Heads up, this is a very lazy edit. Not a lot cut out. The chapters were more trouble than the edits. Enjoy. Also, unexpectedly, no copyright claims at all. This will probably change but I uploaded it last night and it's been sitting unlisted on youtube for at least 10 hours without any claims.
No worries! We appreciate you always cutting out the dead time in your usual videos! It can take a lot of time so thank you for doing it as much as you do
After seeing GTFO have a trailer for like the third year in a row with still no gameplay, im going to have a hot take: Trailers that don’t include gameplay, should just be banned from the show. If a game has gameplay, at least the game is somewhat finished. But these game trailers that have no gameplay are eating into time that should really be spent commemorating the developers, publishers, and performers in the games industry. That fact that Geoff rapid fire lists like 5 awards at a time, including pretty large categories like action and independent games is not paying the studio the respect they deserve. Edit: finally finished and I completely agree with Joe lmao. He stole my comment
This show is a conveyer of advertisements, no one cares about games there, they only care about business part of all this. You better to not expect anything from them lol
@@skilletsmasher99 yeah realized that earlier today. I still think the comment stands though. It’s especially weird that an already released game wouldn’t show gameplay either???
Thank you so much! The twitch app is awful and this stream happened outside of my time zone, so I was looking forward to catching up as soon as anyone was able to reupload it on TH-cam ❤
Fun fact (might be well known, but if not I hope it helps you or someone else): If you cast twitch to a smart TV or similar device that you can cast to, you get no ads and can still interact with chat from your device. I have a galaxy s9, so...kind of an old phone, but needless to say it's how I watch twitch live without that annoyance. There are a couple things that can be annoying, like having to disconnect/reconnect if the cast stream starts getting desynced audio wise, but its worth it imo when you wanna catch a vod early or catch someone live every once in awhile.
Does anyone know if there's a channel that uploads Joe's streams with chat using the ChatReplay browser extension? I'd also rather not use Twitch itself.
Maaan, i know that TGAs are just an excuse for JGeoff to profit on ads and invite celebrities and game devs he likes, but if you will say that the show is to celebrate the game industry you could at least let the people receiving the awards to, you know, celebrate. I was kinda bummed how rushed the awarding was. =/
I really appreciate you going out of your way to split the show into chapters. Unrelated but this was also the first time I got to tune in to dragon's den live.
As I continue to watch,I keep giggling at how on point the title of this video is. Kudos. "Is Fortnight just a launcher within a launcher at this point?" I honestly was thinking the saaaame as I loaded into the Lego version.
Now that E3 is dead, this is the only gaming event that isn't owned by some company, so this is the only place that has a sizable community to advertise to. And now that's all it is.
yeah, but that got nearly a quarter of the live watch hours.(of which many people watched streamers watch it, vastly reducing the total hours as well as the vod watch throughs, comme ça) the VGAs will also have far more videos made about it.
Is that literally not the point? They obviously don't really make a huge deal about the awards themselves. Most people watch just to see upcoming games, that's just how it is. You dont have to be so cynical about it, it could be worse
@vitaminwater9662 unlike you, some people care about having an event that encourages a discussion on the industry. From the quality of the product, the level of storytelling, an acknowledgment of the employees' effort, and how much of a cultural impact the game had on the masses. There wasn't much of an opportunity for that this year. A lot of people don't really care about game anouncments, I have only been excited for exactly 3 games in my life: Halo 2 Remaster, Deltarune, and Elden Ring. People like me just see the anouncments as schlock. So we would prefer if it was kept to the EXPO's, and that companies wouldn't abandon these expo's to start their own infinitely less important events.
If you jump to the Hellblade 2 timestamp, J.A. says, "What if 4 or 5 people go over time, and at the end, a winner wants to make a speech and gets pushed off." IMAGINE HOW MUCH THAT WOULD SUCK, RIGHT?
Late to the party here, but regarding the Alan Wake 2 song, Herald of Darkness...there are two Alan Wake actors. There is the body actor, who appears in game (even as far back as the music video for "War", for the original Alan Wake). He's lip-synced the whole time. And then there is Alan's voice actor, whose voice is dubbed in whenever the body actor appears in-game(s). So it was a nice touch to have both of his actors in the video. The one singing with Mr. Door is the voice actor, and the one on stage lip-syncing is the body actor.
I'm 100% expecting Joe to nitpick it to death, he likes what he likes and takes joy in being a contrarian. That being said, if he gives it a fair shot I'm expecting him to go "crazy good game, had some jank, not a 10/10, would easily recommend" or something like that.
For sure he will nitpick everything but I think if he gives it some time he'll love it, I hope. But for me it was my second playthrough that I truly fell in love and realized how much variation there is, it's crazy. @@erickschusterdeoliveira2662
I don’t watch his streams, is he not a fan of CRPGs? It would be real shame if he wasn’t because I was really looking forward to him making a video about BG3 in 9 years
My feedback: the subtitles should have been smaller, maybe getting rid of the top third of the window? Less horizontal size for sure, the chat rarely filled the space. As it is now, it takes almost 1/6 of the screen, which is a lot for a showcase, as it's all about watching trailers. Older edits like in the Summer Game Fest 2023 had a better chat experience because it didn't cover nearly as much of the screen.
Joe's take on invincible is truly peak Joe. "I watched one scene out of context in a story I know nothing about and formed my entire opinion based on that"
I feel like there's always a lot of confusion about how procedural generation can be applied. When you start a save in No Man's Sky's, you are placed into the same Universe as everyone else, which has been entirely procedurally generated. The thing is, the entire universe has been generated from a single seed. This application of procedural generation means they can make a ton of randomized planets (putting aside the fact that the amount of unique planets is far less than the number of planets generated), but those planets are always the same for everyone. It is a way to create more content than is humanely possible to handcraft while still allowing it to be a fixed, essentially already determined collection of worlds. Light No Fire will presumably have a single Earth everyone explores that is procedurally generated in that nothing is going to be hand placed. Everything in the world not modified or introduced by a player is placed by the procedural algorithm. However, because everyone's game uses the same seed to do that generation, everyone sees the same things in the same places.
This was my first year watching the game awards. I don't get how anyone can watch this, they cant even be bothered to name the nominees for most awards because it would cut into add ti- I mean trailer time. Absolute joke.
I can give them credit for standing by No Man's Sky all these years and actually fixing the game while adding more, but god I can't lie when I say I kinda want this new one to fail, just so this dude can learn not to over-hype and over-promise his games.
@@ketrubI mean, the basic premise is just "yeah we put all the NMS biomes in a single planet that is actually to scale with Earth" so it's not that insane of a hook, but it really comes down to how they're gonna present it

This was a great TGA for me. FF7r, Monster Hunter, FF16 dlc looks cool, persona 3 remake lookin great, and the No Mans Sky stuff was really cool. Looking forward to their new game and hoping they've learned from NMS.
Bruh shows how little people care about awards -- you only mentioned trailers. Honestly, fair, since the only poit of awards for consumers is to help with choice of a game to play, but kind of stupid that awards show gets overblown by trailers -- should be just two separate shows in the first place imo

i think everyone agree that the winners deserved more time to speak, but tbh those "ads" are like half of the reason why people watch TGA. Also a lot of people aren't terminally online and aren't up to date with every single release so even stuff like "ehy, remember that this game exist" can be useful for them. IMHO is overly negative at the end.
