I like the fridge placement on the Carrera, if I could change anything on our van 🚐 having had it for 2 years now, it would be that 😊😊my creaky knees don’t like where it is. 😂 handy at times to have the travel seats, but that walkway does become narrow 😊Like you, not a fan of tamba doors or dangling feet cab seats 😂 Always interesting to see how 6m vans are configured. Thanks for showing us 😁 Em 💜
Thanks for including the van conversions in your new van reviews. Always good to see them alongside the coachbuilts. I am not being harsh when I say that I don’t think Swift had their finest hour when they decided to design a van conversion. There are manufacturers out there that are ahead of them. Take care 😃👍🏻🚐💙 Trev
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Yes, I have one in mind but there’s fierce competition out there right now with a handful of really good converters on the scene. Perhaps we should do our top 5 😃👍🏻💙🚐🚐🚐🚐🚐 Trev
I do like these vans and I'm probably going to end up buying the 184 next March with an auto gearbox. The only drawback for me is the issue with Swift still recommending in their handbook the 3.9kg Calor LPG cylinders and the fact that Calor have ceased them now. I did speak with the Swift engineering lead at the NEC show. He said that they didn't yet have an alternative solution to fit larger cylinders in a separate cupboard. He acknowledged that they were looking at it, but, as yet, still were planning to make them through 2024 without a design change. That was disappointing for me given it is almost a year since Calor ceased them and soon will be 18 months since they announced it. Wouldn't be too bad using CampingGaz smaller cylinders "if" they had made the heating and water heating based on a diesel unit rather than gas. I guess we are left wondering whether or not they will resolve it...
I tend to agree with you over the LPG cylinder situation. It's all well & good Swift claiming they didn't know, the fact is it's happened! Swift need to step up to the plate & recall all the vans affected & do a factory fit/rectification, or an underslung refillable LPG tank modification! I personally would not buy one until the situation was resolved.
Yes, it's an unfortunate and off-putting situation. Medium-scale production always needs to have some level of flexibility to make design changes that may be required due to environmental, stakeholder, supplier factors. That shouldn't need a 1 year plus period if they have reasonable contingency processes in place. Otherwise you continue to knowingly build-in problems for customers who then have to independently try to source alternative resolutions where a converter solution would be the right one in the first place. When I was at the NEC show, 5 different potential customers asked about the LPG issue within a 15 minute period, so it's obviously something that can reduce sales. @@TimmysFavs
I agree Bob but buy 2024, they would have had 18 months since Calor first announced it. On a full gas utilities vehicle, surely by now, they would have drafted alternative solutions for each vehicle. I'm not a fan of head-in-sand design continuation.@@BobEarnshawMoHo
Well done Bob a great review and I think swift make some stylish vans my neighbour has the carerra and I like the rear lounge it’s quite airy and a nice place to sit it’s similar to the elddis cv40 in layout I think I think some makes like consort and ih seem to get more space efficiency in their van conversions
Great review as always, how has somebody at swift decided that putting the water dump valve switches in a cupboard was a good idea, push something to the back of the cupboard and flick the switch, what's wrong with putting them with the other controls, or better still doing away with the troublesome vales and having a good quality large bore hand valve, the stupid electric valves restrict the flow terrible, you have an inch bore pipe and a half inch bore valve, keep doing the reviews still the best on you-tube.
Thanks for the upload Bob, im not a huge fan of these camper vans, I tend to think they are for younger families/owners? I much prefer the comfort of a motorhome.
The tip up sink is a terrible idea, they neither look that safe or look capable of holding much water. It's on a par with the awful white nylon shower curtain!
While I agree, they are a bit flimsy in general... and I too don't like them... one small difference with this design is that the wash-basin has the drain attached to the tipping bit rather than most that you decant the water out the back into a trough as you tip it and then it drains away.
Style over substance, the new range looks great but poor design, that rear bed design is just stupid, plus poor storage below and why put the gas looker under the rear bench and it’s only big enough for 3.9 bottles. Come on swift you can do better.

Great review as always, the first van did look a bit cramped, I preferred the 2 birth, but not sure about that gas locker. Thanks for sharing 👍
Yes, it was a bit cramped.

It would have been handy if calor had pre-warned manufacturers!

We liked the Consort vans when we saw them at Harrogate, quite a bit more expensive the the Swift vans.

Yes, it seems a bit of an afterthought those switches, much better near the main control panel.

We probably agree with you!
First one was going so well until the tip up sink appeared LOL Not in my van LOL There goes number two. We are not fans of tip up sinks.
Our first Motorhome had one - we often tipped it accidentally...
@@BobEarnshawMoHo Our Lunar caravan had one, never again.
