I appreciate the soft quiet questions and the lack of self-aggrandizement from the interviewer. First class interview, good camera work, and no commercials... Very good.
A good interview, and excellent questions to bring out the best in a world class musician like Ann Sophie.,her wonderful insights into music, nee into life itself, is a must we must all listen and experience. Thank you.🙏
I really love the gentle and yet insightful questions posed which always deliver so much from the artist being interviewed. The gentleman is a highly skilled interviewer which makes these a joy to watch, thank you!
They are both wonderful. What a wholesome woman. I have listened to her many times but I did not realise what an insightful and brilliant woman she was.
It is so striking to me that he allows her to talk so freely and without interruption and even without followup questions. He asks a question, allows her to speak at whatever length she wants, and respects that that is all she has to say on the subject. It's so jarring and unusual to see a woman afforded such respect and undivided attention, and it's like a breath of fresh air. Thank you for such a generously long and rich session with ASM.

He's the epitome of a good interviewer. Thousands of other so-called interviewers should take note. He also has the advantage that he is with people who have something to say and are quite articulate.
Well, she’s as articulate and brilliant as I imagined from her many recordings I have acquired and the few times I have heard her in NYC. Her discussion of “flow” is insightful and inspired, her emphasis on “now” is another proof of her genius applied to the art of living. And the discipline she’s consolidated from a lifetime of performance is formidable. Her sense of the understanding of the sanctity of the concert hall experience is so welcomed by me and others, I’m sure. I love her certainty and strength. She surpasses even my highest estimation of her. Thanks to Zsolt and Peter for another memorable interview!
I really appreciate how our interviewer was able to get Mutter to talk about Karajan. Then, he continued asking really insightful questions. A very skilled interviewer indeed...and he let´s her answer without interrupting.
A wonderful interview with wisdom and humor in plenty. Anne-Sophie Mutter among the finest artists of her generation and Zsolt Bognar is the BEST interviewer ever.
What a lovely, lovely empathic, intelligent, expressive and down-to-earth woman is this treasure, Anne-Sophie Mutter.... I’m glad to be alive to hear her beliefs.

Born to communicate, with music: clear in her art, and mindful of the role. A wonderful interview shows a deep insight into our humanity. A strong mind and determined personality surfaces in Anne-Sophie's performances. A woman of such broad thinking and intellect is confronting for a male, because her existence is sensuality and beauty on steroids. Practicality is also evident in Anne-Sophie's personality. I will now endeavour to listen more acutely to her playing - and more often. Thank you for a transformative interview, to warm my heart.
I reeeeeeally love how you get these amazing musicians open in a very natural way. They finally show the human behind. Thank you very much for these beautiful interviews 🙂.
What a wonderful interview! I never cease to be amazed when extraordinary artists are so honest, humble and disarming. Her views on music, performance and life are inspirational and are words to live by! Wunderbar!
I love what Ann Sophie Mutter said about musicians getting all in, to the music and life. I totally agree with those who said the interview was very precious and contained many gems. I was very fortunate to hear ASM in Edinburgh last year. Her performance of Penderecki's second Concerto, which nota bene was dedicated to her, was a firework on stage, so brilliant and at the same time profound. And in this interview this living legend comes across as an incredible human being, very wise, humble and so infinitely inspiring. Thank you, Pete, Zsolt and Ann Sophie.
Absolutely brilliant interview. Maestro is so insightful, witty and shared so much wisdom. Also, I can't believe she is almost 60, she looks 20 years younger! :)

This interview is so precious. Thank you for an opportunity to reaffirm what music and life are. While traveling in Japan from the US, it is so uplifting.
