Tony, attempting to add a subdomain to my existing Google hosted custom domain. I use the A method as described in the vid. I can then enter the subdomain in a browser and it takes me to a warning that it is not safe, go to advanced and it takes me to my NAS. I am attempting to have this subdomain take me to my self hosted Bitwarden (Vaultwarden) via reverse domain set up on my Synology NAS. When I attempt to get a certificate from Let’s Encrypt, I receive an error message “ Invalid domain. Please make sure this domain can be resolved into a public IP address”. What am I doing wrong? U
Does Google Domains allow email forwarding to a subdomain? I’ve created a subdomain, but I don’t see the subdomain as an option under email forwarding.
I am just trying to add a WWW subdomain, but you talk about having an IP. When I buy a new domain through Google, there is no IP address listed as in your first example How do I navigate that? Thanks, @tony.
Hey man, so if I am using A record to make a subdomain, based on your example in this video... You did "hello." if i wasnted it to come up as www. also i would need to add an additional A record for the "www.hello." ? I was going to add via synthetic records... do you not reccomend this, thats what i saw in another video so i wanted to ask that too. thanks.
Thanks a lot I was able to add my subdomain, but when I go to the custom resource records list there's no "www" and when I try to add it I get a name conflict message error saying it already exists. I purchased my domain through google domains. Is there a way to fix that?
The IP address is the IP address of the server that your website is on. This information should be made available to you in your hosting dashboard (i.e. wherever your hosting your website).
I don't know any of this tech stuff...My current www is set to CNAME. Should I also set my subdomain to CNAME? Or A like you do in this video? Will it make a difference if the www is different than the second subdomain? Thank you!
Also, if you have a video playlist on youtube linking all the videos you did on Google Domains please share, it will be great. Thank you for the videos.
The IP address is the IP address of the server that your website is hosted on. If you don't know it, a quick way to find it is to ping it. - On Windows, open up Command Prompt and type in ping example.xom - On Mac, open up Terminal and type in ping example.com (of course, replace example.com with your actual domain name)
Hey Tony. What are your thoughts about using AAAA records and entering IPv6 values instead of A record and IP address? Is there any difference in performance? Thanks!
I recently discerned that it is good idea to set different email services like newsletter, marketing, transactional to different subdomains than the parent domain of a website as it affects the reputation of the domain if something goes bad. Can you do a detailed video about this?
"How do we add a subdomain?" is answered between 1:50 and 2:25 for anyone here to create a subdomain in google domains without a seminar on the entire control panel. As Tony puts it, "it's a simple as filling out two boxes here," yet this video is 4 and a half minutes long.
Exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Clear and direct to the point. Thank you

How do I find the right IP Address for this since I dont already have that A record?
The IP address is the IP address of the server that your website is on. This information should be made available to you in your hosting dashboard (i.e. wherever your hosting your website).
@@TonyTeachesTech Sweet thanks - once it's ready - how to I add a wordpress site to it?
@@KristianAltuve Depends on where you have chosen to host your website.

You can do either. I guess since you already have www as CNAME, then put your subdomain as CNAME too
Thank you it's working

Can I use a subdomain to build a new website?
Yes
@@TonyTeachesTech Can you help?

I'm not sure what the limit is
How can I make that subdomain secure (https)? Note, I dont own the webhost that I'm pointing the CNAME to when I created the subdomain record.
I typically use Let's Encrypt for my SSL certs
I am increadbly new at this. How do I find my IP address ( 1:25 )?

Hey Tony. What are your thoughts about using AAAA records and entering IPv6 values instead of A record and IP address? Is there any difference in performance? Thanks!
AAAA will only handle ipv6 and not ipv4, so you'll need both to support both protocols
Thanks for sharing i thought i made a mistake by buying google domain
You're welcome!
This is great. Do you have a video where you talk about implementing a new website/landing page?
Yes! A lot, especially on WordPress

They only did it a few hours ago. Fairly recent changes.
@@TonyTeachesTech have you worked out how to do this with the redesign please
@@YosefB DNS settings are accessible on the same page, but to add a subdomain, expand the Custom Records section and click on Manage Custom Records
