@@StormyWeather93 mind of mencia was on air and doing amazing next to Chappelle show and South Park. Pretty sure those were the top 3 shows on Comedy Central. I don’t blame CC but I also don’t think highly of these main stream organizations either because it’s always about the bottom line no matter if they’re in the wrong.

Joe standing up against Mencia is what made me become a fan of him. Stealing jokes and passing them off as your own is weak af. Also, the Carlos Mencia show was not funny trash.

@Green Mencia went after Rogan, he lost his manager and couldn’t play the Comedy Store for a while and when Joe finally got some clout, he gave it right back to Mencia.
@Green True-ish. I've seen him use Kinison and Cosby jokes too. He didn't just take contemporary jokes. That's when I stopped liking him. That wasn't an accident.

The Comedy Store doc is the best thing I’ve seen in years. I’ve watched each episode 3 times.
Watched all 5 episodes of this on showtime. It was Fantastic. The part about Sam Kinison dying in Karl Lubove's arms was gut wrenching.
I'm a singer-songwriter and I know Simon and Garfunkel's The Boxer like the back of my hand. I know the lyrics so well, I've played the song a thousand times. I literally did not see that moment coming.
Bravo, Mr. Binder. That montage at the end, where he's the fighter who still remains....... What an amazing documentary!

Bobby Lee recently gave Carlos a chance to apologize on his podcast but Mencia is still so embedded in his own narcissistic delusion that he even shot down Bobby's girlfriend when she suggested that he blame it all on cryptomnesia. Carlos can't even bring himself to admit the possibility that he accidently stole jokes when the whole world already knows he's a thief. How delusional do you have to be to think THAT'S the move?
What about Amy Schumer?
She wasn't doing it so blatantly, most of her stolen jokes were several years old (one of the most provable joke was 7 years old). And AFAIK she didn't stole any closing segment. Also, she defended her self that all these "stolen jokes" were written for her, by her writers and later on they got fired. That can be true, because after that her routine is only based on disgusting pussy jokes (in here last Netflix special, it's actually hilarious, when she doing a different subject, like politics; the crowd freezes and doesn't understand anything, you can see it so clearly in their faces, so she has stop and to go back to the bad pussy jokes 🤣)

Why?? Amy Schumer is barely even relevant anymore except when you keep bringing her name up in regards to joke stealing.
Amy Schumer is amazing!
She knew she was getting heat so she kinda was able to slow down and get ahead of it. TBH though it was mostly her sister who had been writing a lot of her jokes that had been doing the stealing. Still she probably knew and is just as guilty.

I think Joe just felt bad for Amy ... the differenxe between Schumer and Mencia, was that Mencia himself openly and unabashedly stole material and used it in his sets and specials and sketches. Everybody knew it, and he exploded in power and popularity because of it, mucj like Dennis Leary in the early 90s who became huge stealing bits from Louis CK and Bill Hicks... while Amy started out with her own material, and when she started getting big, she basically hired a bunch of writers to write her bits, her sketches, even her specials. Her writers seemingly under pressure to keep the gravy train rolling obviously stole material, and while I dont know for sure, it can be assumed with the benefit of the doubt that Schumer herself wasnt even aware of some of the stealing (although I will say she def knowingly stole at least one bit from Patrice)
Mencia himself stole, while Amy possibly unwittingly used stolen material. Its a nit picky difference, but enough to maybe gicer half a pass on some things, plus female comics who get that popular are pretty rare so folks in "power" like Joe would probably be more inclined to give her that benefit ofbthe doubt.

Before beginning their set, the comics should have said "Hey people, just to let you know, you heard these jokes here first. You'll probably hear them again in the future from Carlos Mencia. Relax. It's not Deja Vu.......it's just joke theft." If EVERY comic did that on the same stage on the same night, Mencia would be gone.

Joe wouldn't call out Amy Schumer.
He absolutely has to friends of hers he has had on the show (Hannibal Burress did a pretty terrible job defending her when he brought it up) but the Mencia thing was directly affecting him and while I'm no Amy Schumer fan what Mencia did was far more agregious

Carlos Mencia was definitely a joke thief but so was Amy Schumer. Joe and a lot of these other comics didn’t keep the same energy when it came to Amy.

She wasn't as notorious mencia was stealing jokes then having the people he stole from go on after he used their material all I remember about Amy schumers thing was someone in a writers room pitched stolen sketch ideas to her for her tv show and she used them or maybe ahe pitched the ideas in a writers room I'm not totally sure but mencias shit was heinous and way more disrespectful to his fellow comedians
