The point about people getting frustrated when someone improves and beats them made me smile. There's a Juri in the lower end of Plat that I played a lot on my quest to get past Ultra Gold. I lost to her probably 5 times at least, but last time I saw her I had learned some of her tricks and beat her clean. She RQ'd before I could complete the 2-0.
that's the best feeling, I've encountered Vegas who did that to me too as I progressed past ultra silver. people who rely on tricks and don't think about the game are an endless source of satisfaction once you break them down
Had something similar recently where I finally beat an Akuma player I'd usually always lose to and he RQ'd at the end of the first match. So he either remembered me and got pissed or he didn't remember me and is a RQ coward in general. Either way 😂
The highest ranked player I've met I fighterz was a Zen-Oh called FrameDelayDrops=Quit. Pretty sure the frame drops were his fault, yet he RQ when he was 2 characters down

I had a friend in highschool. I won't say their name, but basically we had a group of friends that would meet up every weekend and we would play Smash bros wiiu for like 6 hours. Did it since Smash wiiu came out all the way to even after Ultimate came out. Estimated 7,000+ hours. We slowly grew the group over time, starting with the OG 8 players (I was one of them). Eventually we invited this one dude to come and this dude was really good at the game. After a few months of telling him to do a tournament and him saying he isn't good enough we decided to go to a local. No idea at the time that the top 5 players in our state are at the local. Our friend got 3rd in the tournament taking down some of the best in the state. Long story short the dude went pro, and eventually stopped going to smash night cause "You guys aren't good at the game and are a waste of my time.". This is the exact last message he sent to us before leaving our discord and none of us have really talked to him since. We did watch his games sometimes on discord in a group call if he was at a tournament that was streaming it on twitch. I think he is retired now if I remember correctly but it was a crazy thing to see happen. Hope he is doing well and that he made new friends.
The implication that there is an entire FGC lineage of Brian-underscore-initial players out in the world is hilarious to me. It's only a matter of time before Brian_G shows himself to challenge our beloved Brian_F
I've blacklisted a few guys that have beaten me. Usually it's the obvious smurfs I do it to though. Like when I was in ultra silver there was this silver guile and silver chun li that were 40k games with 90% or higher win rates. That's some weak minded shit if you ask me. Guys who could easily be plat/diamond+ parking in silver casuals. I hope cardnexus and atmospheric loop see this. Y'all two are losers.
There can be context to this. If I was in a situation where I was playing a smurf every 4 games or more I might blacklist a few of them for a bit just to get matched up with non-smurfs. There are two things that can happen 1) Griefers who specifically like to stay at a certain bracket below their skill level to, well, grief people. and 2) If most people blacklist smurfs, guess what happens? All the smurfs end up playing the people not backlisting them. It really just depends on the lay of the land with the online community and what your goals are.
I always get distracted by the chat box, There's so many things that relate to the struggles I have. Those Ken's with over 50k games who are hard stuck in silver, I hate playing them there's nothing to gain except for an aneurysm.
Vs1 is the default vskill, then I figured out which characters I couldn't easily use it against. Some characters have good far range anti-fireball tools that don't let you set up the vskill.
How does the crossup vskill work? From my perspective it looked like that necalli was mashing on wake-up, but does the vskill block direction change sides too if you cross the opponent up?
To block you have to hold away from the opponent, so when Oro changes sides the direction you need to block changes. Street Fighter 3 tried doing it the other way (You blocked projectiles from the direction they were fired from) and that created a whole bunch of unblockables
Is it bad to smurf if you do it to learn a new character but you don't want your points to suffer during the learning proces? I mean SF4 system had your rank per character instead of your overall rank as a player so you could play a new character without fear of losing the points you had on your other character, i miss that option so much.
It still means taking points off a load of people who are trying to learn the game. By smurfing you push people down to ranks they don't belong at so it makes the new player experience progressively harder with each smurf who goes through. SF6 having separate character ranks is a game changer. Lots of people camp in casual bullying players who genuinely belong at that rank, In SF6 those players are just going to end up playing with eachother.
Games like that are pre nice. Tekken does that, but then again I've always thought for fighting games it's never a smurf. I'd like to blacklist in Brawlhalla. Some people are just too bad at the game, they can't touch me unarmed, and still got to high gold somehow. (probably the same method I used to get to plat 2 years ago) And then there are diamond players just casually walking up the stairs in a challenge called "bronze to masters in a week" for clout. (it's rare, but 2v2 plat players will queue for casual 2v2 to perform the longest team combo for clout, and the comments will bash the opponents for their bad team play)
