  • #medicaldevice training and #pharmaceutical training are as similar as they are different. In so many ways they go hand in hand, but one lets you shoot from the hip while the other requires a great amount of pre-work, testing and credentialing before you can even get in front of a doctor. Both of the training programs are great, but one trains you up front while the other throws you to the wolves. If you were wondering what a day in the life looks like in training mode then you found the right video. Also, there is a crazy high speed chase going on as well.

Pierre, great videos about sales and how you see the business. I didn't realise there were so many aspects of this job. I'm a mechanical engineer with many years of experience. I'm currently looking to get into project management or a senior engineering role within Stryker in Europe. Do you have any advice about the recruitment process and how the engineering teams work in Stryker?

Only problem with no bachelors will be a limit to amount of opportunities.

Hey!! I’ve been watching you for months interviewed with Stryker and zoll etc made it a couple rounds but never totally final. I landed an offer with medical diagnostics laboratories. I realized real fast NO ONE is talking about laboratory sales, once I get experience maybe I will. But can you share ur knowledge on lab sales?? Mine is specifically women’s health, infectious disease, etc. I’m hoping to make a great start here in my career and believe it happened for a reason. I would love to have your knowledge and opinion, Thanks!

great stuff! off-topic question here. I was wondering what your thoughts are on note-taking/writing down what happened in your customer interactions. I have Veeva, but I know we're limited on what we can actually put in there for compliance reasons. Personally, I like to use Google Docs. Something cloud-based where I can update my last call anywhere on any device - phone, ipad, laptop. Would you mind sharing some of your learnings over the years on staying organized?

What an awesome question! So I use a little moleskin journal that fits in my pocket. Unfortunately, it isn’t cloud based and can be lost at any moment, but that’s how I’ve stayed consistent with my notes. Every Sunday I try to take 30-60min to go through it again and make any updates k need to for the week/month. If google docs works for you, keep doing that and just put the minimal needed into Veeva. What’s great is if you leave your role and join another company in a similar space you still have all your information on those accounts.

@@PierrePacini Interesting! No matter how you do it, concistency is key. Pocket-sized makes a lot of sense - always there when you need it and I'm sure it forces you to only write down what's most important.
Also, I love what you said about reviewing on Sunday. That's not something I've built into my prep for the week.

Very informative video, Pierre. What was your stress level like when you were studying/taking exams to be a pharma rep? Also, what were your grades if you don’t mind sharing?

Personally for me, the stress level wasn’t too bad. My background falls well in line with the areas of focus. I finished top of my class a couple of times and usually in the top 1%.

Right on🎉, I did exercise science and I just finished top 1% in a sales competition at Cintas.
