I can't believe the 2 frontmen as so balls out rockin it. I remember at the time disco heated up with groups like heatwave ..Kool & the gang... the jacksons.. the SILVERS. But heatwave grabbed the bar in 78 -79
I must have played this song 10,000 times since 1978. It takes me to my happy place. RIP Rod, Keith & Johnny. Thanks for the music and good times fellas.
My favourite track of theirs ❤ Brothers Keith and Johnny Wilder singing joint lead on this one ( always and forever ) is the track you couldn't remember ❤ both sadly departed now 💔
Oh my God, I can’t believe you listened to this! One of my absolute favorite songs of the late-disco era. You should check out the drumming video of this tune by Alan Badia. It’s incredible!
Such a great time in music. Keyboardist Rod Temperton was hired by Quincy Jones to write songs for Michael Jackson and other artists. Loved how the choreography was as important as the songs back then. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and King Crimson. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
Temperton (Rest In Peace) was a musical genius. Anything he touched was platinum. He did wonders for Michael Jackson. Heatwave hails out the great state of Ohio. Always And Forever. Johnny Wilder Jr. (may he rest in peace) is the lead singer. His brother Keith (may he also rest in peace) was his back up on the vocals.
This came out when I was either a Sr. or Jr. in High School. This, and "Ain't No Stopping Us Now", by McFadden & Whitehead. Were both at the top of the charts. A party was not a party, unless you bumped both of those Hits. Great memories....Class of 79.
I haven't heard this song in 40 years (I'm 60) and this whole time I thought this was Earth Wind and Fire, duurrrr.... Great song, love your channel. 🤓
@@FootballRefHater A very close #2 for sure. I think Groove Line is a little less conventional mix that left a vibe from the first time hearing it as a kid. Boogie Nights is more straightforward and easily appreciated by everyone.
Oh yeah, Heatwave were great. Everybody knows Boogie Nights, but they made so many great songs: Razzle Dazzle, Put the Word Out, Lettin' It Loose, Eyeballin' and many more. All their albums are worth checking out.
I saw them live in Plymouth in 1977/8. They were great - such a funky band and I liked that they were a mixed-race group too, which was more unusual in the seventies.
This was and is still one of my favorite songs ever! I remember roller skate dancing to this! Im so very fortunate to have experienced some of the greatest songs ever when those songs first came out! I really live these reaction videos! To see peoples faces hearing these classic gems, such as this one, for the first time. Heatwaves, 'Always and Forever', was ALWAYS played at school dances. The words are phenomenal! Thank you for this!
I can't believe you missed this song either. Where I lived, this song and "Boogie Nights" were kind of the two signature songs from Heatwave, played on the radio a lot in the mid-seventies. It even has the "oo! oo!" disco chant in it.
Rod temperton was an amazing songwriter as well as keyboardist. He wrote off the wall, rock with you, Thriller, the lady in my life plus others for Michael Jackson, all of Heatwave's hits including always and forever, stomp for the brothers Johnson, spice of life by the manhattan transfer and other hits!
Fire! I was born in 1983 and missed this when it was fresh but its ok because I was still able to appreciate the genius because of recording. Give me the night and Thriller are some of most funky disco/early dance music of all time.
"Grooveline" was huge for a time back when. Peak disco. "Always and Forever" is the name of the song you forgot the title of. "Grooveline" could easily be mistaken for something done by Kool & The Gang or Earth, Wind & Fire. This video is fun, but televisions were fitted with small tinny speakers back then so a lot of full sound of this song is lost. The production values come through more clearly on the studio release. The song came across as a dancing wall of sound on the stereo back when.
I don't think that Heatwave so much was underrated back then cuz I was there when they were in their Heyday and just when I started getting things really cooking there was tragedy the lead singer was in a serious car accident and became a quadriplegic and then like 10 years or so later his brother was crippled in some kind of an accident I don't remember pills was car if it was some other kind but that kind of took the Shine off their success a little bit and they never really were able to rebound from that when he was in that car accident I think you was out of commission for like a year or something he did come back and send some they have some kind of a special seating set up so that he could still saying but I think if they hadn't suffered any of that tragedy they would have been much bigger cuz they were right and really good songs and they were singing them really well so I don't think it was so much like I said that they were underrated as just when they were starting to hit it big tragedy struck.
People do not understand that there was NOTHING like this when it came out. This is the best dance song ever! The opening synth is the best.
I can't believe the 2 frontmen as so balls out rockin it. I remember at the time disco heated up with groups like heatwave ..Kool & the gang... the jacksons.. the SILVERS. But heatwave grabbed the bar in 78 -79

This song never made it it to Canada that I am aware of. I discovered it in 2020 during the you know what. So funky!
@@janef220 It peaked at number 31 on Canada's RPM Top Singles chart in 1978.
It is the best song to roller skate to.. i burned up the wood to this many weekends as a kid.
"Always and Forever" is the song you're talking about with the lyrics "every day, love me your own special way." It is a favorite of mine!
We waited by the radio for this song to come on…you cant sit still can you 😂
Always and forever is their signature slow jam. R.I.P. Mr. Rod Temperton!
My favourite track of theirs ❤ Brothers Keith and Johnny Wilder singing joint lead on this one ( always and forever ) is the track you couldn't remember ❤ both sadly departed now 💔
Indeed by far my fav too
Oh my God, I can’t believe you listened to this! One of my absolute favorite songs of the late-disco era. You should check out the drumming video of this tune by Alan Badia. It’s incredible!
totally agree. and i love that drum cover too
THIS KING CRIMSON DUDE HAS SONE GROOVY TASTE
Such a great time in music. Keyboardist Rod Temperton was hired by Quincy Jones to write songs for Michael Jackson and other artists.
Loved how the choreography was as important as the songs back then. Great reaction Harri. Thanks Harri and King Crimson. Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦
You're Welcome🙂 Happy New Year(s), Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Festivus, and whatever else you've got🥰. Some epic tunes coming your way in '23 😋
@@kingcrimson254 Looking forward to it. ✌️👍🎶🇨🇦
BOOGIE NIGHTS was always my favorite Heatwave song until I heard this one again. I absolutely am obsessed with THE GROOVE LINE.

