More talk about choices and trust! As the ones in the dark try to figure out what's really happening, the Jean Armin duo and the Levi squad come to a conclusion as they almost finish each others thoughts and sentences. It goes back to Pixis saying that he's willing to become a butcher for humanity's sake and Armin does think of Ian, Pixis and Zackley in the same vein as Erwin. People able to abandon their humanity and make those tough decisions. I do enjoy that due to the paneling, Jean and Eren are thinking the same thing and asking Armin/Levi Squad the same questions despite how different they are to each other, and Levi Squad saying that Eren will understand at some point why Erwin leads the Survey Corps while Armin at the same time deduces his reasons for why. The Sasha and Mikasa dynamic is cute ever since Mikasa committed the heinous crime of denying Sasha bread and eating it in front of her. At least they can somewhat relate because they both lived outside of the big cities. The capture plan is diabolical and almost works (technically, it did) if not for the toughened skin and the scream calling the titans to eat her. Lots of sacrifices today. Levi got to enjoy his tormenting self, but flew too close to the sun as maybe the Female Titan did piss themselves in there. I do remember people blaming Levi for making her scream out like that. (Btw, I'm sure you remember, but the anime made it much clearer that the Armored Titan is indeed armored. The manga is hundreds times more vague as it is very low-detail and doesn't get its scene as much focus as it does in the anime.) Also, you get to see Mike's sniffing ability in action here. I disagree, I think that Olue and Petra pissing themselves while flying with the ODM gear poses great thoughts about the intricacies of ODM movement. Eren with his willpower didn't piss himself his first time outside the walls, so that tells you of the great fortitude he has and the better feats he can accomplish, lol. On a more serious note, you can tell that Olue and Petra came from the same Cadet Corps with the way they always bicker with each other and that possibly Olue likes her. Petra always speaks highly of Levi in her scenes, so that's why she always admonishes Oluo for trying to imitate the Captain. He also wears the same handkerchief as him. Here is the end of Levi Squad. They fought well, so much so that 3 of them were enough for the Female Titan to pull out a new ability again. Eren does not succeed in making the choice with least regrets, instead opting to trust his comrades again. He already regretted his last choice. There is great juxtaposition with Erwin's dialogue and Levi Squad telling and almost provoking Eren to leave them to it. Erwin says that in order for humanity to fight these unknowns, they have to get off the straight and narrow path and take massive risks in order for them to win, and Levi Squad doesn't do that, foretelling their demise. RIP Gunther, Eld, Petra and Oluo! A fantastic scene in the anime. Some actual titan-to-titan martial arts combat, though Eren is still using brute force and whatever hand-to-hand combat he learned in training. Looks like it became useful after all. His rage does make the Female Titan scared of him as he almost starts thinking as if he is the titan saying he would eat her. A bit inappropriate I would say, Eren! And again, he does get her on her ropes, but she do just be better. What a win streak. Until Mikasa and Levi step in, as Armin’s wishes come true. But at this point, she has been put through the ringer and now is up against the very best, so I would say she did well. And Eren did "die" again in front of Mikasa this time, so yikes. Can't do much against pissed off Mikasa and Beyblade Levi who single handedly destroys her. Levi's emotionless but emotional expressions as he flies by the Levi Squad told us everything, but he still thinks of the bigger picture, formulates a plan to get Eren back and hurts his ankle saving Mikasa. I'll leave the combat scenes for the anime when you watch it, but Levi looks back at the Female Titan crying after getting defeated. The Survey Corps returning scene is heartbreaking and just a kick in the gut, stab in the heart and a good mirror to the very beginning. Damn you Petra’s father, you kill me. Let's hope Eren gets better results with the MPs? Maybe?? Long ass comments. But I can get 1 more question in me: Looking at all of this now that it's finished, do you think the whole operation was worth it in the end. Was Erwin right with what he did? Or is it more like Armin says, where you can never know what to expect, so putting everything on the line was the only thing they could've done?
