Loved this whole era of _The Avengers_ when I was in high school -- I remember my brother owning a copy of the gold-foil-coated _Avengers_ #360, which was about as '90s as you could possibly get.
Harras's run on Avengers is so much better than what people think and this book really tells a great Avengers story. The Crossing was absolutely dreadful, but that's another story. I'm really hoping for an Operation Galactic Storm Omnibus! It's really bizarre they haven't gotten round to it. it's such a great story
It's a shame the Harras run is judged solely on the missteps of The Crossing, as this was a really unique era for the title, with this heavy, melancholy atmosphere hanging over all the stories. (And that Kaminski Grim Reaper arc is some great bleak, creepy stuff. Talk about an underrated writer!)
Bring on the 90's jacket goodness! This will pair nicely with Avengers: The Crossing (yes, Omar, I heeded your recommendations those many months ago!).
Don't care what anyone says, I LOVED this era of the Avengers. Bob Harras made it interesting again after a few years in the doldrums and that Steve Epting art brought a new freshness to the title. Can't wait for this book.

So I just finished this book. Very glad for the recommendation. I didn't care for the filler material but the Harras/Epting stuff is top notch. Definitely left me feeling things, and this is my introduction to the Eternals, Black Knight, Crystal, and a few other characters. I'm glad I read this before the Eternals omnibus to give me a good basis for these characters.

Hi Omar. Uncanny X.men Omnibus vol. 3 never showed up in Europe (maybe coulpe of copies). Did marvel again print less than market demanded. Even amazon did not get any books, which is crazy. This book was printed in China, there is no lockdown there. They can print as many copies as marvel wants.
I'm assuming (and this is just from limited information i got from where I pre-ordered my copy) that more will be available in the coming months. I was told my copy would be arriving end of March, which kinda sucks but I'm waiting on collecting as many X-men omnis as I can before I started reading them in chronological order so I'll be patient.
That's a PHAT book. Thicker than I expected. Preordered the DM variant. This will go right beside the crossing. Anyone looking for a copy of the crossing my LCS has one on the shelf.

I loved how in the 90s even the B-characters such as Sersi, Hercules, Crystal, Black Knight, Quiksilver, Rogue, Gambit, etc got the spotlight and the chance to bright in these stories .... Instead of using the same characters (Cap America, Iron Man, Thor, Venom) over and over and over again as it happens today.
I saw the leather jackets, and my first thought was "Where does this fit into the timeline in relation to the Bloodties crossover that's in my Marriage of Cyclops and Phoenix omnibus?" And then, lo and behold, you flip through that very event! Steve Epting draws some cool art, I may pick this up sometime. And if/when I do, I'll be looking for the direct market cover, since that one looks soooooo much than the standard one. Kinda with that art was on the actual cover, though, and not just the dust jacket...
Do you think Marvel would consider adding volume numbers to omnis like this? For example: the next Avengers Omni from the regular chronology would be Avengers Vol. 5: The Celestial Madonna Saga. This would be something like Avengers vol. 9(?): The Gatherers Saga. I think that could add some continuity to the shelves and would align the contents across formats as they do this for the Epic Collections.

I'm going to comment on the light/sky coloring, color motif of the book. The only over-sized Avengers omnibus I'm interested in presently is Volume 1. Interestingly enough, there doesn't seem to be an overview of Vol. 1 on TH-cam. Anyway, if it gets reprinted (again?) I'd love to see it done in the same new sky blue vibe this omnibus and The Avengers book set uses.

This book was not on my radar at all until a few days ago. I was reading the Wedding of Cyclops and Phoenix OHC and it started with the Bloodties crossover. I really enjoyed both the X-Men and Avengers parts of the story. I’ll probably give the Avengers issues of this Omni a chance on Marvel Unlimited before buying.
You've mentioned how excited you were for this before ... but I always thought you were talking about The Crossing, not The Gathering! (No plans to buy this, but I'm watching the video to see if you can sell me.)
Now we need an ultraverse omnibus to fill the gap between the avengers issues and the black knight exodus book. I very much doubt the omnibus will explain what happen to during this time to Black knight
Well, wasn't really an Avengers fan at this time, but it is hitting the nostalgia nerve a bit and I think I would enjoy the artwork if nothing else so I think I'll pick it up. Don't currently have any Avengers omnis. The one that I would definitely pick up, a Roger Stern omni, just never seems to be on the cards.

