Hello and welcome to the Top 10 Strangest RPGs! Many of the games here are those hidden gems we all secretly love. We've all played some pretty oddball games or gone through areas that made you scratch your head in disbelief. Here we are going to celebrate and highlight those games released in the Golden Age of RPGs! This will be followed by editions covering future years, so I would love to hear your suggestions as to what games you found to be the oddest. #gaymer #nintendo #rpg #playstation #xbox #asmr #atelier #steamdeck
I personally loved drakengard. I loved how the most messed up ending in that game led to nier and then nier automata
screw this guy, im breaking out my PS2 and starting a NEW FILE of this monstrosity

Shadow hearts covenant is one the greatest jrpgs ever made imo
Shadowhearts and it's sequel are easily my favorite jrpgs. They don't get the love they deserve. Thank you.
Hell yeah. Yuri is an amazing protagonist. I absolutely loved the dark tone. And town of twilight is still in my top 10 OSTs of all time.
@@miguelgonzalez6495 Old smudged map soundtrack is cool too, near death experience
ikr i think all who play it love it,it just that they never widely know at the time
I love this game and am always happy to hear other people talk about it. It's such an underappreciated gem that doesn't deserve its obscurity.
One thing I love about the PS2/GameCube/XBOX era is that we just got so many wonderfully weird and off-kilter games that had real production values behind them. They may not have all been masterpieces, but I'm glad they even got the chance to bring these games to light
I will always have hope for Shadow Hearts Trilogy HD and Xenosaga HD Trilogy. 😁
Same
I just want Matsuzo Machida to make a new game that has the same Gore and horror style, and that's RPG with charming soundtracks and good plotline
Do you really want to play SH: to the new world again?
@Shaman X idk xenosaga and xenoblade are both great followups in their own ways I'm glad they exist and want HD xenosaga for sure, but honestly I wish for a xenogears remake where they can actually have the budget to finish it properly too
@@michaelmiller7465 yes, i loved it. Although i know all the criticism towards it, but i just like to think about it as a different game that has nothing to do with its predecessors. Johnny is cool, the characters aren't bar, graphics are lit, story ain't that bad, but i looove the soundtracks in it, the university ost has always been stuck in my mind. And i guess another thing thats cool about it is the fact that 9t was released back in the days, it has that magic that u cant find anymore, the magic of being made in the 200x's. Of being pixelated yet far superior than some modern games, i hope you know what i mean
Dragon Quest is actually the more cheerful, lighthearted side of the rpg formula. Whereas Final Fantasy may look like a normal rpg on the outside. It has been known for mature and dark themes, nuanced characters, and the philosophy of mankind and the universe as a whole. Without Final Fantasy, there wouldn't be shin megami tensei, breath of fire, lufia, and even fallout.
While Fire Emblem may be standard with its plot and setting. It has one thing the franchise is known for. Permadeath. That's what the Fire Emblem series has been known for years ago. If an unit dies, they are gone for good. Each decision counts, careful planning, and stakes are much higher. Consequences matter in the Fire Emblem series.
To me, Final Fantasy may look like a Dragon Quest pastiche rip-off. But I found the franchise actually has took inspiration from another rpg series, Shin Megami Tensei. I believe the reason Final Fantasy got made, was because Digital Devil Story Megami Tensei had divisive yet cult following. And was a success. Final Fantasy actually would be better with a crossover with the Shin Megami Tensei series. Since it took a more influence from Shin Megami Tensei than Dragon Quest.
I heard rumors of a nintendo cinematic universe. If Fire Emblem got a film treatment, it needs to have strong pg-13 rating. Not a pg rating. While Super Mario is pg, and has a whimsical tone. Fire Emblem does have levity, it is not a comedy. It is tale war and political intrigue. If Fire Emblem got a animated film treatment, that series needs to be adapted carefully to do it justice. Intelligent Systems needs to be involved in the backup product. Fire Emblem may be a nintendo property, it technically comes from and made by Intelligent Systems.
