60 myself, goes quick.
When were younger, we couldn't wait until we got to the age where we could break free of the bird cage that we grew up in and escape and spread our wings. In our case the 70's were those times. Freedom at last, we finally got there. With our newly found freedoms also came responsibility, jobs,husbands, wives, children, mortgages, insurance, cars, and now that we of that generation look back with longingly eyes and hearts wishing we could go back hopefully knowing at least some of what we have learned, to correct the mistakes we seemed to collected along the way. The music helped us feel loved, it brought out all the emotions in our new life. With longing hearts
In closing, I know we all have lost friends and love ones along the way, but to relive those moments when we were young, free and finding our independence all we need do is close our eyes and listen to this music and for a moment, just a brief moment we're there again. At the beach, in your car with your right arm over her shoulder, or on a dance floor, with the lights turned down soft and low praying that this night would go on forever. To be there once again, just close your eyes, and as the music, and the words wash over you like a soft Spring shower in the late afternoon with a soft breeze blowing through your hair, and all at once you're there.

These guys were 1970s pop. I am thankful for that. Voice was so big in this era of music. Artists had to sing to have hits. We are better for it.

Love Is the Answer sits there in a rarified world with My Sweet Lord ( George Harrison) and He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother (Hollies). As a kid of the seventies, I can say without a doubt music shapes the culture and sensibilities of a society. These and other songs were part of a common songbook we all shared across cultures and races.
As an African American child, I never saw music as a category but just music that touched me and felt like something special. Despite the cultural climate we are currently experiencing, I still believe if we watch less TV and used less social media, we would see how much we are alike than different.
Whether soft rock or country music, Dan Seals can project every ounce of emotion out of any song he sang. Thank you for the beautiful music you gave this world. May he rest in peace.

Just look at toddlers to see human nature in the raw, regardless of our wishes and intents. We cannot change human behavior; we have trouble even changing our own behavior. Our inability proves that the only answer is not in ourselves, but something, or Someone, greater than this...and us. AA & NA proves this; these principles were based on Christian concepts and practices.
It's nice to see all the music I grew up with still relevant and still apricated.

Totally agree. Good times back then and when you think about them makes you cry because it was so easy back then. Was it really so bad to have nothing open on a Sunday? Having to walk to use a payphone if you broke down. I said years ago before I got my first cell phone; this technology will be the ruin of humanity.

@@kellyland173 rotary phones and only 3 TV stations (which was plenty). We played until the street lights came on. We walked to school in the snow and did odd jobs in the neighborhood to make money for the weekend. Drive-in movies and roller skating rinks where we stole our first kiss.

Too many of my old friends didn't make it into their 70s. I might not make it. I'm 66. How i so miss them all. We rocked out the late 60s and 70s. But when we'd be cruising around Dallas looking for girls and drinking beer, 4 of us fighting over who called shotgun first. Listening to the radio turned way up jamming until these guys or Barry Manilow came on. Like clockwork the one who smoked the most weed would say change the channel. The one who drank the most beer, me, my car, no way. I love this song. All at once the two in the back, oh come on !! You never just listen to the just rock station KZEW, The Zoo. In that car, Bobby, still alive after 3 heart attacks. Bryan, out there somewhere i hope and pray, but no one has heard from him in 25 years. David, had a nice ranch just outside of Athens Texas. Had african antelope, south american Llamas, plenty of east Texas deer, chickens, turkeys, peacocks, cattle and horses. Great Truck driving job. Owned his own rig. Fanatic fisherman with a top of the line fishing boat. Married, one grown child. The fm roads out in the countty where he lived had a lot of sharp curves and were up and down, up and down like rollercoasters. He was headed home from somewhere, December 2011. Was about 5 miles from home. Apparently he passed an old farmer hauling hay doing their normal 25mph. And ran head on into another truck just like he was driving, Ford 350. Both white trucks, both carrying ranchers who were long distance neighbors and never knew it. David, now forever 58 died instantly. As did the other driver. When we were children life seemed like it would last forever. The years slowly peel away that illusion. Life, even if one lives to be 100, is short. It flies by quickly. I have a theory on why as newborns we can't really remember anything until 3, 4, 5 years old when we suddenly look around and go, what is that ?! Everyone is different but i was slow. I think i was 4 when looking out the window of mom and dad's 58 ford fairlane, i suddenly was thinking and conscience of moving and passing things. No carseats in those days. Standing up in the back seat. And we won't remember the tramatic event of being born because God in His infinite wisdom sent a heavy slumber upon every cell in our little bodies. Ànd that slumber never completely disappears until the realization of our complete conscience kicks in. 3 for some, 4 for others, 5.....

I remember standing up in my crib, holding the rails & jumping up & down to "Shrimp Boats Are A Coming". Couldn't even walk yet. Always was deeply affected by the music.

I remember I cried when I heard the news of England Dan. (AKA Dan Seals) His brother was 1/2 of the super group Seals & Croft. England Dan and John Ford Coley's music always seems to touch the heart of the listener. When it's being played we feel the need to stop and listen and reminisce. Remembering precious memories of our past, and smile, or cry.

In the 70's I did a lot of growing up. I graduated high school, met the Love of my life, married her,(still married to her) the music of that time such as this made a tremendous impact on how I lived my life. A person doesn't just hear the music, but you feel in your heart and soul what the artist is saying.

My Dad did dental work for Dan Seals here in Albuquerque. I like to think that perfection he accomplished in dentistry added to the songs. Just thoughts after my Dad passed away. 😔😔