Anne-Sophie Mutter was here in Chicago last evening, 22nd of October, 2024, and although unable to attend her Concert performing the John Williams Violin Concerto #2, I was truly hurting to not hear her perform & Offer the Music of a truly acclaimed American Composer, once meeting in The Pan Am Airline Lounge for Passengers in NY's JFK International Airport with an Engine on one of the 707 Jet Airliners falling off and waiting in the Pan Am Passenger Lounge with Coffee, Donuts, etc., and a young John Williams coming up to me carrying my Double Violin Case containing both my Concert Instruments, and asking me What was inside!? After a nice chat comparing musician notes with him from Los Angeles, my town of birth, yet on the way back to my home in London, UK, we did get on well with Mr. Williams asking me if I would perform many Violin Solo's to a Movie he was currently working on and to ring him once in London when we had finally flown back! Studying privately with Nathan Milstein, at that time & having just performed a major Concert in New Jersey, I was afraid to bring the kind Invitation of John Williams to the attention of GOAT Violinist, Only Peer of Heifetz (my first Violin Mentor: Jascha Heifetz Violin Master Class at USC's Institute for Special Music Studies & subsequently filmed in Khachaturian Mvt 1 Violin Concerto in the Jascha Heifetz Violin Master Class-Khachaturian, JH-7, Elisabeth Matesky {Rus vers. Absolutely love her spirit❤️ and what a comfort to hear hear her speak so openly about the fact that you can’t find that sweet spot at every concert!! Thank you for another wonderful interview 🙏🏻
I would like to share a memory... Sometime in the 80's I was invited to a very private concert at the Ephesus antique theatre (Turkey), with Mstislav Rostropovich and of course Anne Sophie Mutter, and a 15 elements orchestra. We were less than 100 or so people watching. Actually it was a musical cruise in the Mediterranean sea, stopping in each historical site around and giving a concert in the local archeological theater. Anyway 20 minutes after the beginning of the a strong windstorm came impromptu and in a second everything was flying around, musical scores, music stands, and also Maestro's hair and Anne Sophie's dress... Very hilarious situation... The concert was of course interrupted, but what an unforgettable memory... My best compliments to Anne Sophie Mutter! And to the interviewer.
As from ~ Carrier of the Heifetz-Milstein Violin Mentoring Legacy, US 🎻 Elisabeth Matesky / Chicago, 19.2.2022 ~ An ardent admirer of Anne Sophie Mutter's artistry, glorious sound enriched by a luscious vibrato & flexibility from 'con sordine' {& minus a mute} w/such limitless differing oscillations, plus musical intelligence fused w/love of Music, & rare interest in current living composers, I truly believe Anne Sophie Mutter has earned the premier Violinist Title over by now a 40 plus year non stop global concertising career few of our baby boomer generation can hold up to!! Meeting each other thru Sir Georg Solti in London, at his own suggestion, neither ASM nor myself seemed able to speak the other's native tongue thusly limiting the length of our initial acquaintance with a tiny bit of chat ~ Aware of her growing career & to global proportions everywhere on Earth, I was delighted to attend Ms Mutter's LvB Violin Recital here at Orchestra Hall on 22.01. 2020! I so wanted to hear her, Live, in LvB piano/violin sonatas & was truly awed by her 'other world' dynamics yet made invisible=a Coco Chanel Suit hand stitched finely to create a seamless appearance & likewise, in her 'new' interpretation of the known 'Kreutzer' No. 9 Sonata, havin the thought, 'even Milstein never did this!' And a 1st time in my life since private advanced Bowing studying with Milstein 3 & 1/2 years at his London Chester Square home! Going backstage w/a longtime 'cellist pal & adored colleague of 🎹 Lambert Orkis, I had the opportunity to shyly reintroduce myself and recalling Sir Georg's Intro in London, as we began speaking of the Beethoven Sonatas & I did offer her enormous compliments when a fine violin colleague here in Chicago, insisted telling Anne Sophie Mutter of my own playing which tho' flattering wholly embarrassed me yet we got chatting of Milstein & his hard to fathom