Johnny Wilder Jr. (may he rest in peace) is the lead singer. His brother Keith (may he also rest in peace) was his back up on the vocals.
I’ve seen the drumming video I love it
Never hear this before - WOW what a hidden gem !!!
Awesome! These guys are crazy good.
Hidden gem of a group!
Wow I totally remember Groove Line and I was only a kid back then. Keep your worries behind is the most memorable part of the song.
I think they also did the song Boogie Nights
Always and forever, it was played at my wedding in 1982✌️
This came out when I was either a Sr. or Jr. in High School. This, and "Ain't No Stopping Us Now", by McFadden & Whitehead. Were both at the top of the charts. A party was not a party, unless you bumped both of those Hits. Great memories....Class of 79.
2:17 Yes, Mr. Harri...that song you were singing is called "Always & Forever"
This is my wife's favorite dance song! Everytime it comes on her Jeeps Siruis radio, she turns the volume way up and rocks out! Excellent beat!
Roller disco! Great times. The hip dudes were flying on the rink. Good times
One of the many great funk bands out of Ohio during this era, roller rink jams
this is The One
I haven't heard this song in 40 years (I'm 60) and this whole time I thought this was Earth Wind and Fire, duurrrr....
Great song, love your channel. 🤓
For me this will always be their best song. What a groove.
Me too...Boogie Nights is #2
@@FootballRefHater A very close #2 for sure. I think Groove Line is a little less conventional mix that left a vibe from the first time hearing it as a kid. Boogie Nights is more straightforward and easily appreciated by everyone.
I love this song! I was always a big Heatwave fan, and this song was a very big club hit. So glad you got to hear it!
this was used in the last episode of freak's and geeks 👍
Heat Wave was so huge in US and Europe. Amazing! ❤❤
the drummer, Ernest "Bilbo" Berger, kills it. very underrated drummer...😂
Always and Forever!
I can't keep still when I hear this track.. So good ❤
Oh yeah, Heatwave were great. Everybody knows Boogie Nights, but they made so many great songs: Razzle Dazzle, Put the Word Out, Lettin' It Loose, Eyeballin' and many more. All their albums are worth checking out.
The big guns, star of my story all amazing
always and forever.... another good song
I’m a child of the 70s and I love all kinds of music, especially disco disco is the shit for me, but this is one of my favorite songs till this day!
I love this...spent hours learning dance moves for this!
🧏🏽♀️☝🏽Soooo……Nice Of You To Put The The Real “Cuts” Out Here❣️🎬
I saw them live in Plymouth in 1977/8. They were great - such a funky band and I liked that they were a mixed-race group too, which was more unusual in the seventies.
Heatwave knew how to put the soul in the bowl!

I remember dancing to this song at middle school dances back in the late 70s when this song came out. Such a GREAT song!
What a awesome song, remember these disco songs. Thanks!!!
Funky music not disco
Fantastic song
Absolutely ❤ this !!
Loved Heatwave the dancing and romancing stuff , brilliant ❤
You have to listen to Heatvawe - Always and forever. Beautiful track.
Classic 70's disco
Awesome song!! The Heatwave sound is all over it!!
The song you were trying to remember is "always and forever"
Hi Mr. Harri, Love this song.. ♠W.G.
That line “leave your worries behind” is one of the best hooks I’ve ever heard
totally energizing song just made you want to dance!
Always and Forever
Skate rink memory's for me with this song
I'm with you, I cant believe I've never heard this before. Also didn't know about the accident too.
Always and forever
Love ya, Harri!
Great song! (Blondie- Rapture...ripped this off!)
They should be in the Rock & Roll HOF.
Agree 100%. Very underrated. Boogie Nights is the magnum opus of the disco era.
Pure funky music
I only bought albums if i liked 3 or more songs. I bought this on cassettee in '79; it was the last great funk/disco band of the 70's.

Rockin' the bell bottoms to show off their footwork.
This song will always be one of my favorite Disco songs ever. It transcends you to the dance floor. 😁❤️

Dayton ohio stand up baby✊🏾
Feel the Funk
Gotta do "Nothin' From Nothin'" by the late Billy Preston
earth wind and fire before earth wind and fire
Templeman is on the keyboards in this
Harri, please do David Gilmour and Pink Floyd’s song “Coming Back to Life” PLEASE? Live from Pompeii. Thank you🙏🏼
This was a giant hit here in America. I'm sure you've heard their "Boogie Night" which also a big hit here in the US.
"Gangsters of the Groove" is another great song by Heatwave.
This song is harder than granite!
Certainly not underrated in my house. Great band, feel good dance music.
Jamie Fox really needs to play that one dude in a bio pick
This man has written for so many great musicians. He wrote Michael Jackson's Thriller.
We would play this song after a successful hiest in GTA v riding out

Listen to Party Train by the Gap Band.
HOT SPOT 1985 DAZZ band is a similar groove

Hola mi gente
They were not underrated
You just weren’t there.
this guy is clueless
So wait a minute. You know all these songs that he wrote but you'd never heard the groove line come on man!!!!
Always and forever!
