the roots. Also good to know when root bound to repot. I had my first Calathea Warscewiczii i loved the velvety leaves and the colour. But end up selling it after a few weeks cause these plants needs alot of humidity. I have different size plant scoops which really helps in planting different size pots and hard to reach areas with the soil. I don’t understand why some of the planty vlogs they like using there hands and also just out from the potting soil bags. Is a nightmare in cleaning up and horrible getting all that dirt inside your nails.
My calathea orbifolia had a similar reaction to its transition to pon as your calathea. It had been relatively happy in soil but I wanted to transfer it pon to try and help with under watering and browning. I let it live in water for honestly a while and it became very sad. I transferred it to pon and it slowly dropped every old leaf but was also starting to push out new smaller leaves. I decided to leave it and see what happened. it’s now been about 7 months and it’s way happier and fuller than it ever was in soil. Maybe calatheas just have a longer adjustment period?
Love all these humidity loving maranta and calathea. Yours are truly gorgeous 🎉🎉🎉❤. Great video 😊. Would love too see updates especially on the Rosa picta 😢. 🎉🎉🎉🎉
@@plantsbymelissa like you said some times that classification of plants goes dormant. I see your reluctance to throw it out. Good luck. 🍀👍 Happy Saturday to you.
Hi Melissa, I absolutely love this video. ❤ I love the marantas and Calatheas. I have calathea beauty star and Calathea Dottie in pon in my bathroom facing east and they are doing fabulous. I want to try more calatheas in pon but they definitely need the humidity, and I don’t have any more East facing windows. I agree with many others on here. Your voice is very soothing. I could sit and watch you for hours. Thank you for sharing this.❤😊
I have found over the years that some calatheas just dont do good with tap water. The zebrina, rosepicta (and other medallion calatheas) and the orbifolia I have struggled with until I started using rain water or distilled water. That seemed to solve the problem for me and now the plants are huge and the leaves all look amazing.
Hi Melissa, so that second one you repotted, (not sure how to spell it) I bought one and the leaves would not open no matter what I did. Why would you think that was?
What kind of light do these need? My silver band is putting out the tiniest leaves (like maybe quarter sized). They no longer have the red color on the back of the leaves, and you can barely see the pattern on the top of the leaves. They just look solid monotone green. Is this a sign of too much or too little light? They're maybe two feet from a grow light and four feet from a south east facing window. 🤔
aw thank you ☺️ I usually wash my hair at night and skip every other day but I don't use a lot of heat on my hair. My shampoo and conditioner is by redken. It's pricey but I love it and I compromise since I don't use much of anything else haha.
insane timing! i just repotted my rabbits tracks today and accidently ripped so many roots off because a thousand were hanging out of the holes in the self watering… sorry little guy! 😅
I toss the old soil yes but I wash out all the pots. I have a bin in my other bathroom that I put all the dirty stuff and once it's full I wash everything :D
Those roots are probably in the same state. I’ve repotted it once and I think it’s been in the six inch pot for a year. I don’t want to have to go to the eight inch. They are so big for the shelf it sits on. Hmm 🤔 what to do?
So far they've all done well and it's been a couple weeks. The bigger maranta lost some more leaves I think just from some shock of messing with the 2 year old root system but it'll recover okay. I'm sure it'll push new growth here soon. The maranta that I did the root trim with is growing even more haha. It didn't even bother it if that is something you might want to do with yours.
This is the third year I'm trying to make sure it doesn't die after the New Year holidays, for some reason Marata grows very actively in lekabr-January, and in February it abruptly goes to sleep and dies😢
항상~예쁜영상보고 배우고, 힐링하면서 눈에 많은것을 담아요~넘~넘 식물들이 예뻐요❤❤❤
Love the kitty being so persistent about cuddle time 😄

I love her voice too.
What is ASMR?

I could literally watch your videos all day 😊
You’re so kind thank you!! ☺️

That's amazing! I'm hopeful mine will get here 🤗
I have zebrina in pon and it grew from nothing to a big one in 6 months. It's really loving it
Good morning Melissa. Hope you’re having a great Saturday.
Good morning! Thank you!! Feeling better 🤧 Hope you have a good rest of your weekend!

glad you caught them in time 😄💚
I think some people call that ctenanthe a calathea. I call it a ctenanthe though.
I don't think you're a messy reporter at all. To me, it looks like you clean as you go along... keeping it clean😊
The Calathea Jungle Velvet 🌿 would've loved Pon🤷

I’m pretty messy. That’s why I bought a small whisk broom ti clean up as I go a long.
What a job you had on your hands. I would like to know where you got the blue Scooper?

Awe by the way, I love how the cats get so involved.❤
I like white pots, too.
I had that calathea but I let it get too dry and it didn’t survive my chair. But they are so pretty especially with the different color of leaves.

Hi Melissa. Would you know why the purple comes off the back of the leaves on calatheas?
Your bracelet’s cute! Where’s it from?
Would you ever be open to doing an update aroid and propagation mix video now that your mix has changed?
I've noticed you use a chunky soil mix for.marantas, how do you keep them so happy as mine always crisp or brown and die.off
Luna and Melissa are soulmates haha
How cute, and since you mentioned it I couldn't agree with you more 😉
she is my little child lol 💕
13:43 That moment when you have the same ringtone for notifications and now you’re checking all apps on your phone in search of it. 🤦🏻♀️😂
lol
I have so much to repot but been under the weather and lazy i guess
It’s always so nice to see Star. She doesn’t make an appearance very often 🩷
She likes my husband lol 💖
Aglaonemas go through growth spurts in the fall...at least mine do
Mine seem to push out leaves year round. I keep it about 73-74 degrees and grow lights with fertilizer every watering.
@@lisaanglim9588 mine do but they seem to grow more in fall though
Hi kitty cats 🐈 you guys are so cute! I just want to give you hugs and kisses all day😘
My ears perked up when you said Propagate. Do you think you'll add maranta to your plant shop, Melissa? Thanks.
I will eventually!

You know the roots don’t need to be in contact with the wick to get water they just need to reach the damp pon which will wick up the water as needed.
What is your hair care routine? My hair is long like yours and I admire how healthy your hair looks.

oh no! oopsy 🙈 Hoping it loves the fresh repot! 🫶
I’ve got the same plant but it was called a miniature amigris.
Do you throw out the soil you’re pulling out of the roots and pots? Or reuse it?
I toss the old soil yes but I wash out all the pots. I have a bin in my other bathroom that I put all the dirty stuff and once it's full I wash everything :D

i ddnt realize that calathea could be grown in water😮😮😮
She got what she wanted. 😂
That’s a lot of roots. Very little soil left in there.
I put these guys off for so long 🙈
I thought dawn was too toxic to plants. I kept reading people saying don’t wash your plants with dawn. Hmmm 🤔
it's diluted but yeah it can be pretty harsh. I normally use castille soap :)
😂 you are not a messy repotter just watch one of mine! 😂 I clean up off camera too no one wants to see that 😅
No I want to swish my tail in your face until you pay attention to me! Says Luna.
