2021 and this Product Review/ "How to..." remains to be very, very worthwhile. Your succinct fashion of conveying each step throughout the process and "Radio Announcer voice quality" is exceptional. The critical comment relating that 072 minimum curves are required after installing the scale pilot may have stated at around 5 minutes 40 seconds-- otherwise unaware hobbyists that lack broad curves on their Layout will be crushed. I suppose most viewers would probably watch the entire presentation before making the modification. Let's hope so!
I was able to see this version at the Illinois railway museum, because it has almost the same paint scheme and is the same locomotive! The one I am talking about is the Nebraska Zephyr.
Awsome video and I think the crew talks are the highlight of the video for me and also all your engines are always clean, scratch free, and spotless keep up the good work 😃
Excellent review Eric. The tutorial on replacing the pilot was very useful and informative. Also I have to agree that Atlas makes the most gorgeously detailed diesels on the O-Scale market. Hope you enjoy them.
30:58- Great scenery around the maintenance shop, just before the train comes by the switches. Are there any matching coaches for these engines on the way?
Now I need money to buy some of these in N gauge. I love the detail and size of O gauge trains but I simply don't have space and as a 17 year old I don't have too much money either. I really love seeing the locomotives run, it be really cool if you did some new running videos from the different camera angles and perspectives you've been using in your reviews lately, watching trains on a busy layout is always fun
Believe it or not, this is the only Atlas F3's review on youtube.Thank you, Eric! Also, the CB&Q always run these units in ABA consists, so you may wanna snag another A unit down the road ;)
The new run of the O Scale F-3's just arrived at Atlas and they are shipping out to your favorite O Scale dealers: Western Depot, Petersen Supply, The Public Delivery Track, CT McCormick,Nicholas Smith, Trainland/Trainworld, Mr. Muffins Trains, Caboose Stop Hobbies, MB Klein.
Beautiful engine and review Eric - many thanks. Have Atlas given you an advertising contract yet? They should - your video is certainly on the mark! You're right about the crew sounds - excellent for the younger potential O gauge modellers. However I for one don't need any excuse for enjoying the crew sounds. I'm happy to sit and listen to the the yard sounds on my old MTH New Haven RS3 (bet I'm not the only one). I should explain I'm a UK railroader with only a very small amount of O gauge Lionel, MTH or Atlas equipment (older Lionel models is quite difficult to run in the UK due to incompatibility with UK 50Hz power supply frequency) Also O gauge MTH and Lionel is as rare as rocking horse poo here in the UK and in fact I have more Atlas O scale 2 rail as it is (slightly) easier to get hold of. I have a plan to get some 3 rail o gauge on an outdoors track and luckily our only UK supplier is doing Gargraves stainless steel track (essential as we're generally a wet, rather than hot, climate over here). Wish me luck! Love your videos and layout which makes up for the lack of stuff over here. Keep up the good work Glyn (Southampton, UK)
My grandpa has the MTH version of these. His are the old style though from before any command control came out. Actually his MTH ABA Burlington was the very first MTH to have sound in it.
Another great review. The scale couplers are much nicer then the O scale. I never seen the inside of O engine since I do HO. I wish the ladders could be removed of HO but they are glued and every time you would on the loco they break which is a pain. Scott
@Eric's Trains - Now that is a great-looking Diesel Locomotive! I believe the price is reasonable considering how realistic it looks compared to others in that same class which may even cost more.
Beautiful looking engine Eric! Is kind of cool seen this engine on your video today, because I just got 1 of like it for my birthday today! in O scale ( I model HO ) but I love it. Great review. RT
This is a great video. I was wondering I see the train in the background. Would you be able to do a video on that? It looks interesting and I am viewing what appears to be the flatbed trains?
Very nice engines Eric, they look fantastic. I like that you can buy the B unit with full sound, with the Legacy F units the B units have motors and smoke but no sound. Also the scale pilot is neat. I have some Legacy F7s (AA set), and was pleased with the distance between the two but it's not quiet as flush as those Atlas engines are.
Hey I love your videos and I am a volunteer for the little river railroad it will be nice for you and a family member in a cab ride keep this videos !!!!
Cool Review I got a Santa Fe Re-Issue F3 from 1991. It has the railsounds including diesel roar but no crew talk [i think the articulated engines from the 90s were the first] but the minimum curve for my Santa Fe F3 is 0-42 well I say that because 0-36 for it may be pushing it.
The array of passenger cars on these demonstrations makes the train look like a modern day excursion, which is realistic depending on the era you want to model. If these engines run half as well as the Atlas EL switcher on my layout, I know they're good. I've had it 10 years with never a bit of problems. It'll pull the plastic off your walls.
Hey Eric what a nice looking loco great work on the review really do enjoy watching your layout work and the continue fleet growth how many locos would you have in your collection and if you can pick only 5 of your best witch ones would they be. Have been to the website and enjoy the web cams I'm a huge steam train fan maybe a steam only run once again great work. Best Regards Stuart John
+Steven Michael from what I've on read on the ogr forum they are most of the time, but the couplers on MTH rolling stock and engines are the most notorious for not being entirely compatible.
Good question. I would think that it would NOT void the warranty, since the procedure for changing the pilot is documented in the instructions that come with the engine. But I don't know for sure.
Great review Eric! Those are great engines, and the spacing is amazing! I like the new camera angles too. When did you get the MTA passenger car and do you have a MTA engine to pull it? Thanks, Max
I am able to run the 2 rail version of this engine on 27" radius curves with the fixed pilot. I would be surprised if you could not run it on O-54 with the 3 rail model.
Without a close up of the new pilot and just going on what I've seen it seems to me it would be easier to remove enough of the plastic coupler pocket to do the install. The coupler is of no use so why permanently destroy the original mounting bracket. Just saying.
+ericstrains what is a mars light? Sorry for all my comments on this video I just keep thinking about stuff. I would appreciate if you answered! Thanks, Noah
Awesome engines Eric! Love the way that Atlas pays attention to road name specific details. Thanks for sharing!

