Before ships and castles, before students, before lots of new builds, before thousands more yacht moorings, before the tourist boom, before 2nd homes, before high street shops were struggling. Falmouth how I remember it x
I love this! Its so lovely to see my home town like it was when I was 11. I remember it exactly like this. Thank you for putting this video on here, a lot of memories!
I love this town. my Dad had a boat at the marina around this time and we used to spend the summer months. ~I haven't been for years since my son has been born, hes 4 now and we are taking the campervan here in July. Cant wait for a slice of cake from Dy Wynns
So many fond memories watching this video with the relaxing music. Happy times! The busy town with local business. A time before delivery vans and amazon! Take me back!!!!
I used to visit the town a lot in the 90s (though starting from about a year later than this); good times. Maybe I should have moved down there when I had the chance. Memories; I remember T(h)eresa from Birmingham who served me in Burger King - wonder what she's doing now? Sarah who ran the little New Age shop near the Falmouth Bookshop (forgotten its name), claimed to be an empath and may well have been one; people used to call in just to tell her their problems. (Yes, I did too.) There was a secondhand bookshop near the harbour run by a woman who as a schoolgirl was very keen on throwing the discus and once threw it 120 feet. Also in the shop I met a woman from Walthamstow; a real Lou Beale type who knew the Krays (and needless to say wasn't impressed with them). There was a lady too who unfortunately had motor neurone disease but still managed to run a secondhand record and cassette shop near Trago.

Unfortunately a lot of Cornwall has gone like this, where I live in St. Ives especially.

I left Falmouth 6 months before this was filmed. Its exactly how I remember Falmouth. It has changed so much since.
For all our great world today I feel we have lost something along the way.
Love Falmouth. Had my honeymoon there in 1974. The Gyllingdune hotel. Wonderful food & service. Its now turned in to private flats.
thankyou! so many great memories of living there
Falmouth with a natural resident balance and as it should be.
I left Falmouth in 79 - Very little seems to have changed! Nice trip down memory lane, thanks for posting.
Fascinating to see this. I was a student here in the late 90's so it is interesting to see how things changed!
