This is my big A-Frame Ocean Base build guide that a lot of you have been asking for! Hopefully you enjoy if you are going to build it yourself, it makes for a great ocean base but if you find enough space you can also build it somewhere else on the Island in ARK: Survival Ascended!

@@beasttijgerelzen2791 Just remove a ceiling where you want the basement to start and build a stair down with a hatch on top then you can build a little room underneath the existing structure :)

This is just amazing, Etholdir and let me tell You, after Your creation I build a similar base in the same spot, albeit no as perfect and not as pretty and full of features and ornaments as Yourself. very cool build, would be great if you could list the building structures and how much of each we need so we could prep for it.
This is an estimated list, keep in mind that metal pillars and wood ceilings will vary and probably will be a lot higher depending on how big of a porch/walkway you build around it ;)

You place a quarter wall, snap the pillar to it and then remove the quarter wall! :)

Could you do a overview/walk thru of the rest of the area. I see the Behemoth walls framing off the dock areas. I'm trying to figure out how to do what you did here

Very nice. One question is how did you build the walls under your base going into the water?
Haha, in seperate sessions bit by bit because it’s super annoying and quite deep. I only used the metal look at the top layers that you can see and afterwards used stone large walls to fill it in to the bottom

I do have one question though, specifically in regards to the spot you have for breeding.
Do you find an issue with tames meshing downwards into the structures with this build? I'm currently using a foundations structure piece at my base and am constantly having issues with the raising baby tames meshing down into the foundations.
Yeah I don't tend to any breeding of normal dinos here, just water dinos so that's fine. For normal dinos I do it at my other base and usually do it outside on normal ground, if they need heat/cold I take them inside to hatch and then back outside as soon as they are done so they don't glitch out.
@@Etholdir I could probably incorporate a small walled area by building something similar closer to the shore, or just a standalone structure on the shore.
I mostly see the meshing when I log in after having left them near the food bin while offline.

How can I turn the ceiling around the edges? since I try with the q but it doesn't turn
Question, did you do the walk ways first or make the A-house frame first and then the walkways? A part of me wanted to try and do the ALL walk ways from all the sides and then lead to where I would build the A-house frame to in a sense look exactly like this.. the perfect replica. Just wasn't sure if I could start with all the docks leading to the house and then build the house. Or does it have to house first??
I built the base first and then started connecting it to all the different places. Not sure what would actually be the easiest but as soon as you have the platform of the base you can at least have your (temporary) storage for all building materials there already
@@Etholdir one more question, do you know that if lets say I wanted to do the dock first.. is there a way to make the first part of a dock with the two pillars, staircase and ceiling? I know when I put a pillar down it automatically puts the ceiling on top of it, but I want to have the same look where the pillar is half away above the ceiling like yours.. hope that makes sense lol
You start by placing a pillar, then connect a ceiling to it with the corner. Then you place a quarter wall on top of the ceiling and align it with the pillar, then you can snap the pillar to the quarter wall to get the right height. You can remove the quarter wall after and place railing on the side. You might need to be able to do collisions for this

Tbh I don't use this for living in lol the bigger one I use to house my indoms because they deserve it and I put the indoraptors in the smaller one I thought they might as well live in style

I have a question : How do you make the curved railings ??🤔
@@absolute_unit_fr1731 It's not an actual curve on the corners, basically it's a normal ceiling with triangles connected on both sides, but they don't line up perfectly so you get a slight v shape in the corner, which I kinda like more than a sharp 90 degree corner so I kept it.

I can not place the pillars next to the gate how can i fix this or is it because i try to build it on a official server that it dont work??
Yeah official unfortunately doesn’t allow any overlap. I’d try to build it with the pillars first and then without snap try to place the gate as close as possible. That might work and otherwise you can try leaving out the pillars and build up the walls around it.

It's on the left side of the Island, just below the start of the snow area, just follow the coast down until the waterfall
I'm slightly confused at the beginning part with the quarter walls building the frame. You say something about alternating them but dont really explain and go too fast 🤷♂️
I mean I understand what you did but not how you did it. I'm guessing you just cycle through the snap points?
There are 2 variations of the wood quarter walls so that they align with other wood structures without gaps. First variation on the bottom second on top and so forth

Its to bad that dinos fall through the floor over time. They would all drown or get eaten by paranas 🤣
My flyers haven’t ever fallen through after weeks, but yeah for most other dinos probably smart to have something on land to park them safely

It’s not, it’s similar yes. I was inspired to build an A-frame after seeing that video (that’s why it’s also linked here). Especially the side building is close to the original. The main one not so much.
It definitely is. Unfortunately alot of youtubers steal other idea. But.... A frames have been around 4 years or more.
But Kiitarie did this first for Ascended

What is the location of your build?
It’s on the left side of The Island just below where the snow starts. If you follow the coast you’ll find the waterfall that ends in the ocean