Rough outcome all around, for sure. The Levi Squad barely got the screen time they deserved. Made the outcome that much more brutal though. I think Armin's point is more valid than Erin's. When you have nothing to lose, you take more risks, and similarly, when you've accepted that you would lose everything for a belief, you will commit more confidently. That said... It's also important to not regret what you could've done based on details you couldn't have known. So, although I think Erin could've very likely helped save lives, he might have compromised a lot of lessons the survivors took away from that Female Titan encounter, even at such a great sacrifice. Additionally he might have lost control and then been killed by Levi Squad. Getting handed over to the MP is bad news though... I'm worried about Volume 8. I will read that one blind I think for the vlog.
Armored Titan's armor is definitely harder to see see in the manga unless you read the colored version or watch the anime (tho anime taken creative liberty with the coloring since it's different from the manga). This volume does create an interesting point, if FemTitan can harden, what's the point of having a dedicated Armored one in the story. Sure, she can't maintain it for long, or whatever they said in the chapter, but that ain't such a unique ability, huh? Imagine Colossal Titan can also do it tho, that's a final boss right there if I ever saw one, or is it?. 13:30 pretty sure the "Ssssss" sound effect is meant to be her inhaling for the scream. Makes sense to wonder if Eren can also manipulate Titans the same way or is it only her? [try not to make a Twitch thot and tier 3 subscribers joke] I forgot to timestamp, but I mean, if Miche has that Wolverine smell, why can't Potato Girl have Spidey-Sense? Oooooo, sexist comment detected, canceeeled 🗿 Erwin Smith is a very eccentric and dare I say esoteric character. Can't wait to see more. 26:15 the WHAT now??? oh hell naw, this [respectable gentleman] is tweakin'. you did not just say that if you said what I think you said. 😭 "That's how eager he is" I can't tell if you chuckled because you considered making a dad joke or not, but I kinda wish you actually went for the "that's how jaeger he was", it's too easy XD "Levi is gonna have some regrets" welp, so much for "No Regrets" amirite.. man, the fight is insane in the anime. respect to the mangaka too, it can't be easy to figure out how to compose the scenes, especially since he is a reletively young one, wonder how he tackled the brainstorming. Bleach's mangaka for example, listened to rock music and improvised the scenes in his mind, rotating them in his head and drawing the more appealing angles, rather than using existing references and poses to copy. Also, I can't wait for the official reveal so I can stop catching myself spoiling the name and using "Female Titan" isntead of it... Thank God this is not a outspoken conversation, cuz I'd slip up for sure. anime sure makes is a whole lot more obvious given the full color and shows the scene before Eren's head goes flying a bit differently which is a massive giveaway unless I misremember. 40:10 the sequence of event basically comes down to Levi pushing Mikasa out of the way, he ends up colliding with the FemT's swing, which breaks his ankle(anime adds an additional scene of it cracking, compared to just 1 panel of him gasping), he than cuts both cheeks, forcing the mouth to open, he doesn't actually go through it XD. 41:05 it's so sad to see her cry at her failure, poor girl I can't say the name of... scratch, that, both Eren and her do the same🤕maybe she just wants a friend. LMAOOO that Peter Griffin scene with Armin. I remember sharing the video that shows Marina Inoue's voice comparison between Armin and Elysia and that scene was there animated. I had NO idea where it was from btw, which is why I shared it since it wasn't a spoiler. Probably got adapted into one of the OVAs cuz I still have no idea where it fits the anime. The rejected Mikasa cover tho 😳 You have no idea, after the cook-out OVA, people worship Mikasa's abs, since she appears there in that outfit. Shout out to Female Titan not being a spitter tho, she sure knows how to hold it in her mouth. edit: I had to edit the comment just in case people are reading this for the first time or smth, but I did make a joke that accidentaly hints at Female's identity, oops!!!
Since Volume 8 seems to signify the end of the Season 1 of the anime, maybe it'll be time to return to that cross reaction experience, because this V7 fight made me really curious to see how this gets animated big time!

Perfecto! Hope you enjoy the ride!