rare longevity & extraordinary high standard to himself with ASM asking what I thought was his secret!? Talking a bit more yet then w/several people, I did suggest we continue and Ms Mutter agreed w/an 'Anytime' Hug plus accepting my gift of some yummy famed Peppermint flavored Chicago Frango Mints, & my gentle RX to go to her hotel & sleep! This 'accident' seeing a recent Interview & I think just prior to the pandemic, in either early January '20 or even late Dec., 2019, seems possibly strangely providential because one has been thinking about our continued chat about Mr. Milstein, my closest Iconic Violinist mentor & 24 year friend, who shared vast amounts of 'Milsteinianna' with me, his self-proclaimed, "Guinea Pig Pupil of Heifetz, who he {I} can now violinistically experiment with!' When going 'round to play Bach's Chaconne, we were both under same London Concert Artist Mgmt., yet the rare & unexpected opportunity to private study w/Milstein became a dream reality, such was my more musically maturing admiration of all things Milstein!! I am wholly convinced Anne Sophie Mutter is among the greatest of Violinists & is also highlighting the Art of 20th/21st Century Composers' in their writing violin works for her & drawing attention to 'loyalist's' of standard concert violin repertoire to some Marvel's of the newer Music which due to Anne Sophie Mutter will be written up by Musicologists for many decades to come ~ A true blue person & Mom who had to learn to swim upstream Rapids with 2 children upon losing her beloved young husband, she has experienced the Valley of Death Sorrows & the great Joy's also in her enchanting much talked about w/Awe Journey thus far on God's Good Earth ~ Both on FB, perhaps the link to my FB pg might bring a Hello fron ASM, Grand Human Person & Artist ~ facebook.com/elisabeth.anne.775?fref=nf Please accept my compliments to the musician Interviewer of Ms. Mutter! He is Great! Musically from Chicago, 🇺🇸🎻Elisabeth Matesky 19.2.22 A Brava to All 👏
@@LivingtheClassicalLife Thanks for your words. I still have the good taste of her interpretation. She is out of this world ! A sample that perfection, exists. Wish some day she perform at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in México, City.
Another thoughtful, thought provoking, educational and entertaining interview. Of the dozen episodes I've watched (so far) every one is excellent. Thank you so much, and thank you to your donors.
Peter and Zsolt, thanks for this interview (and for the others) as always. What Anne Sophie Mutter has to say is truly interesting! She mentioned three things that made me think of a young artist ... I took a bold step, and contacted you via website about the particular.
Absolutely mesmerizing interview and artist! It is SO hard to imagine that there are actually some that end up putting a thumbs down . . . I hope that music will eventually heal whatever it is that disturbs or hurts them.
Thanks for great interview with A.S. M. She is awesome! We would very much appreciate an interview with the great Victoria Mulova, one of the very best musicians of her generation.
amazing interview! I appreciate the depth and gentleness of the questions and well as her responses. Such a great conversion is like a piece of well composed music itself. Thank you for sharing such a soul-touching and life-enriching interview! Peace & Abundant Blessings.
this lady is brilliant 😇 under all p.o.v - simple and shiny - her style is rather unique - with her generosity, she somehow reminds me of Vladimir Ashekenazy - love the ambiance of this interview - she made me smile all the way - thank you very much.
A brilliant artist is made of much more than perfección , there is an entire human and intelectual life put into wherever they do Absolutely wonderful interview Thank you
What makes a great artist? What can be the purpose of music? And of a musician in human society? Inspiring answers from the sensational violinist Anne-Sophie Mutter. `Music is an essential part of being human`. `Silence is a part of music.` `My craft is to bring these dots on the black lines back to life.` `Nothing is as beautiful as memory.` `I need time to stay humble.` `I don`t want to repeat my mistakes, I rather make new mistakes.` `All in all the time…` It was a joy to listen!
