Ugh this scratches such an itch for me. Stuff like Space Oddity and Gravity combine fear of inevitability and all the beauty/horror that comes with space in a way that's so, I don't know, universal? Everyone can understand and relate to it in a general sense one way or another. Tbf I cried both the first time I heard Space Oddity and the first time I watched Gravity, so maybe I'm just emotionally predisposed to being attached to this kinda thing. 😂

Edit: I've been really struggling with myself recently, and the second meaning to this makes it so much better. part two: We landed safe, and we show up at tom's trail and get him out of there by defending him cause he said our life, and someone who doe that doesn't deserve to be imprisoned.

Where you feel like you’re just trapped in an empty void with no support, no help, no way out. At one point I actually gave into it but luckily I’m okay now. Can you hear me, Major Tom? My head hurts, my chest hurts, I just want it to stop. The stars look so quiet and peaceful out here. The rest is just vast and empty. Even through the silence, I can hear it calling to me. I'm still breathing, for now. The low oxygen is making it hard to see Major, I'm sorry. Emergency oxygen tank must have been damaged in the collision. I can't tell if the black spots are just outside anymore. But my trajectory is still set for Earth. I've ran my fingers over the parachute release sequence a few times, I should be able to do it even if my vision completely goes out at that point. I can't recall how long I've held my arm on the thruster for, all I know is that it aches. ...I'm scared Major. I don't think I've ever been this scared before in my entire life. But... for once, I think that feels a little better than just feeling numb. I want to come home. I... want to see a blue sky again. But it feels so distant from here. Without the flickering navigation screen I can't even tell Earth apart from the countless stars. If I never make it back, just know that I tried. By god, I promise that I tried. I'm on my way.
