      Thanks. No I don’t breed them. They can be very hard to find captive bred.

      Mine was a wild caught snake and things didn’t go well with her. I’ve sworn I won’t get another wild caught species again.@@Madison-xy4hh

      I put a water dish in it’s enclosure, but I read somewhere that, similar to some geckos, they lap water from the leaves and need to be misted lightly in the morning and evening. But it’s nice to have a snake that doesn’t have to eat mice.

    Hi, I have been trying to find Captive Bred rough green snake. But all most all of them are almost triple or double the cost of the wild-caught. Where did you get yours? Any advice for breeders, I did try Morph Market but there were minimal options.

      I got her from a breeder online but lost track of who it was. I’ll have to do some digging and see if I can find a record of it. I did have to look for the longest time to find her.

    Are these just the regular green snakes u find outside.? Well, here where I'm from in Nova Scotia Canada. My son just cought one ysday and the rule is always keep for a day or 2 and then release ... However we took a look today to check make sure everything was ok and boom, an egg !!!!!!! I'm freaking out, I DnT knw what to do !???? Pls help !
    Also, he really wants to keep her, is this a good idea of we set up a proper tank ect and of so, do I seperate her frm egg or eggs ????

    • @WonderfulWorldReptiles
      @WonderfulWorldReptiles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well, I've never bred snakes and taking care of an egg is definitely not in my wheelhouse. I do know that the chances of a snake thriving are much less when it's a wild caught snake. Plus this is not the easiest snake to take care of. It is arboreal, so it needs an enclosure with vertical space and a temperature gradient that is vertical as well. It eats crickets and needs to be fed every 2 or 3 days, which is different from most snakes. It's also a species of snake that isn't very forgiving if parameters like the correct heat and humidity aren't spot on in it's enclosure. I think if it didn't survive, that would be more upsetting to your son then not being able to keep it. Honestly my advice would be to return the snake and the egg to exactly the same spot where he found it. But I wouldn't discourage your son from wanting a snake. I think a captive bred snake and a species of snake that would be hardy and easier for a beginner would be much better. A corn snake or maybe a ball python would be a good choice. Your son might not like this advice, but I just think keeping a wild caught snake leaves a lot of risk of it not thriving in captivity and that would be a very upsetting thing for your son. While getting a captive bred snake as a pet gives you both time to do all the research you need and have things set up for it ahead of time and know that it's ability to thrive will be much much greater. Feel free to email me at jameshawes5@gmail.com if I can answer any other questions. I'd be happy to help.

    Can rough green snakes live with frogs and lizards or fishes?

    • @WonderfulWorldReptiles
      @WonderfulWorldReptiles  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think they would do really well in a paludarium with some fish, but if the fish are small, they might eat the fish. I definitely wouldn’t put them with frogs or lizards. Bigger frogs and lizards could eat or harm the snake. Smaller lizards and frogs, like anoles and tree frogs are also arboreal and competing for the same arboreal space would put undue stress on all of them.
