Just to add more info...The rural population of India has awakened to quite a extent over and above average...Such unforeseen cases do happen during marriage when a girl asks the boy a basic maths..Offlately there was a incidence when the girl withdraws to marry the boy when she came to know that the boys home doesnt have a personnel toilet inspite of the Govts strict policy in village panchayats for 100 % open defecation free....Then what....The boys family had to build a toilet at their home to get their son married .These incidences creates a immense pressure on the society indirectly but resolves many social stigma attached to it . Isse kehthe hai ek theer se dho nishana....Its the women power in India and the Govt is pampering the girl child a lot... There is a saying in India ...when the boy gets educated he takes care of himself but if a girl gets educated she takes care of entire family and its society...Its a ongoing slogan now." Kids in most indian household learn maths as hobbies too like Vedic maths, Abacus etc there many hobby centers where they r taught. And in schools too maths r taught from class 1. 😊 on English medium schools r very common in every small towns and big villages in south india. But Govt schools still cater to learning all the subjects in the local language and english as a subject from class 3. These schools give free education, books, bags ,Midday meals too. So kids from very poor background get a chance to go to school and get basic education. Many Govt schools r exceptional too. Many of our scholours in 1950-60's india came from studying in their mother tongue and excelling in Science,Math and english too. Our mathatician Ramanujam, CVRaman,Kalam Saab( to name a few) all r educated in Tamil medium schooling went on to become big acheievers,and Nobel price winners. English as a language can help to widen one's learning capabilities but learning in one's own language allows a person to think naturally with originality.😊
In villages even today some basic maths and calculations are being asked when people go to see boys or girls for marriage of their girls/boys..
Bharat me 28 official languages, or har state ka apna ek state language hai, jaha bachcho ko mostly unke state language me padhaya jaata hai, unke books state language me hota hai, Lekin har state(province) me English ya Hindi medium bhi choose kr sakte hai...English poore India me ek common subject hai, Hindi 98% India me ek common subject hai except few states...Constitutionally all languages are equal but Hindi is official language of Republic Union of India...

Parents in India today are far more aware and expect child to do well that not only in terms of quantity but also quality India is far emerging as the global leader in education. Our standards are much better than even developed nations.

Its also bcoz of stereotypical parents who blv dat wdt science nd maths u cant make a career in future...so we wer put under huge pressure frm da very beginning by our school nd parents....I loved Maths... Nd Maths syllabus is huge here.... Calculators are a STRICT NOOOO in indian schools,colleges, AND AT HOME even !!! In Cambridge board students used Scientific calculators, whereas in Indian boards, we use to mug up da whole charts of Calculus formula nd Trigonometric ratios....we nvr used Calcis
All state board or central board question papers come out in at least 2 languages....be it cbse, jee, ...so if you're hinting at the importance of national languages in Indian curriculum, you have no idea how many languages are taught in India..It's a wrong presumption that Indians are very good at English..theyre just as good with their mother tongues as well ....And yes, officially there are 22 national languages recognised by the government of India :)

India doesn't have a national language. That is to respect all languages. English is the lingua franca along with the OFFICIAL language. Hindi is also the OFFICIAL language not the national language. We love Tamil, Kannda and Tulu along with Odia and Bodo!

No this is not truth that we get whole education in english...we get education in our local language...yes some schools like private institutions teach in English...but not all normal school teach in local language like Marathi ,Gujarati,Panjabi....