The final ending in Drakengard is canon in NieR and NieR: Automata, little surprised that wasn't mentioned.
Dark Cloud 2 (Dark Chronicle in the PAL release) is one of my favorite PS2 games tbh. Being able to save pictures to a book that's shared across the memory card lets you make a pseudo-New Game+.
Final Fantasy X-2 is best played while drunk (kind of kidding, kind of serious. The atmosphere is really up-beat and the way the game is laid out you basically go to a place, do a thing and repeat at another place).
Dark Cloud 2 is probably one of my favorite games ever
Its a shame that the Xenosaga trilogy has been forgotten by Namco it seems. You'd think they would have at least remastered them by now.
Not as forgotten as you'd think given KOS-MOS and Telos keep popping up everywhere (Including as Blades in Xenoblade 2.).
xenosaga is truly the most fantastic and insane story ever. and brutally heartbreaking but so moving. its a million different things all into one. the second one looks strange but once u start it, you get used to it. "a single human thought can change the world"
@@CC_Reads i liked 2, not as much as 1 but i certainly didn't hate it like most seemed to. the combat system was actually really fun and satisfying once you understand it, i think most people just like more simple systems that don't require as much thought.
to me, xenosaga was better than ffx in every way, especially voice acting, and ffx was only so much more successful because it had ff in the title. ffx was still a pretty good game but xenosaga had me glued to my seat way more than ffx did.
Nah, for multiple reasons. Prime one being the series didn't do as well as they hoped. Apparently it was supposed to be 6 games total, but got cut down to 3. On top of that, the times have changed for the series. Xenoblade has taken over and they probably have some agreement that Nintendo has the reigns on the series for now. I say agreement because the xenosaga character KOS-MOS appears as a blade in Xenoblade 2 and there's no way Nintendo would do that unless they talked to Namco first.
Smt: nocturne is one of my favorite games ever. So well designed.
unlimited SaGa took me so many attempts throughout the years. I repeatedly tried and couldn’t get into it. I didn’t understand the mechanics, or how to develop my characters. I knew I loved the soundtrack though, so I wanted to keep trying. I did some research...and once everything clicked, I actually really enjoyed it. The panel system for building your character’s stats was actually very clever, and while the crafting system is weird, you can just use a guide until you understand it. I loved reaching the end of a dungeon and getting a super rare panel that I was hoping for. It was fun to plan how you wanted each character to specialize
i remember being so excited for unlimitited saga because it was a new squaresoft rpg on ps2 and i played and loved just about every one of their ps1 rpgs. once i finally got it i was like "what the hell is this?" i tried for a couple of days to give it a chance and get into it but it wasn't happening, ended up trading it in a few days later.
I really love Drakengard, even though it's a pain to play
Okay, I have to ask how you could possibly skip Disgaea: Hour of Darkness (August 2003)? That is one of the strangest RPGs ever made. You can literally jump inside of your items, reach level 9999 multiple times, and have to bribe or beat up a senate just to get new mechanics.
You’re right, I’ll shoehorn it into the next video, lol
My top 10 RPGs of all time:
1: FFX
2: FF9
3: Shadow hearts 1 & 2
4: FF 6 & 5
5: Golden sun 1 & 2
5: Suikoden 2 & 5
6: Radiant historia ( DS )
7: Nino kuni ( DS )
8: Persona 4 ( mainly for OSTs )
9: Jade cocoon ( ps1 )
10: Shadow hearts 3
( I probably forgot lots of other good ones )
Jade cocoon is that special kind of low budget awesome gameplay gem that I rarely see anymore, you'd think idie devs will try to recapture that kind of success too its a shame
Xenosaga were some weird games, and damn good ones.
xenosaga always makes me cry :) thank you for putting it here
Xenosaga was definitely a surreal nightmare similar to Eva and Bokurano or something. :p Sometimes I'm surprised it's T-rated given Albedo, like holy shit. XD
Really love Darkengard 1, smt nocturne, Xenosaga, Shadow Hearts 1
Great Video
Since there's a lot of love for the Shadow Hearts series in the comments. I like to point out that Shadow Hearts is the sequel to Koudelka for the ps1. Due to poor sales, the Koudelka's sequel was rebrand to shadow hearts for the ps2 with its continuity and lores intact.
i wish i had played them. i heard the combat system is kinda similar to additions in legend of dragoon, and lod is one of my favorite rpgs ever, in large part because of the additions. if it had a basic attack like ff i still probably would have liked it, but not nearly as much as i do.
