Metalhead checking in, kinda. No one can just listen to one single type of music, you need balanced musical diet to truly enjoy music, at least that's how it is for me. There's literally world of music out there so why limit oneself to single type of music even if you prefer ultra aggressive distorted stuff most of the time (Especially these days since people are doing amazing stuff in that vein)
@@kookoo9235 and THE MAESTRO...speaking of metalheads and Al....on Ozzy's Boneyard the other day, Tom Morello was DJ'ing...he mentioned Al D. as one of his major influences, and then introduced and played one of his songs on the air. It was a good night :)
Have seen RTF with Bill Conners and with DiMeola……. sorry guys need more than lightning speed and arrogance. Have you seen the clip where Chick admonishes Al for overplaying ? The show was in Philly....witnessed it first hand..
I can see this (in my dreams) happening at my home. What a great experience to be friends with such great musicians.Been playing the keys for 41 years I would love to have this experience.
@@robm321 I think you missed the point. The Di Meola has not enjoyed a successful 50 year career because of his arpeggios and bends. He is beloved by guitarist for his blazing fast alternate picking.
@@Lefty-Guitar-Enthusiast you think his musical talent is nothing more than muscle memory speed? I think he's a great composer and performer. All the top guys have speed. Paco was much faster. Also, many of his albums don't have much speed at all. I will agree that being fast helped him to get noticed early on, but his fans would have lost interest quickly if that's all he was about

Looks like PRS McCarty Archtop to Mesa Boogie Stiletto Ace 2x12 Combo...don't see any pedal in between other than lead/rhythm for the amp but still the great Al Di tone, good stuff!!
4:30 is one of the sweetest bass licks I have ever heard ! Honey

What is the backstory here ? Looks like Al just walked in off the street and nobody was expecting it. Where was this recorded ?
2:29 the pianist blows my mind with that. Nothing super complex, just something pretty 😂
Bass at 4:30
@@uhuhuuuhhh9883reminds me of tal winkfield from Jeff beck!!

Great performance! When was this recorded?
When and where was this performance? Excellent.
How old is this? Just wondering about what year it was.
Like falling off a log.
3:25 しびれるね
Even Chick could not have done it better!
From the names of the musicians I have the impression that they are Ukrainians, maybe Russians.
😢
Holy s#IT!
This tune was Not written to be "rock and rolled. This version is way overplayed. Check out Al Jerreau'd version. Gratitude Always to Chick!😑

I love some of Al's playing - it's brilliant with arpeggios and bends. and then sometimes he just goes for the cheap heat lol.
Cheap heat is a good way to put it
"Cheap heat"? Usually said by someone not capable of performing at that level.

What did they do to the rhythm at 3:08? Did they skip a beat or just switch the beat accents to the upbeats? Whatever it was it was awesome
Why focus on the bass solo right?
wow you guys brought it. You could be Al's band. How did you get that opportunity?
