Good to see you’re still making content. This series is just what I needed. My daughter was just gifted an ‘80. Been sitting since the 90’s so don’t know what to expect. Should be fun.
The Torino I bought had the same carb issue with all the varnish, corrosion and it was so bad that it was only idling out of one side of the carburetor. The previous owner didn't run a fuel filter plus the tank fuel broke apart allowing all the rust and junk into the fuel system. When you pulled the carburetor apart I got a flashback! Once it was gone over it ran so much better.
Good for you. Glad you are in a beautiful old machine. Long may she run! I love C3s!!! The bodies are iconic, unmistakable, and high performance solid . Weather you restomod, or go old school you can build an awesome classic car to drive HARD now. Will you get you money back ? NO Will you get your money worth YES !!! My 75 L82 has been gutted and now has a OLD school LT1 Block (roller camed) Twin Hollies... with Borling 3.5 in straight pipes, and a 5 speed manual Transmission = 480 very reliable horsepower, New modern suspension and brakes, that rival any new car. It is fun as can be! She is a smiler, T topped, beautiful sleeper. lol The sound of my v8 kicking over is like hearing Thor's hammer. Here's to Bowling Green Kentucky and a bygone American Era! Enjoy your ride , they are special!
The brake pads were pulled off the car 3 days before the car was picked up because they were dragging and it was next to impossible to push the car by hand so I could get it out of the garage and on the trailer to make the trip to Ben's.
this video has convinced me to get my holley rebuilt, my car was sitting since the 90's and the carb looks terrible outside, i cant imagine what its like inside
As a kid 25 years ago after fighting with the calipers (rebuilding by hand) I was surprised how much rebuilt calipers from my local auto store cost. I want to say about 15 bucks each; back when the dollar had more value:) Recently changed pads out to ceramic. it lowers brake dust. As for the carburetor, once I tasted TBI, carb became a relic sitting in my parts bin.
Thanks for taking time out to make an updated video. Great job on the vet. 3 days ago I said a fellow TH-camr information on your Channel. He was restoring an Oldsmobile like you had and was astonished it had air conditioning. Said it was super rare and knew of no other... Surprise!...
I'm sorry I miss understood classic ride Society that Corvette looks just like the one we sold and we traded it $3,000 and a Ford Fairlane for it but I still like your channel it does much better than mine I'm just an old recovering addict now I've been clean for 4 years and my new addiction is classic cars flipping them painting them

Ben, The volume keeps getting lower and lower in your videos.....and I have my volume jacked up at 100%....Can barely hear you... Something to check out... Strange... Tony K.
@@gertraba4484 Ahh, but you can't assume the calipers on this car are not already sleeved. I purchased my 1973 corvette in 2016. It had worn out caliper hoses that I replaced but while I had things apart I inspected the calipers and they were all stainless.
Good to know it takes a minute for the oil to get up to the rockers. I'll wait a few minutes before driving my Vette now.

Great video man! Love seeing you bring these back to life!
call him the vette WHISPERER
Your videos are great and I love them! However, I really wish you would show more of the "how to" process.
We need more "how to" videos for the C3's.

Huge respect for doing the job RIGHT and no cutting corners. As I always say my dream car!
Nice job so far. The open valve covers is something I did in the late 70's to work on Chevy's. It was fun to see the idea used again.
No pcv valve needed....be cool to put plexiglass on them!!!
Need that brake video in my life. I plan on all four new calipers this winter on my ‘76.
Car sounds great! Amazing what a little carb rebuild will do.
@TheCorvetteBen:
Howdy. *SerpentZA* sent me here! *_:D_*
BEN GREAT WORK ON THE 76 VETTE. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE NEXT UPDATE VIDEO. TAKE CARE.
this video has convinced me to get my holley rebuilt, my car was sitting since the 90's and the carb looks terrible outside, i cant imagine what its like inside
Man keep the videos coming, you do a great job, thanks for the tips.👍👍👍

Man ive been slowly restoring my 76, dude its awsome having the ability to fine tune everthing body wise wth shims... but its such a pain sometimes

