I’m genuinely so happy with Mark as the new commissioner, a couple years back it always felt like LCS was a part time thing for Mark, something he just had fun in, but last year he really showed me why he’s by far the best personality the LCS has when it comes to understanding the game at the highest level
Love these changes. Literally all of them. I’m from NA, but I basically gave up watching the LCS years ago even though I love Leauge and have been playing for over 10 years. These changes might genuinely make me come back and check in. Fearless draft is the freaking future. I’m telling you. Mad Max this sh**. Make it fun again. Remember season 1 and 2 when it was just chaos and actually fun to watch!?? Bring it back man.
This is absolutely a test run to see if it is popular. If viewership goes up and 80% of viewers approve of it then it will definitely hit main LCS and maybe go to other regions too
Yep! Now APA and Tomio will have to try harder because with their champion pools(2 to 3 champs) they know they aren't getting out of the NACL if they drop back in.
Fearless draft is hype. Honestly sick of seeing the same champions in pro play, especially since riot seems incapable of making champs not relevant in the pro scene without completely gutting them.
2:28 so the LCS coaches are *actually* going to do their jobs instead of slacking off and copying the LCK meta like they always do. Now all the frauds are going to get exposed.
I get the bugs point and not matching with other leagues. but since the pros are always playing/practicing on a different patch than live patch isn't this just shifting the different practice back 1 or 2 patches, so the scrim/practice before matches doesn't seem to be much different than previous years just shifted.
Riot will probably allow them to practice on new patch the moment the changes are finalized. Also, playing on a different patch just means NA cant copy paste from LCK
My prediction is this is the reason they are going to give for significantly longer patch cycles. I'm guessing a 6 week patch cycle, with more rigorous internal testing.
LCS is on the brink of extinction, but they are fighting! The changes are huge and can become pillars of NA's international strength! Playing on live makes analysts become immensely more important and forces players to actually become smart about what they build and play. Fearless Draft in NACL only reinforces that effect! It even reinforces starting more native talent due to the communication issues which would arise with playing a live patch and discussing patch notes just 3 days before a match. I'm hyped!
I think the main upside about playing on live patches. Means other eyes from around the world will be on NA. Because they will be the highest level of play available. So when lck, lpl and lec move to that patch, they're going to lcs vods. That may help steer meta and just get people noticing lcs players and talent more. All around great potential in that.
Honestly might have to start watching LCS again after this. 8 teams should hopefully bump up the overall team quality, playing on live patch and marketing NA as the meta trendsetters is honestly genius for viewership, and pre-recording the drafts to help halve time between games is a great thing to do too. The only thing you'll really lose out on is the players baiting the audience with troll picks or BMing with a champ that ruined an opposing team's player in a previous game. Glad NACL is moving to fearless draft too. It IS the future of pro league. I really hope LEC adopts this for the Bo3 stage onwards in future.
Fearless draft is the future and i wish they implemented it into lcs! Seeing new champs every match and seeing the occasional off meta pick that gets the crowd going.
Got to admire the balls on this man, taking big risks changing things to try to please a psychotic and forever complaining mostly immature audience, respect.
That international CL tournament is a great idea. On a budget like old school tourneys. I would totally watch that. Would be amazing for upcoming players too.

I feel like with the shortened transition times you miss any analysis of the games, that said I don't watch LCS and sometimes the analysis can drag a bit or not really have much to talk about, so maybe this will do well especially bringing more casual fans to it
Just to point out, Thorin and Richard Lewis were both shitting on MarkZ when he was announced as commissioner and said he was unqualified for the role. Someone who has spent over a decade in the scene, at its forefront. Cant wait to see LCS thrive while those 2 scream and cry from their echo chambers, maybe also bullying a few more 16yr old pros while theyre sulking
I like that they kinda build their own meta. Screw following lpl and lck. We don't play like them thats why we lose. Atleast if we lose now its because were just stupid. 😂🤣
Playing on live will make players play Challenger Queue if CQ is on that patch, and also force them to play SoloQ HARD so they can figure out what the new OPs are
fearless draft sounds interesting. I'm not sure if it's the future, it would certainly be a big shift how longer series like worlds finals would play out. In a bo3 you can probably work around it, but going to game 5 in a bo5 could just end up with total crapshoots as teams try to build a comp with the scraps of their champ pools. Maybe for Bo5s you could have a reset in champ pools, so that in the last game everyone can bring out their best once again instead of their worst.
fearless draft should be in every league and every itnernational event! I wanna see ppl challange faker to who has the biggest champion pool in league!
Honestly it's nice to see a relatively young guy who is clearly integrated into the scene in the drivers seat. The reason why a lot of esports teams are failing is because a bunch of old businessmen who know nothing about esports become majority share holders of things and end up pushing teams in directions that just kill all momentum. That's why NA is such a shit show for League.
At least they are changing things. Its the same every year, LCK always wins, always determines meta, then we like the rats we are watch the same 10-15 champs get played for 3-6 months out of a 100+ character roster. This at least freshens things up, and makes watching feel less predictable.
Yes, playing on live patch is only for regular season. It's not as impactful as you might think since they would already have been playing a certain patch for playoffs and there's downtime towards MSI and Worlds.
If fear less draft comes to rank I’m quitting league. Imagine going 3 or 4 days without getting to play your champ because your a busy adult and your champ gets banned or taken after your 5 game reset lol
Patches can affect jungle too. And jungle clear speed can vary from patch to patch. Especially if camp spawns differ and jg xp changes from patch to patch. Small changes? yes, but incremental changes nonetheless.
In terms of LCS being live patches, I’m guessing the rest of the regions will be looking at LCS really closely. Teams will be watching the meta closely, while regions might be wanting to also go to live patches.
I'm... REALLY hopeful that maybe next year we will transition to Bo2s at least. I know Bo3s are obviously better, and draws suck. But Bo2s are guaranteed to only be 2 games, so you NEVER need to be unsure about time length like you do for a bo3. But most importantly, NA's teams NEED to have the experience of responding to the last game. Imo, I'd say it would be good to have like team 1 v team 2 game 1, then Team 3v Team 4 game 1. Then Team 1 v team 2 game 2, team 3 v team 4 game 2.

that's never gonna happen. Spotify Rebellion paid 10 million USD for TSM's spot in LCS. Just like all the other LCS teams did a few years back, imagine LCS being an open league all of a sudden. Those teams would probably leave LCS as a statement or atleast riot against it.
Won’t lcs getting fearless draft give them way less practice with the meta, meaning they’ll have less games with the good champs and be forced into champs that they’re not as comfortable on while the rest of the regions keep building up their few comps, with 3-4 unique champs for each player. Meanwhile LCS is going to be 10-15 champ pools of champs they’re not super good at. Especially in Bo3/5