Mth-historic trains
Lionel- realistic feature
Altas- detail
weaver-good at steam engines
in my opinion.
RIP Weaver :(

Seen that one many times, it's my favorite locomotive.

That's great that Atlas includes the fixed pilot for the consumer to swap themselves. Saves me a ton of time!
Kids aren’t the only ones who like crew talk- my 50 year old mother loves it!
Yep!
30:58- Great scenery around the maintenance shop, just before the train comes by the switches. Are there any matching coaches for these engines on the way?
railroadguy100 Atlas has made a whole series of California Zephyr cars.
He mentioned that he had the one matching car for it, so probably

Actually Classic Toy Trains also has a review on the Atlas F3 (posted on youtube), just a brief one though.
I didn't read their paper article, but I wouldn't call their TH-cam video a review. It was more like a quick view.
santiagop23
It was very brief compared to an in depth review, but they called it a review anyways.
santiagop23 Yeah, I would like to get another A unit for sure.
Great video review. IMHO Atlas's products are really nice and don't always get the credit they deserve.
This is so Beautiful, I love it so much.
Greear video! LOVED THE 1070S rAINBOW TRAIN, when Am track took over!

Always enjoyable videos Eric. Thank You !!!
Stokjockey Thank you for watching!

I really like the mix of passenger equipment, makes it look like A charter of private cars or the early days of Amtrak
Can you review the SP cad forward from MTH
Beautiful looking engine Eric! Is kind of cool seen this engine on your video today, because I just got 1 of like it for my birthday today! in O scale ( I model HO ) but I love it. Great review. RT
I model N and I'd love to get some of these.. Maybe if I ever have room for a nice big O layout
Great choice of passenger cars to pull behind it mth blue goose cars Hiawatha union pacific and more great reaview Eric
I love O scale with scale coupler and fixed pilot! Very realistic!

love the MARs light
those sound effects are epic!!
Nice review, Eric. Well done, as always.
Nice Eric like the pass cars mixed

Stuart John Thanks!
looks amazing im gonna have to buy one... Eric leaves the My Trains Sticks in pocket
I guess the mixture of passenger cars is a representation of early Amtrak. Still I love this model.Atlas really outdid theirselves again!
I really like the mix of passenger cars 😊
Eric when are you going to do a review on the new vision line big boy?
Still waitin' on that Nebraska Zephyr, Lionel! And toss in an Electroliner while you're at it!
Is the third car a Long Island Railroad car?
Do they have this in ho scale
Man Eric this is a great looking Set, But I Like my Lionel Burlington F-3 A-B-A Better
Eric, do you have any 3rd rail models? By the way, really nice F3 A-B consist.
Wait eric way does it say TMCC and legacy when it's a atlas locomotive?
Did anyone see the cab light turn on?
Hey Eric
By chance what type of screw set r u using? They look magnetic.
Why is the B unit putting up less smoke?
The angle is weird. It may be that
That scale coupler looks like a regular kadee coupler, you can probably still use it
TheDixieNutjob It is usable.
TheDixieNutjob Are Kadee couplers compatible with O scale couplers? If so, I'm converting, and my dad is just gonna have to deal with it!
I don't know, I model in HO scale. I would assume so.
+Steven Michael from what I've on read on the ogr forum they are most of the time, but the couplers on MTH rolling stock and engines are the most notorious for not being entirely compatible.
makes me glad I'm an HO scale model railroader, for us it's just a matter of "does the elevation align correctly?"
Nice review!
GREAT SOUND BY ATLAS

doesnt the b unit have a smoke unit?
nevermind, I just got to the part where they came on. lol
ERIC HOW MANY TRAINS DO YOU HAVE
@@westtexasrailfanj. Think. Future. Of. Lionel. Is. Lion chief. Let's. A. Lot. People. Get. Into. O. Scale
Could you do the george bush up sd40?
don't know much about o scale but couldn't you just shut the sound off in the b unit and then run it on the same id
Yes, you can do that if you wish.
Without a close up of the new pilot and just going on what I've seen it seems to me it would be easier to remove enough of the plastic coupler pocket to do the install. The coupler is of no use so why permanently destroy the original mounting bracket. Just saying.
Won’t work that way. I tried it on another Atlas F3 previously,
Nice locomotives.
Awesome!!
I'm actually really missing the old Atlas sounds...
i can't believe how fast these videos get views and comments.
Love the mta car
cool
So shinny! I wanna touch it. -reaches for them-
lol😂
+ericstrains what is a mars light? Sorry for all my comments on this video I just keep thinking about stuff. I would appreciate if you answered! Thanks,
Noah
If you get another set dancing queen(abba for those who don’t get the reference) lash up
Lol
What makes the crew talk so controversial
some people just don't care for the crew talk sounds, but i think they are fun!
It looks like a emd f unit
good job very nice also first comment
Nope :3