I remember picking up unlimited Saga ready to go, but once I started I was like, the hell is this? and promptly put it into the case and never looked at it again lmao.
Yaaasss I'm living for this. This is literally my childhood/love for JRPG's, put into a video. Thank you! Love it!!!
0:39 I JUST started playing this. Good to finally see the origin of one of my favorite series. Totally forgot how to play it!
XEnosaga needs to be updated and added to ps4 :( About FFx2 you can get 100% easier if you watch all the cutsecence ins chapter 4-5 of the data sphere.
What happened to Skies of Arcadia? Fantastic and strange game. The Legends GameCube port came out in 2002.
I mentioned the Dreamcast release in the previous episode.
I missed that episode!😱
So glad you can get Dark Cloud 2 on PS4 PSN store now! And at a reasonable price!
Some that I think you overlooked:
Dual Hearts (Feb 2002), obviously overshadowed by OTHER Hearts games around the same time, is a spiritual successor to Alundra. Kind of more Zelda-style action RPG but in people's dreams.
Skies of Arcadia Legends (Jan 2003), yes, it's a re-release, but for those of us who didn't have a Dreamcast, it's a whole new experience. Even by today's standards, it's a damn fine game (I would just add quality of life features, obviously, but I really hope it gets remade)
Also, I was going to say Sigma Star Saga, but that came out in 2005 (but, being an RPG where every battle becomes a side-scrolling shoot 'em up in a spaceship, it's definitely unique). Also, it was made by WayForward, hopefully they'll revive it someday as well.
I loved Sigma Star Saga! I picked it up from a liquidation store in like, 2010, just for the novelty of seeing a GBA game on the shelves at that time, and I ended up not playing anything else until I was done.
I love the game, but have to throw a vote in for legend of legaia. With movement-based karate moves, and esper creatures as magic, plus only 3 playable characters in an almost 40 hr rpg, its unusual. But awesome.
Only 3-4 playable characters are pretty normal if you think about Wild Arms 1 and the Mother series though. :p Threads of Fate has even fewer with only two as well. I find being able to have a shit load like Radiata Stories to be even stranger than too little. XD
It's in the 1996-98 video, as it came out in late 1998
I love how hardcore FF X-2 is compared to most other final fantasy games (main line)
it's got a genuinely fantastic job system and fun, challenging combat
The story in the first half isn't the greatest, but the later half develops yuna's character in a way I really liked, showing how much she's grown from the self sacrificing summoner she used to be.
That speech she does always gets to me
Plus A Thousand Words is really good too.
It's fun finding all of the secrets in the game, it's not meant to be 100% completable in a single playthrough (that's meant for new game plus and going down whichever route you didn't take) but the fact it can be done if you follow a guide is neat too imo.
One game you missed off the list was Lost Kingdoms for the Gamecube.
It's a strange game, originally called Rune in japan, you take the role of Princess Katia, who after escaping her castle when it's attacked, she manages to get away with a powerful runestone (the kingdom's treasure), that allows her to control monsters through magical cards. She can summon them to fight enemies for her, and when the monsters are weak enough, she can use the runestone to turn them into cards.
It sounds very Pokemon-like when put like that, but all battling is done in real-time. Katia herself cannot fight either, so you're forced to build a powerful deck of cards/monsters for all situations, as some monsters will appear to fight for you, while others may be one-off uses during the battle (like a summon in a Final Fantasy game... they appear, do their attack/skill, then disappear again).
