Question what mod is the unblockable icon swap (which now looks like a sun rise/spider sense logo)? That looks like it works so much better for timing than the Kanji in the base game.

Hey man no worries. Main thing you're going to need is Mod Engine. You'll download that from Nexusmods.com/sekiro then you're going to put all of its contents in the folder that your Sekiro exe is in. Then create a folder called mods, then any mod you download will go in there. Weapons and outfits go in a folder called parts. Animation mods and boss mods are put in a folder called chr. Timing is very strict in Sekiro you gotta be like 0.2 sec in or something around that timescale otherwise it won't parry and just do a normal block which increases your stagger meter. Parrying multiple things without knowing the full moveset pattern of enemies will be hard for new players. As veteran we already know their combos so it's easy for us to time since we know what's coming. That's why these Overhaul mods are so fun for us veterans because they change the patterns and mechanics of enemies it feels fresh.
