    $5 per video clip.. so if I process 50 clips thats $250.. a little pricey i'd say for a small youtube content creator. (I hope they work on a flat rate or discounted for youtube content creators) For commercial the price is ok but not for youtube content creators with tight budgets...

    The main problem I've encountered is that Gling doesn't transcribe video material very quickly, and you have to wait sometimes 5 minutes or more. As a solution, I suggest implementing the ability to run two Gling applications simultaneously (in macOS it is possible to run multiple copies of applications, but not all applications support this)) ), so that in one copy you can do rough editing of the video, while in the second copy you transcribe other material.

  • @davetriesthis
    @davetriesthis ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The price per download bugged me at first but then I thought about it and I prefer this way. If you pay a subscription the cost of that usually is higher than the amount of actual use you get. If you spend $20 a month and export 1 video that's $20 but the thought is if you export 10 videos you're saving money.
    But you're still going to pay for times when you're not using the service. Each month you pay even if you're off on vacation.
    At least this way I know each project what it's going to cost and if it can save more than $5 in person hours a job then this is worth it.
    If you charge for example $75 an hour to edit and an edit will take an hour, if this saves you 3 mins it's broken even. (Because a minute is $1.25).
    If this saves 10 mins on that edit that's $12.50 saved for $5.
    This way you can decide each project if the $5 is worth it.

    • @RafaelLudwig
      @RafaelLudwig  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, luckily it's not a locked in model, they haven't figured out the billing yet and are open to exploring a better solution. Also it's not $5 per video, it's per project so you could have 10 clips and it's process them as one.

      As far as I know the app uses Google Transcription API, so yes it send the audio only to get transcribed. And reading the google terms - the ownership stays solely with the original content creator.
      "Does Google claim ownership of the content I send in the request to the Speech-to-Text API?
      Google does not claim any ownership in any of the content (including the audio data and returned transcript) that you transmit to the Speech-to-Text API."

    Does this AI look through the folders of clips in the footage pool and automatically make a multitrack timeline from it all? I shoot weddings and am looking for a faster way to catch up with my backlog. I use Sony Vegas Pro 18 but am willing to change platforms. Typically, I use three video cameras (all Sony A7IV and A7C) which have Rode Wireless Go radio mics attached to all of them. I use gimbals for the preps, drinks reception, bride & groom walkabout shots. I use three cameras to film the whole ceremony, speeches and dances. I use drones for the venue footage opener and endings. I also use the music used on the day under license for offline copies to the customer. It takes me about 5-6 hours to edit a 1hr documentary movie with all the 'on the move' parts of the day cut in time to music, and the full ceremony, speeches and dances muilticam. When I do the gimbal parts of the day, I like to cut the clips for being in time with the music, mostly in 50% slow motion and to make sure that the cut is a clean single direction gimbal movement (I tend to slowly move and rotate the camera around the subject in a circular parallax kind of way). Will there be something that can learn my style and do all this for me? All the preps and other parts of teh day that are not the Ceremony and Speeches are not for recording the audio of what people are talking about, they're for music to go over the top and cut to the beat.

    That’s amazing Rafael. Thanks for sharing! The only thing that I am not a fan of is the multicam workflow. Do you know if there’s a way to have the multicam xml export show up as a FCP project with the files completely separated and not as multicams? For tutorial videos multicams make harder to do certain things (especially for videos with multichannel audio).

    • @RafaelLudwig
      @RafaelLudwig  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did this video that way, exported the A-Roll and sync'd up the screen capture and it worked really well. What would say makes it harder. Would love to know the hiccup you are facing. I am talking with the developer so I could pose the question to him.
      Thanks for watching and the comment Dom!

    • @DomSigalas
      @DomSigalas ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RafaelLudwig yes I’m sure it worked well. here’s the hiccup: when doing tutorials sometimes you have multiple sound sources even in the screen capture file. So I have a track for music and a track for audio plus maybe additional channels of audio.
      The multicam workflow in FCP is really clunky when it comes to audio editing. You need to jump through hoops to do all the processing you want- plus you have all the messy scratch audio from the cameras to deal with. Also, creating PIPs is harder when editing in the multicam workflow- it’s way faster if you create compound clips.
      Not saying that the multicam export is not useful, on the contrary. But I would prefer to have the option to have a clean simple timeline with all video files cut rather than being restricted into the multicam way of working.
      Hope it makes sense. If the app can do all these things, I am sure this could be possible. :)

    • @RafaelLudwig
      @RafaelLudwig  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@DomSigalas This sounds exactly the workflow I use, I have multichannel audio, I do PIP for my tutorials. Maybe I am used to jumping through the Final Cut hoops to get it to work. I will ask if there is way to go to compound clips directly. But I treat the Multicam as a compound clip.

    • @DomSigalas
      @DomSigalas ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RafaelLudwig interesting! Does your audio live inside the multicam editor then or do you somehow get it into the timeline?
      What I do when I start a video is:
      1. Detach and delete the camera scratch audio after syncing
      2. Create compound clips for all the shots (duplicating some shots to create PIP with the screen capture)
      3. I might have 4-5 configs like this and it’s very neat in FCP.
      4. Audio is free to process to get a great sounding voiceover and full control of my output peaks.
      Quite honestly, this would be a non-issue if FCP had better audio management like Resolve. 😀

      More info needed! What is the name of that feature?

    • @LarsonBaylor
      @LarsonBaylor ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's not exactly the same but very similar - the new feature transcribes the audio and creates a sort of text document editor to which you can edit your video as if you were editing the script in a text document - so it transcribes the video and you can see all the mistakes in the text window and simply highlight them and delete them and the corresponding edit will happen in the timeline - it also has these: [...] symbols to identify gaps and silences which you can also select and delete. So in short you can quickly create a rough edit by effectively editing the transcribed script that PP creates. Motion Array and PiXimperfect both have great videos on this feature - like I said, it's not exactly the same, but extremely similar... sadly I'm not a fan of PP & prefer FCPX, it's a shame they don't have something similar!!

      @@BlayneOliver It has a lot of features, and it’s not all that good at any of them. The edge that it had: the audio transcription, is lost now that it’s pretty commonplace in video editing programs nowadays. While the AI dubbing is kinda cool, it doesn’t sample the source footage and requires you to do it separately which doesn’t make for a clean redub if you’re not recording at your computer under the exact same conditions.
      Editing out bad outtakes isn’t something that existing video editing software can do, at least not right now, so that to me justifies paying for something like Gling.