For its time, it was quite a beautiful game, and had a very unique battle system.
SMT is my favourite series and I love Lucifer's call (nocturne), also SMT came before pokemon. I think the strangest JRPG I have played is Evergrace for the ps2.
Got that right, it would be nice to get dark cloud 3 on ps5. Make huge cities.
One of the things I really liked about drakengard 1 was that the later endings acted almost as punishments for the character actions that lead to them. The main party are not good people and ultimately don't deserve a happy ending, try as they might, and they definitely won't get that happy ending by killing even more people, and so instead the story spirals down into the abyss
Shadow Hearts and Xenosaga are one of my favorites RPGs, i really like then, and Drakengard as well, i find it interesting and its dark story draws me a lot.
This was basically just a list of all the games I played in middle school
You talked about Evolution!! Yes!!
I played the dreamcast version of the second game as a kid, it was so stylish. Great japanese voices.
Xenosaga is one of my favourote ever. Its so unique, yet so easy to play and the story is so on its own.
With Xenosaga. It wasn't intended to be 6 games with Xenogears being the 5th game. This was a misconception made by GameSpot because both Xenogears and Xenosaga were intended to have 6 episodes and Xenogears was labeled "Episode 5" - Tetsuya Takahashi has shot down this notion in interviews. As well, Xenogears: Perfect Works outlines episodes 1-6 for Xenogears, with 2-5 being parts of the 10,000-year history of the Xenogears Planet. Xenosaga Episode 1-3 all take place parallel to Xenogears Episode 1, as well, we know that Xenosaga Episode 3 was condensed versions of the intended later episodes. Xenosaga 1-6 is more like a retelling of Xenogears Episode 1, not a retelling of Xenogears 1-6.
Why would you stop at the first ending in Drakengard? The best parts (and the canon ending, which leads to Nier and Nier Automata) all come after the first ending!
Xenosaga 1 was awesome! 2 was ok, the story started getting weird tho. Cant remember if I ever played 3. It's really a shame that they weren't ever able to make them the way they wanted. After learning that Xenogears was part 5 things made a little more sense. Not much tho lol.
Final Fantasy X-2 experiments itself, it has a tone that's a mashup of Charlie's Angels meets Cutie Honey.
I don't know if you already played this game or know about it, but I thing it's best to include "Z.H.P. Unlosing Ranger vs Darkdeath Evilman" from PSP in the video with the strangest from 2010.
I LOOOOVED Drakengard. I'll agree mechanically it's not a good game though.
Have you ever played Love Quest for SFC? It's SUPER weird! The PS2 Devil Summoner games are pretty strange too
What is a real shame about Xenosaga is that if you look at the very first 8-minute-long trailer for the first game, you can see scenes that are at the end of Xenosaga 2! Imagine the scope of this series if all 6 games would have been released as he envisioned! Oh well, at least, we have the Xenoblade Chronicles series now.
Pat SG i remember seeing that, it shows jin with the fireflies but in Episode 1 graphics
Love the shadow hearts series. Was hopeing for a HD trilogy collection for current gen but the rights are in limbo somewhere. The creator is doing a new IP tho taking some inspiration from shadow hearts. That was 2 years ago tho so who knows what he is doing, maybe something for next gen.
I'd be okay with a game that is Shadow Hearts in all but name.
Keep the Horror atmosphere and themes, gameplay focused on turn based rpg combat, weird and eclectic cast, and all should work just fine.
I will miss Yuri though.
@@ShadowWolfRising maybe a complete reboot.
Thanks for posting! I had no idea that car game existed. If my memory serves me, the Dreamcast version of Evolution 2 DID have hand crafted dungeons for the story dungeons with the randomly generated ones being in that tower you could go to. Also while it isn't a direct sequel, isn't Rogue Galaxy a spiritual successor to the Dark Clouds?