A great interview with the wonderful Anne-Sophie Mutter. She just gets better and better! A suggestion about the "title" of this video: please consider renaming it so the title contains her name!! The video appeared several times recently when I opened TH-cam with the silly tag "Someone was sitting in the first row holding a mobile phone up right into my face." It wasn't until I took a second look at the thumbnail photo that I realized it was Anne-Sophie Mutter, and then I was eager to watch!!
way to go Mrs Mutter, you are still young and full of energy, I booked to see you for the 1st time in my life with my wife for our 27th annicersary in Roy thomson Hall ( Toronto) on feb 7 . see you 🥰🥰🥰
What an amazing interview! Compliments to everyone involved here! Rarely do we here people openly addressing the issues we (I'm not alone in this am I?) are thinking about so much of the time. Oh by the way, I was present in the audience at the concert with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra in late-September, 2019, where in the middle of the second movement of the Beethoven Violin Concerto Annie-Sophie Mutter finally had to confront an audience member in the front rows openly recording the concert. Mutter stopped the concert and verbally engaged the offender; the offender was escorted out, and Mutter re-cued the conductor to begin again from the beginning of the second movement. The audience was very sympathetic and supportive of Mutter's response here, and in fact, it was a highly successful concert, complete with encore. She touches on these issues at one point here.
I grew up in Germany those days with 4 sisters enviing that bright girl so beautiful, selfconfident and talented. We weren't given the Backup to become strong. I should let go of those feelings...Glad seeing her Here!
. . . Do that , Susanna ; let complete go of those feelings. I was blessed with the best mum or 'mutti' a boy could have who was from Nierstein-Am Rhein. My father was English - and that is where we all lived and 'grew'. He never held a single conversation with his three children - and only discouraged my elder brother and I after we had begun to be able to think for ourselves from about age 7,8 or thereabouts. I did not understand the negative impact those words and meanings have had until about 50 years later. Not all people are good enough to be parents in the correct meaning of the role - as simple as that . All be well .
ASM had very hard times, but doesn't talk about them very often: the relationship to her parents also was not easy. And surely not being a widow with 2 toddlers at 32 years of age. She is a warrior with a very strong discipline. If someone is often on stage, people tend to see only the 'golden glamour'. Believe me, every artist fights for what he/she practices. Every single day. It's not 'only' about standing on stage and shining brilliantly...they are all hard energy workers.
En estos nuestros días de desorden generalizado, escuchar esta entrevista es muy estimulante: preguntas precisas e interesantes, respuestas profundas y luminosas.
Her modesty is refreshing. In my generation people might refer to you as an artist, never yourself. There were charismatic performers - Rubenstein - for example who enjoyed public atttention. But he never would have thought of using music as a vehicle for fame.
A delight, and thank you. Must mention that there was quite a big problem with sound synchronicity, so that it was difficult to watch and listen simultaneously. Thought it might be my device at fault, so tried the next LTCL, and it was fine. Anyone else have this problem?
I appreciate the soft quiet questions and the lack of self-aggrandizement from the interviewer. First class interview, good camera work, and no commercials... Very good.

Despite
her many years of presence on the music scene, she is still very attractive and charismatic woman. Maybe more than ever...
More than ever. She is a goddess. Eternal. Forget about mentioning 'years, time and space'...this doesn't exist, esp. concerning musical realms.
May love bring new meaning to our culture and embrace of each other in music.
Thank you Anne M.
A great artist chatting with a magnificent, outstanding interviewer and musician Zsolt Bognar!!. Thank you.
Absolutely love her spirit❤️ and what a comfort to hear hear her speak so openly about the fact that you can’t find that sweet spot at every concert!! Thank you for another wonderful interview 🙏🏻
Thanks for watching, Kariné Poghosyan!
Mutter's Mozart Violin Concertos recording with Karajan was my first-ever exposure to classical music. I was 9 years old, and she was 15 I think :)
Too cute! One of the most memorable TH-cam comments I've read lately!
Nice memory...even with the storm😉
My God I love her even more now that I listen her talking. What a clever and enlightened human beeing!
