    Yes, Ravi Shankarji is more known and did the most in bringing awareness of sitar globally. In my mind, Pt. Nikhilda's sur and performance is so pure, it feels like he is connecting to your very being. As the day is winding down, you are back from a full day's work, the sun is slowly going down and you start listening to Bhimpalasi by the master. Sublime experience. Hopefully someone can provide the Bandishes he is playing. I think the first one is Ja ja re apne mandirwa.

    A real master. Very true to his words. It sounds like he never practiced for the sake of performing in public. There are no catchy phrases or tihais to draw applause and the usual technical exhibitionism.

      Mayuresh Kelkar very well said. This was one guy who was entirely devoted to melody and mood at hand, nothing else was important. All his expertise was devoted to the art in its most genuine. My father says, “this guy kept pulling the strings of not the instrument but his own soul, his whole life, and we kept listening in devoted awe!”..

    I really appriciate Pandit Nikhil Bannerjee and hes musical standpoints, he has the soul of India, even more than Ravi Sankar. Raga Malkauns played By him is my favorit, it is really deep expression of bhakti and striving to the goul God has haft in mind fot us. This aftenoon raga is more new for me. I listened it the first time, calm it made me, it pured me from days influences towards the night.

    A journey through the realms of inner space, the space within ourselves. To go beyond and within. Words can only approximate that of which is best expressed through the medium in that it was first conceived. This is where the power of music resides. It is a conduit to the stars above and the past before. We are mere vessels of causality. Blessed with the awareness and opportunity to experience the awe of existence. Pandit Banerjee takes us on the path of transcendence, showing us the road to enlightenment.

    • @dams0001
      @dams0001 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Usually, the alaap is followed by jod and jhala before a gat is played, isn't it? Here the jhala follows the gat, maybe that's the reason why the alaap itself appears short. What do you think?

    • @Sunnycoolam
      @Sunnycoolam 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Arindam Sengupta Probably you are correct. absence of jor and then jhala after gat may have created that feeling. It is difficult to reduce tempo once you reach jhala, that could be the reason he chose to play it after drut.