Usually they let you know in solicits. Or you can just put it together. Example: oh Wolverine is an old man, married with kids and no longer popping his claws. Out of continuity.
Hey, I love the Avengers but not a real big fan of the jackets or the Dollar General laser sword era. I have the singles (they are around here somewhere in one of these long boxes) but I'll pick this one up later.

I see a lot of white framed borders and page numbers. Does it affect the image size, i.e. are they larger than the standard size art in the Epic collections? Or are they the same art in bigger pages?
If moon knight omnibus 1 and X factor by PAD omnibus 1 sell well, should we see a volume 2 for both? (And then a Houston omnibus and finish off X factor by PAD finally?)

Love this era and this story, but disappointed that they left out the Collection Obsession and included other, filler issues. Mapping could be better.
Hope that and Operation Galactic Storm comes out later in Oversized format.

Ah I was tempted to get this since I like the omnibus format but I'm thinking I gotta stick to those Epic Collections to get a more complete set of issues

This book was not on my radar at all until a few days ago. I was reading the Wedding of Cyclops and Phoenix OHC and it started with the Bloodties crossover.
I really enjoyed both the X-Men and Avengers parts of the story. I’ll probably give the Avengers issues of this Omni a chance on Marvel Unlimited before buying.

Now we need an ultraverse omnibus to fill the gap between the avengers issues and the black knight exodus book. I very much doubt the omnibus will explain what happen to during this time to Black knight

Well, wasn't really an Avengers fan at this time, but it is hitting the nostalgia nerve a bit and I think I would enjoy the artwork if nothing else so I think I'll pick it up. Don't currently have any Avengers omnis. The one that I would definitely pick up, a Roger Stern omni, just never seems to be on the cards.
Oh yeah one of my most wanted Marvel Omnis (probably 2) is Uncle Rog's Avengers. Which reminds me next month, I need to start working on those videos.

Is this a good starting point for Avengers more of a JLA fan in general but I am intrigued by this video and willing to take that dive? If not what else would I need to read or obtain to make this run complete.

Just found the standard edition at Ollie's. It was a tad beaten up but more than readable condition.
Reaper and some of these characters got ties to WandaVision...I see what Omar is doing

I might pick this up and give it a chance..I never bought the Epic Collections,because the leather jacket era never appealed to me.I will have to give it some more thought.You almost have me sold on it ,Omar.dammit.

Hey Peter, thank you for the kind words. If I'm not familiar with a story I try to read as much of the book as I can. Currently reading through Conan omnibus 5 as I've never read any of those stories.
Shame the book doesnt start at #334 so we had all the Harras/Epting stuff in one volume. Can't wait for this one though.
Hope that and Operation Galactic Storm comes out later in Oversized format.

Omar, how do you know when a book is in continuity and when it isn´t? like that spidey one for example (skipped it in the video because of spoilers)
Usually they let you know in solicits. Or you can just put it together. Example: oh Wolverine is an old man, married with kids and no longer popping his claws. Out of continuity.
Hey, I love the Avengers but not a real big fan of the jackets or the Dollar General laser sword era. I have the singles (they are around here somewhere in one of these long boxes) but I'll pick this one up later.

Is The Gathering a good story on its own, or do it require to have read a big amount of Avengers comics or other Marvel title from the time before, to get something from it? :) I have not watched this overview, due to it seems to contain spoilers if i understand the pinned comment right. o_O

I see a lot of white framed borders and page numbers. Does it affect the image size, i.e. are they larger than the standard size art in the Epic collections? Or are they the same art in bigger pages?

No idea what it was. I was one who dropped off Marvel during the 90s. Unsure if I’m sold on this yet or not.
If moon knight omnibus 1 and X factor by PAD omnibus 1 sell well, should we see a volume 2 for both? (And then a Houston omnibus and finish off X factor by PAD finally?)

So I'm guessing there is no place to get the direct market cover online? I live in another country, so I can't exactly visit any comic shops. The standard edition cover looks a lot less epic.

@@NearMintCondition Macao. Essentially cut off from any type of American comic book shops. I can get stuff delivered here or in the USA to a friend I have, but that's about it. Hong Kong might have an American comic book shop, but I can't even get over there due to the COVID-19 mess. Does Forbidden Planet have it online?
I'm on the fence on getting this. I really don't like the 90s team, but I really love the Avengers (Not as much as X-men. No one can beat the X-men).