I own the Xenosaga trilogy. Still haven't completed it. I wish they would make a re-master of the series.
Definitely recommend it to anyone who is even vaguely interested.
Xenogears is one of my all time favorites. I never got around to playing Xenosaga, but I will now.
Xenosaga was also interesting to say the least I liked it myself😔💙
Weird Fact; Only Xenosaga Episode 2 got to PAL regions.
And isn't Nier connected to Drakengard?
Yes the true ending where the goddess opens a portal to the modern world shows the events that affect ther world of nier 1. Drakengard 3 is a prequel that explains her power to do this.
Final Fantasy may have a typical fun and hopeful feel on the outside. But on the inside, it actually has complex themes and a mature atmosphere. It can get dark when it needs to be. Not being serious for the sake of it.
I was underwhelmed by Shadow Hearts mostly because I never could tell what the hell was going on. I was halfway through when I realized what the graveyard was for. Looking back, it was a damn fine game.
I played Nocturne around the same time last year and it is incredible. Demon fusion could keep me up for hours
Think the only game missing on here in terms of "weird RPGs" would be ChoroQ (2003 - PS2) - though it's definitely not a "gem" in the strictest sense (better than Unlimited Saga at least lol)
Awe! I used to love Evolution Worlds!
Although it's not really weird, Drakkan the ancient gates is the best action rpg for the ps2, amazing game
Weren't some parts in Final Fantasy VII and X always pretty weird actually? :p The Lifestream and Mako, Fiends and Unsent, and so on...
Man, I never did beat Evolution, and I remember it playing really strange and kind of hard... I sort of miss though, at least a little. :p There were so many freaking unique games in the PS1-PS2 era and other similar consoles...
I beat evolution worlds one the game cube once unfortunately. I had to cheat at the very end for the last two boss fights in the finale dungeon. I could tell the first part was was abridged had stuff left out. Especially with how things went down with the boss fight with Eugene and how it ended. Sadly you don’t have a big selection of party members I think there’s only six of them. You can only take two off them at a time the last ones not avilable for that long in the game. Your main party member for two of the dungeons is not available for reason i won’t spoil.
i love darkcloud 2
6:40. Oh and Monica's here too :)
Unpopular Opinon probably. I like Nocturne way more than any of the Persona games and wish Atlus would shift a bit of their focus to SMT.
Came here because of the Shadow Hearts thumbnail. I was not disappointed.
Dark Cloud 2 is a good game, but I like Dark Cloud 1 more. Hopefully Dark Cloud 3 will happen eventually.
i was only able to play Xenosaga II since this was the game released in PAL regions (with a DVD with all cutscenes from the first game) so I'm currently play Xenopirate I - III on an Emulator and boy it's fun :-)
Regarding FF X-2 my problem with the 100 % wasn't even the do all missions stuff... it was the "press x during a CUTSCENE so Yuna WHISTLES so you get it" i mean this wasn't explained anywhere not even a button was shown that you could do it.
10. Shadow Hearts is a classic and I am very upset the IP holders have done nothing with it, they've done less with it than Konami has done most of theirs.
.......Semi-Related, you watch that video I linked you? About the cut party member.
9. I've never been particularly fond of it, in fact the only one I own is Days of Ruin.
8. Da zog? This might be the first time I've seen this, I know I've never played it.
7. Only played Xenosaga 1 (But Own all the Xenoblade Titles.), shame we never got the full 6 and it got watered down so much (And censored somewhat in the West over violence and Blood..............which ironically Japan now does for THEMSELVES and we get the uncensored version (Resident Evil 7).).
6. I rented the 2nd on the Dreamcast once. Would love a port/remaster/remake on modern consoles (Or a Dreamcast Mini containing them.).
5. I own the Digital Versions of both on my PS4, and a Physical Copy of the 1st on PS2. A classic game series that.......I am honestly baffled no one has tried to copy the town building elements in more recent JRPGs. Like That shit is perfect for multiple series (I would lose my shit for a new Suikoden where I can Customize my base personally.).
