Driving down 18th Street from S Calumet Avenue in Chicago's Near South side Prairie District to Western Avenue in Lower West side. The trip will navigate you through South Prairie District, Pilsen
Heart of Chicago in Lower West Side. It was filmed after a month long Shelter in Place. There has been some street activities but non essential business are still closed. Enjoy and stay safe.

Thank you for sharing this trip into years past (for me). I have been practicing social distancing during the duress of these COVID pandemic times and have been staying in Santa Fe, NM. I have now completed a full year of isolation far from Chicago and the neighborhood of my childhood (I moved out 45 years ago). As the filming moves from east to west, I was still able to name all the sides streets that defined the entirety of the my stomping grounds now known "Pilsen"... Thanks again for the enjoyable (though eerily silent) virtual tour.

The old downtown is the loop. Except for the area near the lake, 18th has been immigrant based working class areas for almost all of Chicago's history, until the recent influx of money in the area from people who want to live near the Loop