As from ~ Carrier of the Heifetz-Milstein Violin Mentoring Legacy, US 🎻
Elisabeth Matesky / Chicago, 19.2.2022 ~
An ardent admirer of Anne Sophie Mutter's artistry, glorious sound enriched by a luscious vibrato & flexibility from 'con sordine' {& minus a mute} w/such limitless differing oscillations, plus musical intelligence fused w/love of Music, & rare interest in current living composers, I truly believe Anne Sophie Mutter has earned the premier Violinist Title over by now a 40 plus year non stop global concertising career few of our baby boomer generation can hold up to!! Going backstage w/a longtime 'cellist pal & adored colleague of 🎹
Lambert Orkis, I had the opportunity to shyly reintroduce myself and recalling Sir Georg's Intro in London, as we began speaking of the Beethoven Sonatas & I did offer her enormous compliments when a fine violin colleague here in Chicago, insisted telling Anne Sophie Mutter of my own playing which tho' flattering wholly embarrassed me yet we got chatting of Milstein & his hard to fathom rare longevity & extraordinary high standard to himself with ASM asking what I thought was his secret!?
I am wholly convinced Anne Sophie Mutter is among the greatest of Violinists & is also highlighting the Art of 20th/21st Century Composers' in their writing violin works for her & drawing attention to 'loyalist's' of standard concert violin repertoire to some Marvel's of the newer Music which due to Anne Sophie Mutter will be written up by Musicologists for many decades to come ~ A true blue person & Mom who had to learn to swim upstream Rapids with 2 children upon losing her beloved young husband,
she has experienced the Valley of Death Sorrows & the great Joy's also in her enchanting much talked about w/Awe Journey thus far on God's Good Earth ~ Both on FB, perhaps the link to my FB pg might bring a Hello fron ASM, Grand
Human Person & Artist ~

What a great interview!
I love Anne Sophie, this show, the camera work and Zsolt.
I really enjoyed this interview.
Good work, Eric Laplante!
I saw Miss Mutter last May/2019 at the Berliner Philarmonie playing ( and conducting the orchestra ) Mozart concerts. Simply amazing !
Thank you so much, and thank you to your donors.
who would dislike this thoughtful, intelligent interview?
Not us! Thanks for watching, Sue Davis!
Absolutely love the series. Clicked on this as soon as I saw it! Anne-Sophie is such an incredible guest, plenty of gems in this upload :)
Wow thank you, what a great conversation
Peter and Zsolt, thanks for this interview (and for the others) as always. What Anne Sophie Mutter has to say is truly interesting!
She mentioned three things that made me think of a young artist ... I took a bold step, and contacted you via website about the particular.
Thank You Anne Sophie for standing strong for such wonderful artwork.
Very inspiring interview.
Thanks for watching, Diana Davidsson!
Wonderful conversation. Thank you.
...and for sure: Happy Birthday!🎉
Absolutely mesmerizing interview and artist! It is SO hard to imagine that there are actually some that end up putting a thumbs down . . . I hope that music will eventually heal whatever it is that disturbs or hurts them.
It's so valuable to hear her impression about Karajan. Biggest thanks.
Thanks for great interview with A.S. M. She is awesome! We would very much appreciate an interview with the great Victoria Mulova, one of the very best musicians of her generation.
The break has come in 2020 but it's too strange to work as a break really. A most enjoyable interview . A proper conversation . Thankyou to both
Thanks for watching, Jennifer Dyster!
A wonderful violinist and person, it was delightful to listen to her in this interview which touched great points and prospectives. Blessings, MaxT
The life of such a dedicated artist is a hope for everyone with an open mind. Maybe there is purpose...))) Thank you for the enjoyable interview.
Thanks for watching, Roland Huettmann!
Superb interview, many profound insights
amazing interview! I appreciate the depth and gentleness of the questions and well as her responses. Such a great conversion is like a piece of well composed music itself. Thank you for sharing such a soul-touching and life-enriching interview! Peace & Abundant Blessings.

