    Brilliant video - explained everything very clearly and enabled a total non-DIYer like me to fix my wobbly seat. Many thanks.

    Thank you so much!! I'm pretty handy when it comes to DIY but could not for the life of me figure out how to do this!! Such an easy fix!

      Thanks for compliments Hannah it's true the fittings are very cleverly disguised - but easy when you know how!

    Thank you. Didn’t know how I was going to do this. Was pulling muscles in my back trying to reach under and behind the loo! 🤦‍♀️

      Hi Mandy thanks for watching. The fixing is like trying to solve a secret puzzle but as usual simple when you know the answer! It's a pity so many loo seats seem to come loose.

      Thanks Ismail. A wobbly toilet seat really is horrible but here's an anecdote for you.
      I was in a cheap hotel in Malta a couple of years ago where the WC seat had one of those paper strips across it saying something like 'hygenically cleaned for your convenience'. The only problem was when I went to lift the seat the whole lot went straight on the floor! Nothing was fix down at all in fact wobbly would have been an improvement.

    One screw is missing on mine. Is the nut captive (in other words, held in place) ?? Because there is only a small hole as access to the nut (around 25mm diameter) If I have to hold the nut via this hole, a hole that isn't really close proximity to the screw location, then I'll need to be a contortionist to repair it.

    At around 2:30, what would happen for a top-fixing toilet if you took the screw mechanism out of the pan, because I heard the expandable grommets collapse when taking them out. I need to replace a seat, so didn't want to install it, then have to take them out again, and have them fall apart on me. Thanks.

      Hi DVD thanks for watching. From memory the internal gripping part of the fitting is rotated to pass through the hole in the ceramic and shouldn't come loose from the bolt. A whole set of Vitra spares can be obtained online from my toilet spares (all one word) if any of the bits get lost.

    The chrome buttons are quick release to remove the seat lid, why fiddle with them?

  • @iorwenbrooks-jones6899
    @iorwenbrooks-jones6899 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    our problem is that the silver cap covering the screw is stuck on tight. Do you any tips for removing that? I've tried WD40 and levering it off with a screwdriver.

    • @b33zo
      @b33zo  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for watching Lorwen. Because the metal cap is extra thin ideally you only need to catch the very edge of it with a wide blade to lift it off. Going under the cap too far and you're attempting to life the whole fitting which definately wont shift until the hidden screw is released. Good luck. b33zo

      @@b33zo I got an issue sir. 1. Same toilet seat. starts moving sideways screw loosens. 2. Tighten screw up. after week seat moves sideways again screw loosens. 3. What can i do? 4. Will a bit of pad buffering hinge bracket and toilet make a difference to stop slip or not?

    • @b33zo
      @b33zo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dannysingh8786 Hi Danny It's been a couple of years since I fixed this and obviously the seat was sliding about then. I would check that no part of the fitting, maybe a washer, is missing. When everything is put together nice and tight the seat should be fine. I believe the whole fitting can be purchased on-line though from memory it cost about half the price of the full seat kit. Guess you could try cutting out a piece of rubber (from a bike innertube?) the shape of the hinge pad if all else fails. Good luck, b33zo
