Here are some basic endings to determine whether a noun is masculine or feminine:
    Masculine:
-O: el dinero (the money), el cielo (heaven), el cigarrillo (the cigarette).
-S: el país (the country), el autobús (the bus).
-MA: el problema (the problem), el tema (the subject), el sistema (the system).
-OR: el señor (sir), el doctor (the doctor), el conductor (the driver), el profesor (the teacher).
-ISTA: el turista (the tourist), el tenista (the tennis player), el inversionista (the investor), el artista (the artist).
    Feminine:
-ORA: la doctora (the doctor), la conductora (the driver), la profesora (the teacher), la señora (madam).
-ISTA: la turista (the tourist), la tenista (the tennis player), la inversionista (the investor), la artista (the artist).
-DAD: la ciudad (the city), la comunidad (the community), la nacionalidad (the nationality).
-A: la cosa (the thing), la escuela (the school), la mañana (the morning).
-CIÓN: la nación (the nation), la estación (the station), la lección (the lesson).
*In the -ISTA ending, the article itself tells us if the noun is masculine or feminine.
Of course, there are exceptions to the rule.

Hi, I have just started learning Spanish and I am really glad to have found your channel🙂. Also, I would like to clarify the use of articles in Spanish. First, when you teach new words alone, you incorporate some words with article such as el libro and, some words without article. I wonder why. Do the articles of English and Spanish function the same way? I hope you could see this comment. Muchos gracias anyway. I really love your teaching method.

Dr Evans, Whats the game with playing your lessons in continuation after the end of each lesson? Is there a trick to ensure that lessons play in sequence? I go from Lesson 10 to lesson 22 and even when I search for Lesson 11 it is almost non existent. Frustrating as it goes against your flawless and very effective style of teaching. Do we need to pay for your lessons?