4. This game is absurdly complicated and the Western Manuals is straight up wrong in many areas, Someone LPed the game and did a bunch of Tutorial videos before the LP itself. The Tutorial Videos add up to over an hour. Admittedly it makes alot of the game make a ton more sense.
3. Ah Nocturne, remember driving around for a while trying to find this as a young lad. Took us forever to find it, but we did. This game does not pull it's punches, in fact it go tells it friend to hold you down so it can gut punch you multiple times, but dammit if it isn't a great game (And the only one whose morality system in the main series isn't a complete joke. There being more than 3 alignment choices and none labeled Chaos or Order, the games that came after should have kept that.).
2. Rented a few times, I can make so many jokes about it. It's silly, it's goofy, and the extra side story that takes place after it with the HD version that pretty much no one liked. Also I don't like J-Pop, so the idol aspect to me.......is kinda infuriating (A Thousand Words is good admittedly, even Spoony liked it.).
1. HAHAHAHA! Caim is one of my favorites Main Characters, if only because of how different he is (Note, I don't think he's incestuous, I think that's just his sister, he seemed rather disgusted when he learned her feelings.).
Caim is Luca Blight, if Luca Blight was in a Setting where he is SOMEHOW the lesser of 2 evils.
.......I would love to see Caim fight Luca Blight.
I haven't played the game, but from the little shown in the video and from what you said, he gives more of a Mithos Yggdrasil vibes. At any rate. not a hero at all.
@@asmodeus58XX Who Caim AKA 'I grin in a way that says "I'm loving this shit!" while I murder countless people.'?
My Luca Blight Comparison was not a loose one.
... Have you played Knights in the Nightmare?
Xenogears was never going to be Xenosaga episode 5. Xenogears episodes 1-4 would've explored the previous lives of Fei and Elly as seen during flashbacks and during the opening movie to Xenogears. Episode 6 would've been the sequel to Xenogears obviously.
Xenosaga was always going to follow the characters introduced in the first episode and never actually include Xenogears as one of it's episdoes.
If you have to put all the Xeno games in the same six part Xenogears story then the entirety of Xenosaga would possibly be Xenogears Episode 1 (the time leading up to and including the opening movie) with Xenoblade Chronicles 1 & 2 maybe being Xenogears episode 6 as we know nothing about what it would've been. Xenoblade Chronicles X is a spinoff. Or vice versa with the Xenoblade games. I haven't gotten around to them yet to make a full assessment on where they could be placed...not that there's any other place for it to go than Xenogears episode 6 if you were to try to fit them all into the same story.
However, even thinking about it in this way is wrong. The three series are never actually meant to take place in the same timeline and only share certain things. The creators themselves said something similar during the run of Xenosaga. You could just brush it off as them trying not to get sued by Square but it's not too far off from the truth.
When I first played Xenosaga Episode 1, I always took it that possibly the Durandal was a sister ship to the Eldridge set out on a different mission. One housing Deus, the other the Zohar emulators. The Durandal never did have the original Zohar and that's how it eventually ended up on the same planet as Deus. So to me, the entire Xenosaga was more of a concurrent side story to Xenogears episode 1 if anything.
However, it's been forever since I played Xenosaga and I didn't actually get around to the second game and never picked up the third game, much to my regret now.
except the Xenoblade games are their own thing entirely....I mean the first one was originally going to be called Monado: Beginning of the World. The only reasons they chose the name Xenoblade Chronicles were 1) XENOblade in reference to the Monado ( the blade part ) and as an homage to the team's prior work due to some similar themes ( the Xeno part ) and 2) the Chronicles part allowing each game to tell their own stories without needing to connect ( with X even starting it's own side story that sorely needs a sequel to continue after that cliffhanger ). Just wanted to add that little bit of info, it always bugs me when people act like there's one "Xeno" franchise when there's Square Enix's Xenogears, Namco Bandai's Xenosaga franchise and Nintendo's Xenoblade Chronicles franchise...yeah they share some elements & themes, made by many of the same people, and even throw in little nods to each other ( like the KOS-MOS & T-ELOS cameos in Xenoblade 2 for example ) but they're not all one franchise...
