      Robert Meyer I watched the Bundesliga as well and I think the only thing that still could be problematic are the "obvious errors". As seen in this video the var will be shown on screen therefore everyone in the stadium knows what is happening and there will be calibrated offside lines so nothing like Kostic's offside goal will happen. Like I said, the only thing missing are clear and precise definitions for an "obvious error" since every referee has a different perception.

      We in Germany had the VAR the Entire Bundesliga Season. The main standpoint from the Media here and most Fans is that it is Shit because it delays the Game and "takes out the Emotion after a Goal" but think those People are Idiots. In the Bundesliga the flaws were that they didnt show Video of the Szenes in the Stadium and didnt communicate it via Loudspeaker. And because some Refs still made Wrong or Controversial Decisions (for Example the DFB Pokal Final 3 Weeks ago) But like i said People who are against it are just Wrong, Idiots and on the Wrong Side of History.

We will tell you WHEN to celebrate..2 minutes later NOW ! The MOMENT has gone !

    As long as the system is used at referee's discretion, it's useless. Case in point in Switzerland - Serbia match a blatant foul on a Serbian player was not called a penalty because the referee refused to review it. On the other hand, a much less serious incident resulted in a penalty in Argentina - Nigeria match. This makes the system actually even worse than not having it. At least before I could say to myself: "The referee must not have seen what happened... he missed it." Now, it seems they deliberately refuse to look at the replay.
    For the system to really work, coaches should be able to challenge the referee's call just like in other sports. Perhaps they only have 1 or 2 challenges per half but the bottom line is that the coach should be able to FORCE the referee to review the play. Then and only then the system will be legit...

      in the worldchampionship 99% of the VAR moments ended with the right outcome so yes it is. if you are agianst var you suport acting playrs and unfair matches so the best flayrs dont win under fair rules. best thing ever to happen to the sport and best case will be if var made 100% of all the problems and we got rid of the human factor so it is 100% legi fair

      Maybe, if they`re doing it right: In Germany (Bundesliga) last season even the VARs made false decisions (which is even more incomprehensible than without a VAR). There was a penalty given in the halftime (where the teams were already off the pitch) and many of the emotional/ enthusiastic moments after a goal were gone because you had to wait for the VAR.

      "the on-field review where the VAR advises the referee to re-watch footage on a pitch-side monitor and reconsider their decision. In both cases the referee will make a TV signal gesture before communicating the final decision. On average from time the game is stopped to restarting it is taking about two-and-a-half minutes." TWO AND A HALF MINUTES is the average ,officially. I have attended games for 56 years and this is so far removed from the continuous,[ often, frenetic game I was used to, it's ridiculous. Do we REALLY want this in the name of technical correctness?

    FIFA has adopted much like features of DRS and TV review in Cricket, good to see the technology coming in which was very much needed in the fairness of the game in these high intense games, Right move to avoid and detect cheats and exaggerations. Always felt sorry for the Team or player when they are denied for their rights. Specialy penalties.

      If you ever played a football or soccer, being down in game takes away your morality. If Lampard's disallowed goal would've counted and tied the game 2-2 and maybe could've been a great morality boost to win the game. This is a professional game and not your Sunday league game, so this tournament can turn player's careers around or not.

National Teams work hard to qualify every 4 years to a FIFA World Cup, and to have referees' mistakes cut their teams' tournament short pisses me off. This isn't Sunday league where after the you go have a beer with the lads, there is money involved, players can get bigger bonuses from making it to the Final than the round of 16. Fifa makes a cashload of damn money that this could've been used 4 years ago.

      Rift of games I think most people don't have a problem with it. But the problem is the referees that are in charge of the var. some don't look at the footage properly, and they make mistakes. But if they put good referees behind it there will be no problem.

    I think it needs to be like coach’s challenge in the NFL. Instead of just certain situations where it’s used, a manager can throw a challenge flag. 2 times maximum for every half.

    • @adarkwahfranklin7090
      @adarkwahfranklin7090 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Its's a good idea but I'll say instead of the manager challenging 2 times maximum per half, I'll use the tennis system. Each manager has three calls in the hole game, and they can use their calls everytime of the game.
      If it's a good call the he still has 3 calls remaining and if it's a bad call he has 2 remaining. Only that will work for me.

  • @jennifermilford5925
    @jennifermilford5925 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Most of the problems so far could be solved by putting a challenge system in place. Each team has say two challenges they can make (the NFL does it by having the coach throw a flag on the field) and if they get those challenges wrong they lose the right to make any further challenges.
    It would eliminate players calling for VAR constantly throughout the game and it would take away the complaints (e.g. by England) that VAR wasn't used when it should have been. At present what we're effectively getting are teams being entitled to make limitless challenges by surrounding the referee making TV signs every time someone falls over in the penalty area.

It wasn't worse by any means but basically nothing changed compared to normal referee matches, we still had clear penalties not given and vice versa and we even had offside goals that weren't corrected! The system wasn't on point with camera footage and not all referees seemed to understand the rules very much. I hope for this WC that the VAR is well prepared!

    • @NoXPhasma
      @NoXPhasma 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      There will always be mistakes, but you can't see where are possibilities for mistakes, if you don't use it. And I've heard a lot of complaints by people about VAR, because they fear we could get into a system like in the US sports. Where every single pause would end up in ads. Others complained it would take away the controversy of football, which, in their thoughts, would be part of football.

    • @scproductions6311
      @scproductions6311 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most of the errors made due to VAR are result of referees incapablity to use it.Once the technology gets better and the referees get accustomed to it the decisions will be more accurate and many on field controversies can be avoided.

      Shakil mostly cause cricket generally has enough time to call things,by the umpire of course.
      Whereas in football,90 to 120 minutes affects things differently.If a referee wastes even a minute it'll start a war.

    The system is perfect...basically what happens is that the ref on the pitch or the refs in the VAR room decide what is worthy of a second look. Absolutely brilliant. Picking and choosing. Such an advanced procedure. Not...what would make it perfect however would be for the player that's fouled or believes a goal was offside for example, to call for the decision to use it. Not a ref who we know makes dodgy decisions at the best of times. Oh and have his microphone hooked up to a speaker and also the mic in the VAR room so everyone in the stadium can hear the discussion and not feel left out and oblivious as to what is happening. Replaying the claim on a large screen would also be a great way to keep fans involved also. Hardly neuroscience now is it? With the amount of money in the game, the is simple to do. In all the top divisions at least.

      @a.warner8246 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh and if the claimant falsely claims a foul and it turns out to be a dive for example, then a yellow card follows.

    FIFA, along with Referee's own choice/discretion, if possible, add upto 2 or 3 Reviews each team's captain can explicitly ask for a VAR-check in one match, which the Referee has to comply and check properly with VAR.

    This should be an independent process with everyone looking in. It is troubling that there is a FIFA official in the room. Because the FIFA official could notify the referee if their is a penalty when convenient as was the case with Germany when they played Sweden in the last minute. Correct me if I am wrong please. Another thing it should be used all the time or none of the times. I think this process will continue to evolve. It should be thoroughly tested and critiqued by the people so it can be universally accepted.

    the footage of the Iago aspas goal against morocco was viewed from a wrong angle. It looks it was not offside, but if you view it from a straight angle you can conclude it was offside. In addition in the footage they viewed you can not see the moment of the pass, just a black and red line. they tampered (not photoshopped) with images.