I love watching your videos they are so informational for a young teen like me thank you for posting videos and im glad to have the first like
Keep learning! This hobby needs younger folks interested in carbs, etc!
Steve Varholy yes sir
@TheCorvetteBen
Serpentza Sent me, watched a few of your videos. Enjoyed them so I hit that sub :D
Cool man. I’m putting in a efi gas tank and Dakota digital gauges in my 70 impala convertible. Getting ready for a ls3 swap. Cheers
Beautiful vette! Please dont wait so long to upload
Good job, I always enjoy your content, seeing all the smaller stuff dealt with to make a vehicle usable.
Well done . . . Rog
You're a magician Ben. Thanks for the videos bud.
Nice work on a classic Vette!
Ran nicely!
Thanks Ben!!
Thank you for the video!
Hey Ya'll Winston sent me, Serpentza...oh yeah!
Another prime example for EFI from FiTech...and you have electronic ignition so your to go...no more gas sludge...nice carb. rebuild thou.
Like your work ethic and attention to detail. Don’t see that too often with people your age. Keep up the great work. How is your son doing?
Man that yellow Vette is beautiful but I'll spy Z28 behind it what's up on that is that an upcoming video that would be awesome

Hello very nice car runs.
Great video Love them old sharks✌🏽
I'd love a 'vette, now all I need is a lottery win!!!
sounds great but what about that 80 or 81 z28 in the background. that car has me interested
Ben the Corvette Whisperer
would have liked to see some of the carb kit install
Well where did the pads go. I believe someone took them out put them another car. That's crazy thanks for sharing.
Well you believe wrong, the brake pads were pulled off the car 3 days before the car was picked up because they were dragging and it was next to impossible to push the car by hand so I could get it out of the garage and on the trailer to make the trip to Ben's.
Hey Ben, I love your channel, any chance you can make a video on the white z28 in the background. Thanks!
rebuilding the carb should be automatic step one on something thats sat sense 2004 :/ - love the vids!
did i spy with my little eye a 78-81 Camaro?? new video on that coming?
😎
Great job. Hey I'm restoring a 68 vette. What kind of remote cooling fan would you put on or should I stay stock?
Always loved most Corvette body styles, it’s shame they were so underpowered in the 70’s and 80’s
GREAT, I love the Z28. Is that another project?
SerpentZA sent me
die Bursche ist guuut :)))
You need to make a playlist of a how to guide
A Quadra-jet would still be running fine.
Gas turns into varnish regardless of carb type
I’m curious if you used Marvel Mystery oil or not? And why or why not?
I personally like Carter AFB carbs.
@@dukeman7595 on a 1967 Pontiac Grand Prix 400 c.i.
how about a thermo bog?
Since you have the "open" valve covers, how about a video of setting the lash.
Agreed; back it out til it clacks then one full turn in (1/4 turn at a time) slowly.
Ben, The volume keeps getting lower and lower in your videos.....and I have my volume jacked up at 100%....Can barely hear you... Something to check out... Strange... Tony K.
Usually volume issues are on the users end. No problems here
Why would someone remove the break pads like that?
First! Love your channel Ben!
Where did the brake pads go??? I cant imagine someone forgetting to put pads on it.
i can...
Third!
No brake pads ? well at least the disks wont be seized on
DC Allan was thinking the thing.
Who goes through the effort of taking off brake pads and then reinstalling the callipers? Seems like a ballache for nothing
You can remove the pads out the top without removing the caliper BUT it's a pain to get them back in
Wtf where did the brake pads go??
serpentza
send us over
Call it sponge bob.
@4:38 RIP headphone users
You should have seen that coming
Ha Ha, why would someone rob/salvage the break pads out of a car?
Some cars just chew through their brakes.
An ultrasonic cleaner is what you need
Who in the world would remove pads from a car in storage?
The rubber fuel line & plastic filter look like a fire hazard to me, should be a solid line
See part 1
Sorry, I had watched it and forgot duh
Must be AIR brakes LOL !!
where the elcamino
Long gone
rebuild the calipers yourself - its easy and cheaper
To each Thier own
C3 vette calib-ers rust in the box on the shelf and renovators not to bleed well, best to get stainless sleeved one and all new lines.//hardware

@@rpetronk a major score on your part, even though these design calipers are 50 yrs old it wood pay to upgrade to a more modern design
ugggggggh! Vette brakes C3...............................HORRIBLE !