Thanks! That´s what i wanted lol
Wow! She is such a great spokesperson. I never heard her speak before.
I loved listening to her speak and giving us that beautiful smile. The questioning is just worthless fluff for me.
Franco Gulli - so beautiful that ASM mentions this great artist and teacher.
Terrific discussion here.
such a beautiful interview and authenticity in the conversation
/i am delighted and inspired
This is the way conversation should be had....
Wonderful interview. One of the best in this valuable series. Thank you!
Fantastic interview
Ms. Mutter immediately compelled my interests! What a deep, impassioned person.
Great musicians think of their music as highly personal, not making music to please others! I love listening to A-S Mutter speak.
this lady is brilliant 😇 under all p.o.v - simple and shiny - her style is rather unique - with her generosity, she somehow reminds me of Vladimir Ashekenazy - love the ambiance of this interview - she made me smile all the way - thank you very much.
Thanks for watching, Sultanetta!
Fantastic interview. Thank you so much!
This channel is a treasure. Congratulations!!
A brilliant artist is made of much more than perfección , there is an entire human and intelectual life put into wherever they do
Absolutely wonderful interview
Thank you
Classical music is not my forte, but I loved the interview. Thanks for sharing it with us.
Besides being an outstanding Musician, such an intelligent, wise and humane Woman. A thoroughly pleasurable interview.
I’m not a classical music devotee, but still this is one of my favorite interviews.
“”Federer .....prepares like Heifetz’’ !!!!!! Amazing she is....
AMAZING, amazing interview. I have chills!!
Amazing interview!! Thank you!
She is quite beautiful in her appearance and her interpretation..
what an incredible conversation
A great interview with the wonderful Anne-Sophie Mutter. She just gets better and better! A suggestion about the "title" of this video: please consider renaming it so the title contains her name!! The video appeared several times recently when I opened TH-cam with the silly tag "Someone was sitting in the first row holding a mobile phone up right into my face." It wasn't until I took a second look at the thumbnail photo that I realized it was Anne-Sophie Mutter, and then I was eager to watch!!
Anne-Sophie Mutter Forever~❤️🎻🎻🎻
*OH MY GOD I DIED WHEN SHE MENTIONED FEDERER*
My favourite musician talking about my favourite sportsman ☺️😻
What a wonderful interview
She is such an Amazing Musician! Love her!
i Just found this video. Such and insightful questions and answers interview!
Great lady
Very meaningful series. Thanks.
Anne is a highly intelligent woman with a heart of love.
What a humannn, we love you anne 💖💖💖💖💖
way to go Mrs Mutter, you are still young and full of energy, I booked to see you for the 1st time in my life with my wife for our 27th annicersary in Roy thomson Hall ( Toronto) on feb 7 . see you 🥰🥰🥰
That concert with Frau Mutter ❤ would have been about a year ago. How did it go?
Sublime!
Thanks for watching, Edward Ruane!
Gracias Ann-Sophie por tu extraordinaria calidad profesional y humana
BRAVO !
I grew up in Germany those days with 4 sisters enviing that bright girl so beautiful, selfconfident and talented. We weren't given the Backup to become strong. I should let go of those feelings...Glad seeing her Here!
. . . Do that , Susanna ; let complete go
of those feelings. I was blessed with the best mum or 'mutti' a boy could have who was from Nierstein-Am Rhein. My father was English - and that is where we
all lived and 'grew'. He never held a single conversation with his three children - and
only discouraged my elder brother and I after we had begun to be able to think for ourselves from about age 7,8 or thereabouts.
Seems fine to me
Not me. I rewatched the first 2 minutes and lip sync seems good.
It's perfectly well synchronised for me.
She's really brilliant
As Nietzche said, Without music life would be a mistake. That is the importance of music.
I had never thought of her as having such a lively sense of humour.