I remember playing evoultion worlds but i remember seeing mag with red hair
While I usually agree with you on most of your videos I have to greatly disagree with you with your assessment of drakengard. I absolutely love this game and think it is just another example of Yoko Taro at his best
Ephemeral fantasia didn't make the list?
I think he had that on a different list.
I screamed when Nocturne came up!
Thumbs up for Drakengard. I have upgraded every weapon to max in this game and I still don't know why. I had to mute the music though.
Understandable.... i mean.. its weird and repetitive
Does FUTURE TACTICS count as an odd rpg
11:15 Totally lost a point of Yoko Taro's game design lol.
Unlimted Saga = best battle theme of all time
I love Dark Cloud and part 2!
I'm playing through nocturne right now! Also it's actually the fourth since the SNES had I II and If
It's the third mainline smt game
The SMT series also started on the SNES rather than the NES. The originals released for NES were just MT.
@@ragnaroktomorrow aren't the SNES SMT games loosely remakes of the NES ones?
@@lunarrhythm7344 I don't know for sure since i haven't played the SMT games yet but reading up on the plot it seems fairly changed. The original MT games followed the Digital Devil Story novels.
I'm sorry you didn't enjoy drakengard I liked it myself it was both fun and challenging to the mind for myself😔💙
I already am familiar with your channel but you oughta clarify that this is a list of Japanese RPGs. I would miss Dark Alliance on this list for instance
Would it be an option for you to have a separate channel for let's plays? Some folks just want these types of vids. Your life and your channel, but if you can that'd be cool
Drakengard was definitely weird as hell... The Watchers, weird ass bonus ending with that horrible rhythm game, etc... It's amazing Nier at least is considered popular as I at least hated the voice acting, easy levels and hard bosses, and very convoluted ways to get weapons...
The weapon evolving, magic moves, and weapon lore which is sadly only implied and not shown were some really strong points to the game for me though. :p As for everything else... really not sure... never got into 2 and 3 because of it's low points. :p
Drakengard 2 is the better one, it's story kind of makes more sense. The 3rd is even weirder than the first
Ooooh, I remember Drakengard. Was too young to pick up on all that fucked up shit but I do remember it kinda sucking.
um...the Advance Wars games are just strategy games, not RPGs.....
I think Evolution Worlds is one of the worst games I've ever played. I played it when it was released, and hated it immediately. Still beat it though
I like the drakengard saga a lot and of course i like nier... and drakengard is a good game (although... i didnt... like the music too much)
Dark Cloud is a weird game? o.O
SMT nocturne == Pokemon for adults
*recommends a $200 game for GBA. Ya I'm good...
I thought these were supposed to be Hidden Gems?
SMT Nocturne!!!!!
kinda hated Drakengard's gameplay
Totally agree about Unlimited Saga. An absolute crap game and biggest waste of money ever, game-wise.
ffx-2 only 100% was that 102 %
i recently played Drakengard. that game was terrible. i think what i hated most about it is how most of the side characters couldn't seem to shut up about how the main character is a mass murdering psychopath. every 10-30 seconds they bring it up, usually by berating the main character for it. that got real annoying real fast.
How do you call this a top ten list hidden gem list yet you mostly bash the games
Drakengard is amazing and terrible. You won't find a story like any other and boy is it one hell of a trip. Yoko Taro is a madman and i love him for it, but guy isn't exactly at the pinnacle of game design. Honestly I just watched an LP on youtube that went through everything because it looks seriously painful to play. If any game deserves a ground up remake it's Drakengard. Fix up the gameplay a bit and give it a graphical facelift and i think it'd be pretty great... though even with that it would probably never leave cult classic because of its fever dream of a story, but ah well, so it goes.
